What happened to D'Angelo Wallace? - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[0]
This is
[0]
D'Angelo Wallace, a very popular YouTuber
with 3 million combined subscribers.
[4]
He's mainly known
[5]
for his videos of controversial YouTubers
and internet personalities.
[8]
He managed to achieve success
rather quickly due to him
[11]
standing out by single handedly canceling
the YouTube beauty community.
[14]
And Shane Dawson,
[15]
who was once viewed as an innocent,
charming guy until D'Angelo Wallace made an
[19]
hour long documentary.
[20]
And with that video
reaching 20 million views,
[22]
the outcome for D'Angelo was 700,000
subscribers.
[26]
D'Angelo's
content falls into the commentary niche.
[28]
He is known for many things,
[30]
including his dry humor, witty personality
and asmr-ish voice.
[34]
He is often called the commentary king
and managed to become one due to his well
[38]
researched
and produced videos on his main channel.
[40]
But nowadays,
we haven't heard from Daniel in a while.
[43]
He basically vanished
without warning well, from YouTube.
[46]
At least he hasn't posted a video
on his second channel in five months.
[49]
In his popular channel hasn't
seen any uploads since the very beginning
[52]
of 2021, and fans have noticed
the inactivity of his channel,
[56]
with the fans
[56]
often expressing concern in the YouTube
comments section and elsewhere.
[60]
D'Angelo Wallace has been gone for a while
now, but why could it be as simple
[63]
as a burnout or something
deeper than that?
[66]
To answer this question,
we first need a better understanding
[68]
of D'Angelo Wallace
as a person and his channel.
[71]
So let's go back to around 2018.
[73]
When D'Angelo Wallace first started
making videos at the time,
[76]
At the time,
[76]
he was an art channel
making digital art videos as well as art
[80]
commentary where we would see him
doing his patented ranting.
[83]
Except it was ranting towards art instead
of him talking about whatever he wants.
[87]
He kept doing art
[87]
style videos for about a year and a half
until he took a sudden two month break
[91]
and came back and completely ditched the
art videos to the now-familiar
[95]
quote on quote "keeping up with the trends"
type commentary.
[98]
In 2019, D'Angelo created another channel.
[101]
D'Angelo Wallace same name,
but with no spaces.
[104]
This channel's intention was to post
commentary videos
[106]
frequently in which he did
have success doing that for a while.
[109]
But there was an inevitable
problem...
[111]
Burnout.
[112]
He had stretches
where he would post every single day
[115]
while still adding the quality factor
to his videos.
[117]
As you can imagine, that's a lot of work
and stress for one person to research,
[121]
edit in post videos every single day.
[123]
In its first video, D'Angelo said quote,
"But then, of course,
[127]
it got to the point where the burnout was
so intense, and I had made
[130]
20 videos in 30 days and I was like,
This is not maintainable."
[134]
End quote.
[135]
D'Angelo decides to put daily videos
on hold on the second channel
[138]
and put his focus on bigger projects,
so that meant taking more time
[141]
to post the video
rather than upload daily.
[143]
He started the transition right here
by posting a video exposing Shallon
[147]
Lester for being accused
of stigmatizing mental illness.
[150]
He then made a video about Lana Del
[152]
Rey and Jeffree Star
exposing them in similar fashion.
[155]
But it wasn't until he posted
[156]
the Shane Dawson video where things changed
for D'Angelo's channel by a wide margin.
[160]
He saw a crazy amount of success.
[162]
This video
easily made him go to about 400,000
[164]
subscribers or so, to achieving
1 million subscribers within a month.
[168]
Sadly, the video isn't up on his channel
due to personal reasons,
[172]
but you can easily find it online
if you want to.
[174]
With this fame came popular media articles
D'Angelo was featured
[177]
on like Insider,
Vulture, et cetera, et cetera.
[181]
So you get the message how you blew up
and became a commentary icon
[184]
in this short amount of time.
[185]
So let's fast forward to the present.
[187]
D'Angelo Wallace is missing.
Where has D'Angelo gone? And why?
[190]
Well, for longtime
[191]
fans of D'Angelo, you would know
he takes breaks from time to time.
[194]
Hell, even his banner confirms that, but
this time around seems a bit different,
[198]
as he hasn't posted any videos
on his main channel in the past year
[202]
and hasn't posted a video on his second
channel nearly a half a year ago.
[205]
He made an appearance on Twitter
and YouTube around December, hinting
[208]
that he would make a comeback,
but made a tweet two weeks
[210]
later and dismissed what he said
two weeks prior.
[213]
So now we are here currently with no sign
of him returning any time soon.
[217]
But why could this be?
[218]
Well, I have three hypothetical reasons
that could factor in D'Angelo's absence,
[222]
starting with the least likely reason,
but could very well be a major factor
[225]
in his absence.
[226]
The "SNEAKO beef". In a nutshell
[228]
SNEAKO is a fellow YouTuber
who also makes commentary vids,
[231]
but not like the commentary channels
that you originally see across YouTube.
[234]
Here's more of the controversial channel,
to say the least.
[237]
I made a video on him
[238]
if you want a more in-depth
dove into his channel link in description
[241]
Anyways, this beef between D'Angelo
and SNEAKO started back in February
[245]
2021, with D'Angelo commenting
"he's for the streets" on SNEAKO's
[249]
"We broke up馃様" video.
[251]
For context,
the video was about SNEAKO
[253]
admitting to cheating on his
then girlfriend.
[254]
The comments on SNEAKO's
video were ruthless, and D'Angelo
[257]
decided to add to the fire
by commenting a semi-joke. SNEAKO saw this
[261]
and retaliated with a 20-minute video
basically roasting the hell
[264]
out of D'Angelo Wallace.
[266]
SNEAKO: ...at his braces
and the fact that he looks like
[268]
a Tik Tok Lil Tecca.
[270]
Not even just the fact that he dresses
[272]
like Ellen, just his voice,
his face, his-
[276]
Remember when you had to run the mile
back in middle school,
[278]
he was the dude he was wearing the knit
suit, walking in the back.
[281]
No, I'm not going to run and get my suit sweaty-
[284]
There is some weird hater energy inside of you dawg.
[286]
If you have any friends,
I bet when your friends like,
[289]
get something accomplished,
you're like, "Oh, that's that's great-
[291]
Heh..heh
[292]
*Twitches head*
[292]
Heu-heugh!
[294]
Oh, you got a new job?
[295]
Heh...
[296]
Wow."
[296]
Officially Ronny: But keep in mind, though, the
motivation behind this video was based
[299]
on a comment, but again, I put this
as at least likely reason for his absence
[303]
because this beef happened
all the way back in February 2021
[307]
and from what it looks like, D'Angelo
pretty much ignored the situation by not
[311]
responding and continued to post regularly
up until his recent disappearance.
[314]
The last two reasons
that factor into D'Angelo's absence is in
[318]
no specific order, because I think
there are both significant reasons
[321]
for his absence, starting with the second
to last reason Canyon County.
[325]
This is a project D'Angelo
has been working on for a while now.
[327]
Now we don't know that much info on this,
as he hasn't told anyone about it (as much).
[331]
All we have so far is some community post
talking about it is pinned tweets
[335]
a website for Canyon County,
and a welcome letter from D'Angelo
[338]
Wallace that promotes Canyon County
if you join his newsletter.
[341]
The last logical reason is depression.
[343]
Depression is something
D'Angelo talks about a lot he mentions it
[346]
when talking about his grandparents
in the "Influencer-19" video and Twitter,
[350]
he said quote,
[351]
"It's unlikely
that I would be making any long-form video
[353]
about these kinds of situations
ever again.
[355]
People enjoy the content
because I take emotionally
[358]
charged situations
and present them calmly.
[360]
But the amount of emotional labor
that requires is not something
[363]
I'm willing to repeat for my mental health."
end quote.
[365]
He also uploaded
a total of 46 videos in 2021,
[368]
most of which have been emotional
and disturbing topics to cover.
[372]
It's a no brainer that all these factors
led to D'Angelo suffering creators-burnout
[376]
and who knows what else D'Angelo
is suffering from behind closed doors.
[379]
All we see is the calm, charismatic
commentator that never fails to entertain
[383]
but he is obviously going through
some things.
[385]
All that we can do now is wait
for his return and see what he has to say
[388]
for his unexpected but kind of expected
leave since he disappears all the time.
