on a field trip we are going up to

Sunset Strip

we're gonna go film a twenty million

dollar home I'm gonna give you some tips
[9]
on how to shoot some high-end real
[12]
estate

so the number one thing is you're gonna

want a camera that has log format sony
[33]
a7s to a7 r2 a7r Mark 3 but you can even
[38]
do it with the a 6300 6500 a 7s mark 1

the list goes on when you are shooting

real estate you want the walls and the
[46]
interior space to be as bright and as
[49]
welcoming as you can and you also want
[52]
to be able to expose for the view
[53]
outside especially with these high-end
[56]
houses a 20 million dollar house is only
[58]
worth 20 million bucks because of the
[60]
view now with regular picture profiles
[63]
you'll expose for the inside and the
[65]
windows will be blown out you'll expose
[67]
for outside and the inside will be very
[69]
dark and it won't look friendly or
[71]
welcoming s log2 can be easily accessed
[74]
in your picture profile mode for all of
[76]
those cameras listed it's the exact same
[78]
turn the camera on you go to menus
[80]
picture profile 7 this is your base s
[83]
log 2 it's the most aggressive s log
[86]
there is you're gonna get the most
[88]
dynamic range out of that
[89]
don't bother with s log 3 s log 2 is the
[92]
one you want you will get 14 stops of
[94]
dynamic range s log 2 is very hard to
[96]
work with you are removing a ton of
[99]
saturation contrast and detail and it

makes it difficult to make sure you're
[103]
in focus or sometimes even make sure
[106]
you're exposing right the best way that

I've found is I actually created my own
[110]
what I record to an ad on mos external
[113]
recorder and I burn my LUT in so I'm
[117]
constantly exposing on the fly I'm
[119]
seeing exactly what the final image is
[121]
and then I'm recording it to the Atomos
[123]
and I'm burning that file in there so I
[125]
don't have to do any color correction or
[127]
any of that in post but I have the power
[130]
of s log and that right there is the
[133]
number one game-changer that has
[135]
elevated me from $200,000 homes to two

hundred million dollar homes

that's a humble brag right there go

ahead and delete this part from the

video now the easiest workaround for not
[145]
having log in your camera is just shoot
[147]
everything at sunset you actually need
[149]
less dynamic range during sunset you can

expose for interiors annex

so the second thing that you're in a

want in your kit is the right lens

I recommend the 12 millimeter la Wa for

big real estate stuff you're gonna need

at least a 14 millimeter and if you're

just starting off and you can only

afford one lens 1635 will hold you over
[177]
for a really long time but if you can
[179]
afford it I would recommend rectilinear
[182]
lens it means your vertical lines are
[184]
gonna look straight it's gonna make
[185]
everything look amazing it's blazing

fast you can open it wide up and you're
[190]
gonna have very little distortion

formatic aberrations or vignette inky

lower lens it's about a thousand bucks I
[197]
get it it's [聽__聽] expensive but if you

want to go legit this is what you gotta

do

alright tip number three you're gonna

have to clean it sucks the truth is that

these homes that you're gonna first

start out doing 90% of your work is

gonna be just straightening organizing

aligning things wiping things down I

bring Windex with me in a rag just to

kind of polish things up and make chrome
[228]
shine so when I first started off it

wasn't with these mega mansions it was

with two hundred thousand dollar homes

in Bakersfield you gotta hide people's
[238]
junk in this house it looks pretty
[240]
amazing because it has five hundred
[241]
thousand dollars of set-dressing
[242]
I still had to Swiffer the white floors
[244]
and I had to bring in the trash cans for
[246]
the drone shots so you know just
[250]

half of my job is being a janitor

despite being around amazing stuff if

you guys haven't already got a gimbal
[282]
you have to jump on the bandwagon you
[284]
got to get a gimbal it's 2018 every 12
[286]
year old now has a gimbal this has

easily replaced by tripod glide cam and
[291]
slider this is the workhorse I use this
[294]
for everything I would not be able to do
[296]
as much real estate videography as I am
[299]
without this bad boy the one I recommend
[302]
is the Zion crane - it'll hold 1dx mark
[304]
- with a 24 to 70 lens it doesn't get
[307]
heavier than that you know the Zion
[308]
crane - is about 700 bucks but there are
[310]
cheaper ones especially for the lighter
[312]
cameras that I mentioned you get one for
[314]
like three or four hundred dollars
[315]
nowadays which is a steal like you can't
[317]
even get a good tripod for that so
[320]

but the last little pro tip is that you
[335]
always want remember you're selling
[336]
something so there's things that you
[338]
want to show there are things that you
[339]
want to accent and there's some things
[341]
you want to hide and this philosophy

also goes into the whole style of the

video that you make the flow the style

the shots that you get the Edit the pace
[351]
of the edit the music that you pick all
[353]
these things factored in if you're using
[356]
all these crazy flares and transitions
[358]
and luma fades and you know these fun
[361]
little flip rotation things that I like

to do in my videos

you're not gonna appeal to someone
[367]
that's actually gonna buy the home they
[369]
just want to see the information they
[370]
don't care how flashy or trendy or

whatever it looks they want the

information what are you selling

why are you filming this bedroom I'm

filming this bedroom because it's the

main master bedroom and it comes with

this freaking amazing view and this is

what's gonna sell this home this room is

what makes this home worth 20 million

dollars and not seven million dollars

like the house next door all right so
