[6]
Hello everyone, welcome back to Lucky Crit!
[8]
Last time we discussed some of the newly released character bios and information, and as a reminder,
[12]
if you are new to this series we've already got a bunch of videos at this point highlighting
[16]
everything we know so far about Fire Emblem Three Houses.
[19]
As we get closer I'll put together an episode that gives my rundown on everything and what
[23]
you can expect when buying the game.
[25]
We also had the Fire Emblem Expo occur over the weekend in Japan, and while it certainly
[29]
was an awesome event filled with Fire Emblem history, nostalgia, live performances, and
[34]
even displayed original Thracia 776 artwork, as I speculated, I didn't really see there
[39]
being a huge Three Houses reveal or new information from the expo.
[43]
It was much more of a celebratory event with performances and live music than it was a
[47]
direct presentation.
[48]
So it's probably more likely that we'll see further Fire Emblem Three Houses reveals during
[52]
events like E3 this year.
[54]
Maybe Nintendo would even go all out like they've done in the past for Breath Of The Wild,
[57]
and include Fire Emblem Three Houses as a main part of their E3 Exhibit.
[60]
That's probably pretty unlikely, but it would be awesome, and we'll just have to wait and see.
[65]
Diving back into character bios for a minute, first off we've got a new bio for the Golden
[68]
Deer character, Lorentz.
[70]
Unfortunately the Nintendo of America Twitter page that was releasing translated character
[73]
bios hasn't done any new ones since Claude.
[76]
We'll probably get them eventually, but the Japanese Fire Emblem Twitter account is just way ahead
[80]
at this point, so we'll be going with those.
[82]
Once again, thanks to our friend SatsumaFSoySoy for translating these.
[86]
So this is Lorentz from the Golden Deers, he is the eldest son of the house of Duke Gloucester.
[91]
His snobby demeanor belies his serious nature, as he fully understands his responsibility
[95]
as nobility.
[97]
It seems he has been approaching girls at a monastery, to little success.
[100]
A lot of people don't like Lorentz's hair but it's kinda growing on me already.
[104]
Seems like he'll need to work on his social skills though.
[106]
In this shot he's saying, "They're not quite responding to my advances...
[109]
It seems they're avoiding me."
[110]
"So you're the rumoured mercenary.
[112]
You saved Claude's life, or something...
[114]
You didn't need to butt in.
[116]
I am Lorentz Helman Gloucester.
[117]
Remember that."
[118]
Satsuma also points out that the tweet that shared this video clip says that the flower
[122]
on Lorentz's chest is fake, further proving his snobbiness.
[126]
Next up there's Doudou.
[128]
Dou dou?
[130]
(doo doo?)
[130]
of the Blue Lions.
[131]
I really hope that's not the pronunciation.
[133]
A peasant from Daska, a place northwest of the capital (of Faerghus, which is Blaiddyd)
[138]
and a servant of Dimitri.
[140]
Owes a great debt to Dimitri, and has resolved to protect Dimitri with his own life.
[144]
His stern face and stoic demeanor makes him often misunderstood, but he is a calm and
[148]
gentle young man.
[149]
"It seems you've saved his Highness.
[150]
...I have no words to express my gratitude.
[153]
...I will return this favour.
[154]
If anything comes up, I will help you."
[157]
We've also finally got our reveal of the pretty teacher lady from the second trailer, with
[160]
her name revealed to be Manuela.
[162]
So Manuela is a former songstress who stood at the pinnacle
[165]
of the capital's Mittlefrank Opera Company.
[167]
Now, she is a teacher and doctor at the Officer's Academy.
[170]
(Quiet) "I'll play doctor with her.."
[171]
She has often been seen at school lamenting that she has yet to meet the man of her dreams.
[175]
She has a crude side to her, but she is good at taking care of others, and is friendly
[178]
to the new teacher, the protagonist.
[181]
ByLeTh GoIn' In!!!
[182]
She seems to sarcastically or jokingly say "teacher" while referring to Byleth
[185]
since they're both teachers. I think it's kind of a playful thing.
[188]
In this scene she's saying, "Oh my, you've come, teacher. This is the doctor's office.
[192]
If you get hurt or sick, come here immediately.
[194]
....Want some tea?"
[196]
The section for Fire Emblem Three Houses has also finally launched on the Japanese Nintendo
[200]
website, and with it, of course we've got a couple new things to look at.
[203]
First off we've got a closer look of the beautiful artwork being used on the box for the fodlan
[207]
collection, which is the japanese special edition.
[210]
We're not getting this as the box art of the English or European versions, though.
[214]
The site showcases the fact that the game can be played with various controller configurations,
[218]
everything that typical switch games can do, you know, liked docked, portable,
[222]
using the kickstand and detached joycons, the pro controller, etc, but it does point out that you
[227]
won't be able to play the game with just a single joycon.
[230]
It makes sense as even though single joycons do have most buttons, they also have the home
[234]
button or the screenshot button (and or + and -) instead of like the start and select buttons,
[237]
so perhaps they just couldn't allow the player to be able to play the game and get stuck without using those.
[242]
This graphic also points out that the game will in fact be single player.
[245]
Now that might not come as a shock to most of you, considering Fire Emblem games are largely
[249]
single player experiences, but I wonder if this has implications for any online connectivity.
[254]
This definitely means any sort of two player co-op is out the door, although I don't think
[257]
most people ever assumed that would be the case either.
[259]
I'd love to see some sort of Advance Wars-esque war room features though, like each player
[263]
playing a turn and then passing the controller to the second player, custom created maps, etc.
[268]
A guy can dream.
[269]
But I won't get my hopes up.
[270]
Regardless, considering how popular the Switch is, and how they baked the portable nature
[274]
of the console into it and in all of the advertisements for it, it would be a real bummer if they
[279]
didn't have even just a similar level of multiplayer or online functionality with this game,
[283]
as they've done in the past,
[284]
with features like My castle, or spotpass battles, or anything else they've done.
[288]
So I really hope we get at least a few features comparable to those, otherwise it's kind of
[292]
a waste that they're not going to be taking advantage of the Switch's portability and online options.
[297]
This footage that's playing on the background of the introduction tab, showcases a little
[300]
bit more of some of the scenes we've seen from the second trailer.
[303]
We can finally see the three houses and their students clearly without the the overlays
[306]
on top of them, so it's nice to finally take a look at some of the students.
[309]
We can briefly see an animation of what looks to be the same inner chapel as the artwork
[313]
from the steelbook case in some of the special editions, with that eerie figure standing
[317]
in the center.
[318]
It cuts really quickly here, but it's probably Rea, the Divine Seiros, as the cloak on the
[322]
figure looks nothing like the other generically evil looking guy from the second trailer.
[326]
In the Golden Deer cinematic, we finally get a clear look at Lorentz, Hilda, Marianne, Lysithea,
[332]
Claude, Raphael, Leonie, and the otehr kid, Ignace. We'll talk about him later.
[337]
In the Black Eagles, we already know everyone here, but take a look at Dorothea, Ferdinand, Linhardt,
[343]
Caspar, Petra, Edelgard, Bernadetta with the book on her head, and stoic Hubert
[348]
off to the side.
[350]
Next we've got a clearer look at the training practice shot between Dimitri and Doudou.
[354]
Doo doo. Whatever it is.
[356]
The Blue Lions don't really have a similar cutscene to the Golden Deers or Black Eagles
[360]
with all the students gathering in their dorm area or classroom, perhaps this is because they're
[364]
mostly knight-based they have a stricter concept of school and training than the other houses.
[368]
In this case, if that's what this scene is, then it's probably the Blue Lions' version
[371]
of this shot and it's likely that we'll see all of the students shown here.
[374]
So there's definitely more to this that we'll probably see at some point.
[377]
There's a couple paragraphs of information on the site as well, they're pretty much what we already know,
[381]
but I'll go through them so you have all the information.
[384]
"Fodlan is home to many people who live under the teachings of the Church of Seiros, followers
[388]
of the Goddess."
[389]
"The denizens of Fodlan consider the Church of Seiros and the Goddess to be especially
[393]
important."
[394]
"For example, the existence of 'crests', said to have been bestowed to mankind long
[397]
ago, are symbols of wealth and power often belonging to ruling nobles and have a profound
[402]
effect on people's lives to this day."
[405]
Garreg-Mach Monastery is the home base of the Church of Seiros, located in the central
[409]
mountains at the centre of the three great nations.
[411]
In addition to being a religious site, the monastery is home to an elite order of knights
[415]
and has a vital role to play in maintaining order throughout Fodlan."
[419]
"The monastery also houses the officer's academy, which educates the young people who
[423]
will shoulder the future of Fodlan."
[425]
The academy is divided into three houses, organized according to the students' nationality,
[429]
and is essentially a microcosm of Fodlan."
[431]
The protagonist will choose one of the three houses to teach, guiding them as a teacher
[435]
in the classroom and a commander on the battlefield.
[438]
There's this cool moving mural of scenes at the bottom of the page here, which contains a
[442]
lot of little snippets we haven't seen before, Like a scene of the Knights of Seiros with
[445]
the green haired man we don't know much about yet,
[447]
Probably just a different angle of one of the scenes we saw in the second trailer.
[451]
There's a wide shot of of the chapel, a different angle of the Dimitri army attack
[454]
scene, a close up shot of Edelgard and Hubert, probably
[458]
from that same Black Eagle cutscene with the other students.
[460]
There's a shot of Rea, the Archbishop of Seiros, standing up high on a balcony, probably at
[464]
Garreg Mach. A different angle of Claude and Edelgard from their army attack scenes,
[469]
And even a scene with female Byleth and the bone sword falchion thing.
[472]
The website also showcases the crests or logos for each entity in the game, from the black eagles,
[478]
blue lions, golden deer, and church of seiros that we've talked about, but then we've got
[482]
the crest for the knights of seiros, which we can also actually see in the second trailer, too.
[487]
There's also a separate crest we've seen before in various places, and it seems to be more
[491]
aligned with Byleth and the player.
[492]
The site also has a character section, which sort of compiles a lot of the recent character
[496]
tweets that we saw on the Japanese twitter account, but there's also some new stuff in here, too.
[501]
There's a new illustration of the Garreg Mach Monastery, which is beautiful, and
[504]
on Byleth's page, there's a new cutscene of Byleth hearing the school bell and leaving;
[508]
probably to go to class and teach.
[510]
We can see the two different variations for this cutscene with both male Byleth and female Byleth.
[515]
If you listen closely, you can hear the Fire Emblem Main theme is school's bell.
[519]
That's really awesome.
[522]
(Fire Emblem bell)
[533]
(Door opening)
[534]
It reminds me a little of the customizable town bells in Animal Crossing.
[538]
Couple of things with this, I don't want to be overtly negative in this video because
[541]
I do think this will be a solid game, but there are a lot of fans that are not too happy with
[545]
the animation here, saying that it looks rather robotic, almost as if they set certain keyframes
[550]
and had the inbetween frames auto generated by software.
[553]
It does look a little floaty, kind of like Byleth is doing the moonwalk a little bit.
[557]
So let's hope this is ironed out by release.
[559]
Female Byleth is cute, but I'm not sure why her face looks so big in this scene compared
[563]
to male Byleth, it's a little odd.
[565]
It doesn't really matter, because ordinarily you wouldn't be seeing both of these cutscenes side by side like this,
[570]
but it's just kind of strange that her proportions are just so much different and a little bit more
[573]
anime-like in her case, I guess.
[575]
That's it for this website for now.
[577]
But while putting together this video we also had the English version of this website launch,
[581]
and with the full version promised to come soon.
[583]
Right now it's just a single page for the time being, and far less pretty than the Japanese page,
[588]
but here's what it looks like.
[589]
Links will be in the description.
[590]
I know I keep promising to go through the screenshots from the famitsu website that have been out
[594]
for a bit now, and that we haven't gotten to yet,
[596]
but this video would be super long if we did everything all together, so I'll
[600]
save that part of it for my next Three Houses video.
[603]
We're gonna have to wrap up this video here as that's all the time I've got for today
[605]
guys, but we still have a lot more to talk about with some of those screenshots,
[609]
so make sure you get subscribed if you want to catch our next video on Fire Emblem Three Houses,
[613]
and there is also supposed to be another famitsu
[615]
spot for Three Houses dropping this week, which means that we'll have even more
