How To Fill Out Your Florida Title When You Sell Your Scooter / Vehicle - YouTube

Channel: New Scooters 4 Less

[0]
I'm Alison I am the office management
[2]
girl and I also do all of the title work
[5]
here at new skeeters for less and we get
[7]
a lot of questions about how to fill out
[9]
a title if you're selling your scooter
[11]
back to us to a friend anything like
[13]
that so I'm gonna teach you guys how to
[14]
do that right now you're going to need
[16]
your certificate of title which is a
[18]
blue piece of paper kind of looks like a
[20]
birth certificate and then you're also
[21]
going to need a bill of sale I recommend
[24]
using the state of Florida's version if
[26]
you just google for me eight two zero
[30]
five zero it'll come up really easily
[34]
for you it's within the first couple
[36]
results on the Florida Department of
[38]
Highway and motor safety vehicles so to
[41]
fill out the title correctly um this is
[44]
what title looks like your scooter
[47]
information is going to be in the middle
[50]
ish section middle top section where the
[52]
blue starts it's going to include the
[54]
VIN number your make body weight all of
[57]
those things about your scooter in this
[59]
section notice your odometer status is
[62]
here that's gonna be important in a few
[63]
minutes this tells you who the
[65]
registered owner is over this registered
[67]
owner it needs to be the one filling out
[69]
this paperwork as the seller so keep
[71]
that in mind some people have their
[73]
scooters registered in their parents
[75]
name so if it isn't your parents name
[77]
your parents signature is what's going
[78]
to need to be on this one the part that
[80]
you were going to fill out to sell your
[82]
scooter is actually here at the bottom
[84]
so you're going to start here by you as
[87]
a seller filling out the purchasers name
[90]
and address so those are those two
[92]
pieces of information in orange talking
[93]
about enter the selling price here and
[96]
that's going to go to the state of
[98]
Florida for tax purposes the date that
[101]
you are selling their scooter is also
[103]
important to include here the next part
[106]
is going to be the odometer disclosure
[109]
make sure you're filling in the exact
[111]
number of miles that your odometer is
[114]
showing currently this reading should
[118]
always be a bigger number than that
[120]
odometer status that we talked about up
[122]
here so this is one mile so anything I
[124]
write in here that's over one mile is
[126]
great and that's what the state wants to
[127]
see make sure in the section you're also
[130]
choosing whether it's a five or six
[131]
digit odometer
[133]
protip scooters are typically a five
[136]
digit odometer and you're going to track
[138]
reflects actual mileage because that is
[140]
what your odometer is stating the next
[143]
part is going to be these signatures
[145]
these seller which is the person again
[147]
who is named as the registered owner up
[149]
here is going to sign and print their
[152]
name here the purchaser will then sign
[154]
and print their name down here at that
[156]
point you're gonna turn this title over
[158]
and on this top section you're going to
[162]
want to fill this out I was the seller
[163]
your this is basically a statement
[165]
saying that you have sold your vehicle
[167]
on this date make sure it matches the
[169]
front you're going to name the purchaser
[171]
this is where their driver's license or
[173]
ID number comes into play so make sure
[174]
you fill that in the address of the
[177]
purchaser is what's going to go here and
[178]
the price that you sold it for and then
[181]
you're going to need to sign here a note
[183]
about Co sellers if on the front of your
[185]
title there are two people named here as
[188]
the registered owner and the word and is
[192]
used between their names you are going
[194]
to need both signatures on this title to
[197]
sell the vehicle if there is an or
[200]
between those two names then you only
[203]
have to have one of those signatures
[205]
required by the state of Florida all
[208]
right back to the back okay so with this
[211]
section up here you'll see it's
[212]
perforated along this line right here
[213]
you're gonna rip that part off and keep
[217]
that for your records and make a copy
[219]
and then you're going to fill out the
[221]
bill of sale alright so the next one
[224]
that we're gonna fill out which is about
[226]
Florida form eight two zero five zero
[229]
also none of this bill of sale is going
[232]
to include a lot of the information that
[234]
was on your title so keep that handy so
[236]
for the bill of sale form you're going
[238]
to check on this top part bill of sale
[240]
then this next information is going to
[243]
be your scooter information or your
[245]
vehicle information which is going to be
[247]
all the information included at the top
[248]
of your title make sure you're matching
[251]
it exactly because it does matter just
[253]
to make sure that you get the year make
[255]
manufacture body type model isn't
[258]
necessarily shown on your title if you
[261]
know your model go ahead and put it in
[263]
that color
[264]
certificate of title number
[266]
which is just gonna be your title number
[267]
here and the vehicle identification
[270]
number that is the most important number
[272]
on this form you absolutely need to make
[275]
sure that that number matches exactly
[276]
what is on the title the next section is
[280]
going to be the information of the
[283]
purchaser so you're going to again name
[285]
their full name address the date that
[289]
you are selling them in the scooter and
[290]
then the selling price that you have
[292]
sold them the scooter floor the next
[294]
section is very similar to the section
[296]
that you've filled out on the title for
[297]
the odometer disclosure and you're going
[300]
to track five or six digit odometer fill
[303]
in the exact mileage that matches what
[305]
you wrote in on the title and fill in
[307]
the date and again you're going to
[309]
choose reflects the actual mileage at
[312]
the bottom part is where you need
[313]
signatures so the seller signature goes
[316]
first with their full address and then
[319]
the purchasers signature will go down
[322]
here with the date if there are two
[328]
people buying the scooter you can always
[331]
fill out the co purchaser information as
[333]
well on both the title and the bill of
[336]
sale so once the sale is complete and
[338]
you have both of these forms filled out
[340]
completely you're going to take that top
[343]
perforated section that you filled out
[344]
of your title and also the bill of sale
[347]
and make a copy of both you're gonna
[349]
take the originals of those documents
[351]
and mail them to the Florida DHS muv
[354]
which the address is included on the
[356]
very top of this back of the title form
[360]
if you don't feel comfortable throwing
[363]
those things in the mail you can always
[365]
drop them off at your local tag office
[367]
which I also recommend if you want to
[369]
absolutely ensure that all of your
[370]
paperwork is filled out perfectly and
[372]
that the state is going to accept it you
[374]
can always meet your purchaser there and
[376]
fill out all of your people work and
[378]
take care of any taxes or anything while
[380]
you're at that office if you do have any
[383]
other questions or you need a little bit
[384]
of help definitely goes to call at the
[385]
shop and we'd be more than happy to help
[387]
you guys okay
