[11]
that you must know if you prepare a CFA level I聽 I spent six months to prepare the CFA level I聽聽
[17]
and studying the february exam and i only聽 found out recently that i didn't pass聽聽
[21]
so today I want to talk about what is a CFA one of聽 the toughest exams in the world and the challenges聽聽
[28]
and takeaways of participating in CFA program in聽 the end i'll share my result I throw you guys聽聽
[35]
10 CFA practice questions and see how many you聽 can get it right now let's get started I can't聽聽
[40]
remember how many times I had to explain to my聽 friend when they tried to catch up for a coffee聽聽
[45]
sorry I can't I'm preparing for my CFA exam maybe聽 let's do it after the exam no no no it's not a聽聽
[51]
volunteer fire emergency services it's called聽 chartered financial analyst so basically is a聽聽
[57]
certification offered by a U.S based cfa institute聽 to the investment and finance professionals聽聽
[65]
internationally and the wall street journal rate it the toughest exam in the world so how tough the 聽聽
[71]
the average pass rate of the three CFA exams is about聽 40 to 50% and the February level I exam that聽聽
[79]
I sat was 44% and most candidates who passed the聽 three exams normally take more than one attempt to聽聽
[86]
do so so based on the pass rate of level I level聽 II and level III only 10% of candidates聽聽
[93]
will eventually pass three exams in the first聽 attempt and even the CFA institute suggested to聽聽
[99]
study at least 300 hours before you sit聽 in the exam so that is to say聽聽
[104]
for example you work full-time and you can only聽 allocate two hours per day that is five months聽聽
[110]
of study let's take CPA as a reference which you聽 probably heard of so is cfa more difficult than聽聽
[117]
CPA well i never see it in the cpa exam but I know two of my friends who had worked for Deloitte聽聽
[123]
and KPMG they were trying to get CPA but still聽 couldn't and I came across a CFA forum聽聽
[130]
who is a CPA and holding a master's degree聽 in finance and he says the college only covers聽聽
[140]
70% of CFA level I and 30% of CFA聽 level II and he's currently working on passing聽聽
[148]
the level III exam and he says it's about four聽 to five times more difficult than the CPA to get聽聽
[156]
a charter you need to pass the three exams plus a聽 four years of working experience in the industry聽聽
[162]
all the three exams have 4.5 hours into聽 two sessions although every year cfa changed the聽聽
[168]
curriculum and the weight for the three exams but聽 the top 10 topics that generally remain the same
[288]
What made CFA exam really challenging for me is the time and efforts that I needed to put in I did聽 have a similar feeling very strongly about preparing聽聽
[295]
for gaokao which is the chinese college entrance聽 exam it's a very tough and extensive exam all over聽聽
[301]
again when I was preparing for CFA because I was聽 aiming for 2 hours per day at least times five聽聽
[308]
months is 300 hours before I sit in the exam at聽 At least but in reality, i had to work from home I had聽聽
[317]
to homeschool my elder kids and getting my youtube聽 uploads weekly so i have to say it was pretty聽聽
[325]
messy and going to sleep at 1.30 midnight became聽 a norm for me I know it's not healthy so anyone聽聽
[333]
who wants to get CFA I strongly suggest just to聽 get it when you are in uni anyone who is in year聽聽
[341]
3 in Uni can sit in the cfa exam or the second聽 best time is before you start a family I wish聽聽
[348]
I knew this and cracked the three levels because聽 it's really a privilege to be a cfa in my opinion
[424]
Another challenge that I found is that I struggled to memorise the study materials. In the beginning, I thought um maybe I'm just聽getting old but then one time one of my friends聽聽
[429]
just pointed out probably you need more sleep聽 um yeah that makes sense and sleeping at one聽聽
[435]
midnight doesn't help but it turned out to be i'm聽 not the only one that who had a similar problem聽聽
[440]
remember the guy that I talk about who is the CPA聽 and trying to pass the cfa level three exam he聽聽
[445]
made an analogy that for example, you're learning聽 alphabet for CPA who contains four sections then聽聽
[453]
you can study and pass the exam and forget about聽 because each section is very exclusive to its聽聽
[459]
own part so for CPA you learn abcd and you pass聽 the exam and then you forget about and you move聽聽
[466]
on to efgh and then after that you move on to聽 ijkl but for cfa level one you have to memorize聽聽
[474]
all the a and the b and the c until that in聽 one exam during the four and a half hours聽聽
[481]
and for cfa level two not only you have to聽 remember the letters you have to use these letters聽聽
[486]
to form words and level three you need to be able聽 to form the words into sentences now you probably聽聽
[493]
say wow we get it it's a tough exam but why did聽 you set yourself up with it well good question聽聽
[499]
neither my bachelor degree nor my master degree is聽 finance-related but I'm always interested in maths聽聽
[505]
related subjects since high school so subjects聽 like geometry statistics accounting economics聽聽
[512]
were all my favorite subjects in uni things i'm聽 managing the personal finance and investment聽聽
[517]
accounts for my small family I always wanted聽 to learn finance or investment in particular聽聽
[522]
from a bigger picture more systematically I signed up with the CFA course which cost me $1500聽聽
[529]
ish um to do the exam but people say聽 then why don't you just go for the free聽聽
[535]
information platforms like youtube yes I like many聽 of you I watch youtube videos a lot way before i聽聽
[541]
started my own channel but most of the time i can聽 only get little pieces here and there no matter聽聽
[547]
how engaging how awesome the storytelling how聽 good the video editing is at the end of the video聽聽
[554]
do I get a little bit of knowledge or information聽 out of it yes and again are the contents fact聽聽
[559]
checked by the content creator not necessarily聽 right so i felt like that i needed to go for聽聽
[564]
a more conventional way by signing up a course聽 yes it did cost me quite a bit of money but it's聽聽
[570]
totally worth it and it served me this purpose聽 very well my study definitely doesn't stop here聽聽
[577]
my plan is to re-read the level 1 textbook because聽 i only use the notes to prepare for the exam聽聽
[582]
and i may go self-study for level 2 which goes聽 deeper into more calculations and complex theories聽聽
[589]
and I made myself a new year resolution聽 to read two finance or investment books聽聽
[594]
every month and these are the books that I'm聽 currently reading the <active investing> and <finance聽聽
[601]
for non-financial managers> talk about financial聽 reports although these book time might be shared聽聽
[607]
by parenting books like <the barefoot investor聽 for families> <decoding boys> or my personal book聽
[614]
that i'm reading but i am on track so feeling聽 good i'm fully aware that the youtube channels聽聽
[620]
in personal finance and investments are male聽 dominated but as a female content creator I'm 聽聽
[626]
happy to take the challenge so hopefully that聽 you can find my videos interesting to watch聽聽
[632]
and can get some knowledge out of each video after聽 you watch so if you like what you're watching now聽聽
[637]
so far please don't forget to give it a like聽 and now let's look at my CFA results I still聽聽
[642]
can't believe that i didn't pass the exam these聽 close the mind is almost overlapping the minimum聽聽
[648]
pass line which gives you an idea where you聽 stand in the global ranking and you can find your聽聽
[653]
accuracy on each topic you can see that most of聽 my subjects are 70 accurate and i can't believe my聽聽
[660]
quantitative method which i felt good about it but聽 i don't know why i did it so badly during the exam聽聽
[746]
I'll put the answers in the comments area聽 and let me know your accuracy rate well聽聽
[750]
i'm still a little bit upset that i didn't聽 pass the exam after six months of studying聽聽
[754]
would you like some sweets the kids' left-over easter eggs will cheer me up, thank you. well i hope聽聽
[760]
everybody enjoyed watching this video and everyone聽 have a lovely day and i'll see you next week bye
