i want to bring in katie pavlich who is
[1]
also watching this with us and just to
[3]
mention to our viewers we are now
[4]
getting word that they are going to
[7]
begin to take a vote um
[9]
and tell me uh producers what you just
[12]
gave me in terms of who is putting that
[14]
out there and what order it's going to
[15]
go in
[19]
yeah
[21]
all right so it's steny hoyer making
[23]
that announcement it's going to be first
[24]
on infrastructure then on buildback
[26]
better so it looks like they have
[28]
something that they're ready to vote on
[29]
katie
[30]
so if they're doing the infrastructure
[32]
bill first it seems like the
[34]
progressives have actually blinked here
[36]
because they wanted to vote for the
[38]
spending bill first before they approved
[40]
the infrastructure bill for the sake of
[42]
the senate so it'll be interesting to
[44]
see what the agreement was that was made
[47]
between nancy pelosi who's been in and
[48]
out of meetings all day with the far
[51]
left of of her caucus you know there's
[53]
this
[54]
generally and broadly speaking martha
[56]
the politics here of course are at play
[57]
especially given the election we had
[59]
this week in virginia you know far left
[62]
democrats in the house don't have to
[63]
worry about being in swing districts
[66]
they are in far left congressional
[67]
districts and don't necessarily have to
[69]
worry about losing their seats whereas
[71]
there are a number of moderate democrats
[73]
who are looking at this and going we
[75]
don't know what's in it we haven't had
[76]
it scored
[77]
and so it'll be interesting to see what
[79]
the justification is on the other end of
[81]
this and the spending package of
[83]
moderates agreeing to allowing a vote on
[85]
this spending bill to go forward without
[88]
a cbo score which earlier today was a no
[91]
go
[92]
so
[93]
here we are in some kind of deal that's
[94]
been made between the two
[98]
so i just want to pull up this is a
[99]
tweet by nancy pelosi
[102]
may 2nd 2017. she said americans have a
[105]
right to know if hashtag trumpcare's
[108]
impact on their lives republicans
[110]
shouldn't vote with an un with an un
[113]
dated cbo score so essentially you know
[116]
i think this is what katie americans get
[118]
so tired of yeah of people talking out
[120]
of both sides of their mouths frankly
[122]
whether it's republicans or democrats
[124]
but there's no consistency in the
[125]
message so now they're saying they need
[127]
to plow ahead without a cbo score she
[129]
said exactly the opposite when it came
[130]
to the trump tax bill
[132]
well the question martha is why are we
[134]
delaying a cbo score a cbo score is a
[137]
basic mechanism that is used so that
[139]
american taxpayers know where their
[141]
money is going and in this case if
[142]
they're going to plow forward without
[144]
doing that you're essentially telling
[146]
americans well we're just going to spend
[148]
our mone your money on things that we
[149]
haven't even really decided how much
[151]
they're going to cost on a bill that is
[154]
already has a price tag of 1.75
[158]
trillion
[159]
dollars i mean it you know just 10 years
[161]
ago when barack obama
[163]
passed the the bailout for 900 billion
[165]
dollars it was a lot of money and so
[167]
they're moving forward without the cbo
[169]
score they're going to live with the
[171]
consequences of passing something and
[172]
not knowing what's in it because
[175]
people will find out eventually what is
[176]
in it yeah nancy pelosi's words
[179]
so we're just getting all of this you
[182]
know as we went to air moments ago and i
[183]
just want to clarify because you you
[185]
made exactly the right point a moment
[186]
ago because they are going to vote on
[188]
the infrastructure bill first which
[190]
progressives did not want and now we're
[192]
learning that the vote on buildback
[194]
better is just going to be on the rule
[196]
it's not on the actual bill so you're
[199]
going to see a separation here which is
[200]
exactly what you were getting at quick
[202]
thought on that before i let you go
[204]
again i'm very curious about the the
[206]
backroom dealing that went on here
[207]
because earlier today there was a red
[209]
line on not moving forward without a cbo
[211]
score and the left and the progressive
[213]
caucus have been holding this up for
[215]
weeks and after the virginia election
[216]
we're saying we're going to move full
[218]
steam ahead so certainly there was
[220]
something that was done here in one side
[222]
of this linked and now of course we'll
[223]
move over to um the senate when it comes
[226]
to the spending bill but
[227]
infrastructure's already been passed on
[228]
that side of capitol hill yeah it may
[231]
very well be that tuesday's vote has
[233]
shifted the opinion of some people and
[235]
the need to get something done
[237]
may feel a little bit more urgent than
[239]
it has in the past so they're going with
[240]
infrastructure first and the rule for
[242]
buildback better katie thank you very
[244]
much
