Biden restarting this Trump-era policy amid festering border crisis - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[0]
the blind administration could start
[2]
sending asylum seekers back to mexico as
[5]
early as next week after being forced by
[8]
a court order to reinstate the trump era
[11]
remain in mexico policy national border
[13]
patrol council president brandon judd
[15]
joins us now and so brandon jumping
[17]
right in is this a good move it's too
[19]
little too late and how quickly will
[21]
border patrol see relief
[24]
that's a that's a lot right there it is
[26]
a little too late but this is something
[28]
that needs to happen unfortunately a lot
[30]
of the damage has already been done but
[32]
as long as this is implemented president
[34]
trump has already given us the blueprint
[36]
on how to go about dropping illegal
[38]
immigration and if we can do that if we
[40]
can drop illegal immigration we can then
[42]
go after the criminal aspect the
[43]
criminality that exists on the border
[45]
and go after the human smugglers on the
[47]
drug traffickers and everything that
[49]
crosses that border illegally we can
[51]
then go after that um unfortunately
[53]
again this is you know we're already
[56]
more than a million people into the
[58]
united states um passed due on this uh
[60]
this policy
[62]
now as you know the bite administration
[64]
could appeal the decision meanwhile
[66]
though is mexico okay with this
[69]
no they're not and that's one of the the
[71]
main issues that's one of the reasons
[73]
why it's taken so long and this court
[75]
order this happened months ago yet the
[77]
body administration has been slow
[79]
rolling it simply because mexico doesn't
[80]
want this to happen and let's be honest
[83]
mexico looks at their bottom line just
[85]
like any other economy does and cartels
[88]
generate billions of dollars of profit
[90]
for the
[92]
the mexican economy and so if you cut
[94]
this off you're going to cut into
[97]
what the money that goes into that
[98]
economy and what goes to the stores so
[101]
the mexican government has always pushed
[103]
back against us the only reason it
[104]
happened um in the trump administration
[106]
is because he threatened terrorists he
[109]
threatened to take away more money than
[110]
the cartels were bringing in that's why
[113]
mexico gave into the uh the migrant
[115]
protection protocol um policy and and
[118]
that's the reason why mexico is pushing
[119]
back so hard right now is because the by
[121]
the administration just isn't taking the
[123]
same steps as what the trump
[124]
administration did
[126]
so you're saying the power is in the
[127]
purse and plus i mean look i get your
[129]
point but we know it's there a lot of
[131]
complexities involved so it's not as
[132]
easy and as simple as that but i i'll
[135]
take your point and move on because i
[136]
wanted to ask you about the idea of
[140]
giving these asylum seekers illegal
[142]
immigrants however you want to phrase it
[144]
the option to receive the covet
[146]
vaccination either before being sent
[148]
back to mexico or returning back to the
[151]
u.s for processing what do you think
[152]
about that
[153]
it's extremely important right now if
[155]
you if you look at all the people that
[156]
have been released into the united
[158]
states there's no way that we could have
[160]
forced them to receive that vaccine
[163]
because the body administration did not
[165]
implement the same policies that he's
[166]
doing with united states citizens
[169]
but and so we've released millions of
[171]
people into the united states uh without
[173]
the vaccine so if if they are given that
[176]
option then they go back to mexico and
[177]
they wait when they come back into the
[179]
united states at least we'll know that
[181]
they're vaccinated at least we'll know
[183]
that they can't spread the virus as
[185]
readily as what they otherwise could
[187]
have if they weren't vaccinated
[190]
all right so we're going to move from
[191]
the southern border and go up
[193]
up north so in
[195]
new york you've got legal residents in
[196]
new york talking about green card
[198]
holders more than 800 000 of them
[200]
if approved next month green card
[202]
holders in new york are going to be
[204]
allowed to vote in municipal elections
[207]
and on local initiatives i mean what do
[209]
you think about this could this
[210]
encourage legal immigration
[214]
yeah this this is really really
[216]
concerning and that's just one of those
[218]
things it's another magnet that's going
[220]
to draw people into the united states if
[222]
they know that they can cross the border
[224]
illegally
[225]
no no no no wait a minute brandon you're
[227]
missing the point
[228]
green card holders are legal they went
[230]
through a process so i'm saying i'm
[233]
asking you if they are if they realize
[235]
listen if you come to this country
[237]
legally the right way perhaps you can
[239]
you know enjoy some more freedoms that
[241]
we we have here in our great country
[244]
arthel right now the house just passed a
[247]
bill that is talking about legalizing
[249]
giving green cards to all these people
[251]
that cross the border illegally what i
[253]
am saying is is any time we incentivize
[256]
people that are not united states
[258]
citizens um to be able to participate in
[262]
government all that's doing is
[263]
encouraging more people to come because
[265]
they recognize that there could be a
[267]
future amnesty down the road it's just
[270]
one of those
[271]
that could invite people to come to you
[273]
no i hear you i didn't read that you're
[275]
telling me the administration is
[276]
considering giving green cards like
[278]
handing out green cards to people who
[280]
cross the border that makes no sense are
[282]
you serious
[283]
the the bill the bill the reconciliation
[286]
bill that the house just passed that
[288]
just went to congress that just went to
[290]
the senate yes they're talking about an
[292]
amnesty for millions of people that
[295]
crossed our borders illegally that
[297]
amnesty is one thing but giving somebody
[300]
a green card is another thing so i i i
[302]
want to make sure that we we know what
[304]
we're talking about here because i'm
[305]
telling you right now i i'm not familiar
[308]
arthel i i've looked at bill up one side
[310]
down the other i have to and yes there
[312]
are pathways for people to become legal
[315]
the only way that you can become legal a
[317]
permanent resident is through a green
[319]
card a green card is in fact called a
[321]
permanent resident alien card i know
[323]
what a green card is but brandon listen
[326]
i'm i'm with you i'm with you here on
[328]
this that i don't think people should
[329]
just be you know you got to go come
[331]
through the right way okay but a pathway
[334]
is one thing
[335]
a pathway is one thing
[337]
i'm getting the impression maybe the
[339]
wrong impression that you're saying you
[340]
show up it's like oh you get a green
[341]
card you get a green card i mean the
[343]
pathway is that there's a process to
[344]
follow and you have to prove that you
[346]
have been uh contributing positively to
[350]
this uh our economy and our society
[353]
our phil exactly but again that's one of
[356]
those magnets just because somebody
[357]
crosses the border illegally and then
[359]
comes here and then contributes um to
[362]
society contributes pace taxes that is
[365]
that pathway that is the pathway to that
[367]
permanent resident alien card and that's
[369]
what's concerning any time that you open
[372]
up government to non-citizens all you're
[375]
doing is creating another magnet but it
[378]
isn't
[378]
that's legal that's legal immigration
[381]
though i mean it's it's you if you don't
[383]
want people coming over here without
[384]
going through the process
[386]
you know learning the language learning
[387]
the constitution answering all those
[389]
questions and then you know again
[391]
contributing to society so that's a
[393]
pathway um listen
[396]
real well
[398]
maybe i'm not explaining myself real
[399]
well but the bill that just the
[401]
reconciliation bill that just passed the
[403]
house
[404]
is offering legalization permanent
[407]
resident alien car okay two people that
[409]
cross the border illegally it's a magnet
[412]
and that's brandon
[414]
i hear he's a concern nobody wants to
[416]
have a quote magnet to have people
[418]
illegally
[420]
come into the country so i'm gonna thank
[422]
you for now uh president of the national
[424]
