[13]
there is perhaps no greater symbol of
[16]
the Empire's dominance no greater
[18]
arguments for the futility of defiance
[20]
than the colossal flagship of its mighty
[22]
fleet the Tarkin doctrine epitomized the
[25]
executor class super stardestroyer
[27]
larger by a factor of 10 the most
[30]
Imperial warships and wielding the
[32]
firepower of an entire fleet of
[33]
stardestroyers a single executor class
[36]
was more than capable of engaging entire
[38]
hostile battle groups and conducting
[40]
full-scale planetary invasion without
[42]
reinforcements even without engaging in
[45]
combat the mere terrifying presence of
[47]
the executor class has been known to
[49]
inspire the immediate retreat or
[51]
surrender of hostile forces and as a
[53]
means of maintaining order and security
[55]
through fear the ship was second only to
[58]
the Death Star 19,000 meters in length
[60]
and approximately 4,000 meters across
[63]
the executor class was the largest
[64]
starship in the galaxy at the time of
[66]
its commissioning and one of the largest
[68]
in recorded history over 280 thousand
[71]
officers gunners and crewmen served
[73]
aboard each vessel with personnel and
[75]
cargo being ferried throughout its vast
[77]
interior by rail jet carriages and
[79]
turbolifts the executive class was
[81]
designed by the brilliant Lyra Wessex of
[83]
kuat drive yards who had previously
[86]
designed the extremely successful
[87]
Venator and imperial class Star
[89]
Destroyers Wessex had intended for the
[91]
executor to represent a quantum surge in
[94]
starship design exceeding all of Kady
[96]
Weis previous works the executor class
[98]
carried an enormous array of weaponry in
[100]
excess of most Imperial fleets included
[103]
in this Arsenal were 2,000 turbo laser
[105]
cannons supplemented by a further 2,000
[108]
heavy turbo laser cannons the ship also
[110]
boasted 250 ion cannons 250 concussion
[114]
missile batteries and a huge array of
[116]
point defense weapons the executive
[118]
class was also capable of carrying
[120]
thousands of tie series star fighters as
[122]
well as 5 full legions of stormtroopers
[125]
amounting to 38,000 troops in order to
[128]
support this massive infantry force
[129]
during planetary invasions the
[131]
also carried 30 80 80 s and 40 80 STS as
[135]
well as 2 prefabricated garrison bases
[138]
and 200 assault shuttles the command
[141]
tower of the executive class was almost
[143]
twice as wide as the length of a CR 90
[145]
Karelian Corvette and required its own
[147]
dedicated shield generators and
[149]
life-support system the tower played
[151]
host to the bridge officers quarters
[153]
mess halls Starfighter coordination
[155]
centers and hollow net communication
[157]
Suites the command towers shaft was
[159]
lined with massive heatsink panels and
[162]
radiators intended to dissipate the heat
[164]
built up by the ship's gargantuan
[166]
HyperMatter reactors these reactors
[168]
provided the massive amounts of energy
[170]
needed to power the vessels 13 engines
[172]
each the size of a small starship in
[175]
their own right at least one executive
[176]
class vessel the terror was known to
[179]
have been outfitted with a Stygian
[180]
crystal fueled cloaking device allowing
[182]
the ship to become fully invisible to
[184]
both sensors and the naked eye this
[186]
feature increased the already massive
[188]
monetary cost of constructing an
[190]
executor class to a level even the
[192]
Galactic Empire could not reasonably
[194]
sustain for this reason the terror
[195]
remained the only super stardestroyer
[197]
ever to be outfitted with cloaking
[199]
technology and the ship was assigned as
[201]
a carrier for the Empire's wing of
[203]
prototype Thai phantoms until its
[205]
destruction by the Rebel Alliance in 3
[207]
ABY construction of the first executive
[210]
class vessels began on the order of
[212]
Emperor Palpatine in 3 BBY initially two
[215]
of the vessels were built simultaneously
[216]
the executor the first of the class was
[219]
constructed at fond or shipyards while
[221]
her sister ship the loose anchor was
[223]
assembled at kuat drive yards the
[225]
executor would go on to become easily
[227]
the most well known ship of its class
[229]
striking fear into the galaxy as the
[231]
personal flagship of the Sith Lord Darth
[233]
Vader though the Empire built several
[235]
more executor class vessels across the
[237]
course of the Galactic Civil War Vader's
[239]
flagship was always the most famous at
[241]
the head of the huge battle group known
[243]
as Death Squadron the executor was
[245]
involved in several crucial engagements
[247]
with the Rebel Alliance across the
[248]
course of the Galactic Civil War
[250]
including the blockade of Yavin and the
[252]
Battle of Hoth the executor would
[254]
finally meet its end in the pivotal
[256]
battle over Endor in four ABY having
[258]
been expressly ordered to remain its
[260]
station-keeping
[261]
outside of the main engagement zone and
[263]
with its fighter complement out
[264]
position engaging Alliance forces the
[267]
executor was left vulnerable to rebel
[269]
star fighter attacks and suffered damage
[271]
to one of its command towers sensor
[272]
domes overloading the bridge deflector
[274]
shields in a moment of tremendous luck
[277]
for the Alliance the brief loss of
[278]
shielding on the executives bridge
[280]
coincided with Alliance a wing pilot our
[282]
ville clinic suffering serious damage to
[285]
his craft and electing to sacrifice his
[287]
life by ramming the executives bridge
[289]
the small fighter penetrated the super
[291]
Star Destroyers command deck and
[293]
exploded instantly killing Admiral
[295]
thermos Piatt and his entire command
[297]
staff with control completely lost in
[299]
the middle of a battle maneuver the
[301]
mighty executor slammed into the surface
[303]
of the second Death Star and was
[305]
completely obliterated though the loss
[306]
of the executor at Endor would be a
[308]
serious blow to the Imperial remnant in
[310]
the years following the battle other
[312]
executor class vessels such as the Lu
[314]
Sankhya Reaper Intimidator and Knight
[317]
hammer would go on to serve in several
[319]
conflicts years after the Galactic Civil
[321]
War some in service to the Imperial
[323]
remnant some at the command of rogue
[325]
Imperial warlords and some even seized
[327]
by the New Republic to serve in their
[329]
growing star fleet regardless of their
[331]
masters however the terrifying presence
[333]
of the executor was never diminished and
[335]
the massive vessels continued to be one
[337]
of the most feared sites in the galaxy
[339]
even decades after the Emperor's death
