What is: DC Rivals Hypercoaster - Warner Bros. Movie World - YouTube

Channel: COASTER BOT

[3]
DC Rivals HyperCoaster is a steel roller coaster located at Warner Brothers Movie World in
[9]
Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
[11]
The ride was promoted as the tallest, longest and fastest hyper coaster in the Southern
[16]
Hemisphere, allowing guests to climb over 200ft, 61m high, before experiencing a thrilling,
[23]
fast paced layout.
[24]
DC Rivals began construction in April of 2017, with the final piece of track being put into
[30]
place only 4 months later.
[32]
The ride officially opened to the public on the 22nd of September 2017, at the cost of
[38]
30 Million Australian Dollars, the park’s largest single ride investment to date.
[42]
Upon debut, it became the first truly large scale MACK Rides roller coaster in Australia,
[48]
and the 2nd of its kind worldwide.
[50]
As the rides name suggests, DC Rivals HyperCoaster is loosely themed to the DC Universe.
[56]
A large rendition of the Joker’s face, lit up against the bright sky, can be seen towering
[61]
above the attraction’s already huge drop; while various billboards have been scattered
[65]
throughout the queue line, each showcasing DC comics artwork.
[69]
After navigating the queue, guests enter the station building and are given multiple options
[74]
to board the Bat-mobile themed trains.
[77]
Visitors can ride facing forwards, in 10 of the train’s 11 individual rows; or for a
[82]
fee of 15 n AUD they can ‘Ride it backwards’, experiencing the entire roller coaster facing
[88]
the wrong way in the final row of the train.
[91]
No matter how they experience the ride,
[93]
each train features 6 cars, 5 of which seat riders in 2 rows of 2.
[98]
As the last car seats only two guests, this leads to a total of 22 riders per train.
[104]
Once visitors have boarded, they are dispatched out of the station building, undergoing a
[108]
right hand turn into the attractions lift hill.
[111]
Guests climb the 45 degree incline, ascending to the maximum height of 61.6m (202.1ft).
[117]
At this point they pass underneath the Joker’s head, before plummeting down the ride’s
[121]
first drop, at the maximum vertical angle of 85 degrees.
[125]
On top of this, guests complete a snappy 90 degree twist in the process, and quickly reach
[131]
their top speed 115kmh (72mph).
[134]
After traversing the first drop, the trains immediately enter a huge airtime hill, causing
[139]
riders to experience sustained ejector airtime.
[142]
They bank left and navigate one of DC Rivals signature elements,
[146]
it’s 39m (128ft) non-inverting loop.
[149]
Guests twist through the top of the loop, plummet back towards the ground,
[153]
and traverse a stengel dive.
[155]
The trains whip to the right before diving back towards the earth.
[159]
At this point, riders navigate an inclined dive loop, followed by several turns and a
[164]
twisted airtime hill.
[166]
Guests enter a long 480 degree helix and enter a snappy right hand, then left hand turn.
[173]
To mark the end of their ride, visitors traverse a series of ejector airtime hills, leading
[179]
them into the attraction’s final brake run.
[181]
By the end of the experience, visitors have navigated a total of 1400m (4593ft) of track,
[187]
all within 62 seconds of ride time.
[189]
That’s measured from the moment they leave the lift hill,
[192]
to when they enter the final brake run.
[194]
Upon its debut DC Rivals Hypercoaster gained fantastic reviews.
[198]
Most enjoyed the long, forceful experience, packed with large amounts of airtime.
[203]
Furthermore, the ‘ride it backwards’ feature has added to the already fantastic experience,
[208]
improving the attractions re-rideability factor.
[211]
It’s because of these that DC Rivals has quickly become
[214]
arguably the best roller coaster in Australia.
[217]
On top of this, the ride has been a success for the park.
[220]
A peak of 11,500 visitors attended the park in a single day following its opening, a record
[226]
for Movie World for the month of September.
[229]
Ultimately, DC Rivals has become must do coaster for enthusiasts worldwide.
