Combined Insurance Helps Veterans Transition into Business - YouTube

Channel: Military Makeover

[5]
(music) You're transitioning out and you
[7]
need a job
[8]
I'm here to tell you that there are
[9]
employers out there who truly honor and
[11]
respect your service and sacrifice for
[13]
this country and they're ready to train
[14]
you and hire you for your next life in
[16]
your new career.
[20]
A call to service often
[21]
springs from a strong family tradition.
[24]
My father, my grandfathers, and my uncles
[27]
were all military.
[28]
My paternal grandfather was also a Marine.
[31]
I knew
[32]
since the 6th grade that I wanted to be
[33]
a soldier.
[34]
I joined the Navy right after
[35]
high school, I have a family tradition of
[38]
serving, so my dad was in the Marines and
[40]
his dad was in the Army airborne, so I
[43]
just want to continue that tradition.
[45]
I joined the Coast Guard back in
[47]
February of 2006 I decided to join based
[51]
on my family history.
[52]
My grandfather's were
[53]
both in the US Army so I really wanted
[55]
to serve my country and make my grandfathers proud.
[60]
And new family
[61]
traditions are born as veterans inspire
[63]
their own children.
[64]
My son ended up
[65]
saying I want to be a Marine pilot so he
[67]
did, he chose Marine Corps and became a
[70]
pilot and ended up flying Harriers
[72]
actually.
[73]
Robert Wiedower is a distinguished Marine Corps
[75]
aviator.
[77]
Bob now manages combined military
[79]
programs.
[83]
The experience of separating from the
[84]
military is unique and personal to each
[88]
veteran.
[89]
Of course I wanted to go in and
[90]
be a career soldier but at the 12-13 year
[93]
mark my family became more important you
[97]
know I had children to take care of I
[98]
had no room not to have a plan.
[102]
Combined Insurance has consistently
[104]
ranked as a top military friendly employer
[107]
and has been ranked number one in 2019
[110]
demonstrating a company-wide commitment
[112]
to providing meaningful employment to
[114]
former military and their family members.
[118]
Because of the great customer service
[119]
that Combined Insurance provides we’re
[121]
actually able to recruit a lot of our
[122]
customers as well as military veterans,
[126]
as well as spouses, people that are
[129]
really great with other people, and want
[131]
to do the right thing because it's the right thing to
[133]
do.
[134]
When I got a call from the recruiter
[137]
and they kind of you know went over you
[139]
know the structure of Combined, the way
[140]
that things work here, I was blown
[142]
away.
[143]
We want to attract and hire as many
[144]
veterans as we possibly can and to
[147]
support them while they're here and
[148]
stimulate their growth here in the
[150]
company.
[151]
The Chubb organization is the
[153]
world's largest publicly-traded property
[155]
and casual insurance company in the
[157]
world.
[158]
Being a part of that as Combined
[160]
Insurance provides many more opportunities for advancement,
[164]
learning different skills in there as
[166]
well.
[167]
For nearly 100 years Combined Insurance
[169]
has thrived based on the vision and
[171]
inspiration of its founder W Clement
[174]
Stone.
[175]
The company is still guided today
[177]
by his 17 success principles.
[180]
Principle number one: always exhibit a
[182]
positive mental attitude.
[184]
At Combined they call
[185]
it PMA.
[192]
From the day you walk through these
[199]
doors and come to sales school you'll
[201]
understand the ability that we have as a
[204]
company to have that team or to have
[205]
that camaraderie and that sense of
[207]
belonging.
[208]
Every Thursday we actually
[209]
give out pins, like the lapel that I'm
[210]
wearing, here to recognize all the
[213]
veterans in our classes each and every
[216]
week.
[217]
We have a veteran's support group
[218]
which is a periodic gathering electronically across the
[222]
country of everyone as well as a message
[225]
board where we can share ideas.
[231]
We encourage
[232]
anyone interested in an opportunity with
[234]
Combined Insurance to contact them and
[236]
visit their website combinedinsurance.com slash
[240]
veterans.
[241]
What I would tell a veteran that is interested in
[242]
working at Combined Insurance is, this is the
[245]
place for them.
[246]
If they want structure in their
[248]
lives, leadership, teamwork that this is one of the companies
[250]
that embodies all of those things and it will just feel
[253]
second nature to them to be a part of the team
[255]
here at Combined Insurance.
[256]
You're coming to an environment that I
[259]
think you'll really enjoy right off the
[261]
bat and get a lot out of it our whole
[263]
goal there is to make you successful the
[265]
following week.
[266]
We not only accept
[268]
veterans we seek them, and we desire them
[271]
to be here and we celebrate them while
[274]
they are here.
[276]
During the transition we
[277]
often look for employment, not only that,
[279]
we look for meaningful employment
[280]
understandable due to your service, doing
[283]
that in the community where you live
[284]
hits home and close to the heart just
[286]
like it did when we were serving abroad
[288]
and that's great work for a veteran.
