You should ask for experience from those people only who have already done that thing

some guy is doing college review you won’t ask for GSOC guide from him

Earn in dollars and spend in rupees remote software jobs are quickly gaining momentum

as you can see on this website least minimum pay that people are offering

to global remote engineers is $50K now that’s a good 35 lakhs per year or 3 lakhs per month

and we are not talking about cost to company but the base hand salary

yes that is right this is the time that you stop chasing the likes of amazon,

Microsoft companies that pay 1 lakh per month in India

and it’s time for you to embrace these other opportunities available

and that’s what we will be talking about in this video, with me I have invited Kunal Kushwaha

to talk about how he got over 70 remote software developer offers and the compensation was 3 times.

I have not even graduated can make more by doing remote work so I tell this to everyone

not just me many people have posted tweets about this that People think Indian Engineers are overpaid

he posted a very good tweet about these things that what benefits you get like stock options

and hand in salary is much but to answer your questions I‘ll share my experience because

many beginners must be watching this so let me start with how I started first thing

is learning in public so maybe we can talk a little bit about that

how can you start learning share the good work you do in public some course you’re doing some

thing you’re learning you ca share about that take part in the student programs that I just

mentioned attend events share about the events like not just I am attending this event

but actually share about what is the event about I learnt about Kubernetes

I learnt about you know architecture stuff I learnt about state less vs statefull applications etc.

Where you have to share it on twitter and on LinkedIn where are the opportunity is the most

Ishan can you tell us is it more on LinkedIn or twitter You think it is twitter right

Twitter is the shizz bro You have so many opportunities on twitter (for software developers basically)

it’s very much It depends on what is it that you want to do If I want to reach out to the

companies for marketing aspect then I think LinkedIn works better

but of course if you’re into software development twitter can be better Its like why Twitter 45 00:03:34 ,001 --> 00:03:39,001 is better software development I have proof for that also because most of the remote startups

that I m taking about from London or Europe or Singapore, these developers they

are not even on LinkedIn let me give you one more proof go watch recording of big events Cupcon, open source summit etc etc

In every talk no developer will say or no one will say if you want to connect with me connect

with me on LinkedIn everybody has written it on their slides if you want to connect with me connect on twitter

these people are not even there on LinkedIn I’m not saying don’t do LinkedIn

you people who are watching it for beef that Kunal says don’t do LinkedIn do both the things

but twitter is more important opportunity can be found at both the places

I also have got many good opportunities from LinkedIn but nothing compared to what I have got

from twitter so learning in public as I was saying like you’re attending this event for

example you’re watching this video take a screenshot, so do that share it on socials

share your learning on socials that this video we attended anything you’re learning hackathon, if you win a hackathon if you take part in hackathon if you makee a project

you have to share all the things on socials, you attended a talk event tag that guy

you did a new project tag that project so when you start Write threads

this is very underrated skill you will get many opportunity from your public profile

its like if you want good jobs learn how to write good emails and this good also

why because then it generates awareness for you and for others also so share the good work you do in public.

Now a big problem that a lot of people face is what if your resume does not get selected

and is rejected because of 100s of other people applying for the same role or what if

you are just not aware about the opportunities in this software developer ecosystem

so lets say you didn’t do anything in the beginning you are just starting what I did was

I sent a lot of emails I atleast sent 1000 emails that I am looking for opportunity

I am looing for jobs and stuff I got a lot of opportunities from that but fortunately

by that time(2nd year) my profile was looking well that I was getting offers without applying

so this was my path, my profile is good now I do everything in public all the good things

so obviously people hire good people there’s nothing bad in that so I do get offers from that

so for other people just like my friends did You have to go on LinkedIn and twitter

and you have to search for people who work for the company in which you are interested in you

need to drat an email In that email you have to write Hey I am really interested in I am just starting out and have learnt these things and I am really interested in learning about

the roles in your company or what your company do, so write these emails

and be genuine interested not like you’re just spamming everyone Like the sessions I did from

my own sessions 5 people got internships in International community and startups

why because I was saying them from 1 year please learn in public please learn in public

share the work you do they are interning now. And there are more people who have got remote work like them too 90 00:08:06,001 --> 00:08:12,001 so please the good work that you do in public you have nothing to lose you’re only sharing good stuff about yourself in public

so you need to reach out to good people basically it is not about finding opportunity it is about creating opportunity

you attended some networking event you can reach out to them Hey I just attended your event

I am a fresher I am looking for internships in this domain this is my work in open source

if you’re doing open source then you won’t need to search for it.

I would recommend directly jump on to bigger projects for open source in which big people

are working for you will a lot of opportunities there since you will be working with them

they will look at your work and you will get a job, you can easily get a job in open source

if you are doing good work . Stop asking this question Kunal can you suggest me some beginner

friendly projects because even the most complex projects in the world like Kubernetes

they have beginner friendly issues if you need help in contributing you can reach out to me

join the slack Kubernetes channel it will be helpful and CNCF slack channel it has some great projects

even if you don’t know coding you can get involved you can make your profile and help people

you can also join CNCF student community please check out the link in the description

these are all free no is asking any money from you just like github campus expert

and MLH that conduct a ton of events, many hackathons for example MLH fellowship, Google Summer of code, LFX mentorship, Outreachy start taking parts in these things.

Set a goal for yourself that I have to achieve this, stop watching clickbaity videos

and focus hard and look towarrds your goals.

I still have the note where I wrote I wanted to achieve this in first year

this opportunity will come in second year and to achieve this I need to learn these things

and I need to talk to these people and then I have to apply I used to design my paths

like this so if you go to my LinkedIn there are opportunities after opportunities after opportunities

that is the reason because I structure everything I do a lot of work I studied a lot in the beginning

so do the work and you will get the benefits of it so if you need any guidance I m there

watch any of Ishan’s video and there are many people who share their experiences

and also ask for it only from those people who have actually done it like if somebody is doing College review why would you take GSOC guidance from him.

So there’s a Pi shaped learning know everything about something, something about everything

so how did I do all these things I did work and formed a habit of self study

so DSA, Web Development and a little bit of machine learning can use guidance

but you don’t need to watch me even on web development even if I make a course you don’t even need to look at it

if you can do self study you can just watch the online tutorial and the documentations

lots of tutorials on freecodecamp so giving such lakhs of money it’s not worth it

and some companies are doing even bigger scam that we will teach you for free and you will give 15% of your salary why shall I?

5 lakhs is nothing I can get you a 10lakh job for free why are you going to them

I can guarantee you on stream it is recorded so its like giving 15% salary of above 10L

what do you think it is hard to get a 10L job as a software developer in India

it is difficult for those who have not studied and those who have studied even tough questions are easy for them

that is about it that you first reach out to people, after that when you have built a good profile

got some opportunities then people will reach out to you and if you are contributing to open

source then definitely people will reach out to you but again I am mentioning

all these things are not bad I am not saying FAANGs like 10L or 13L is bad.

I am just saying it is overrated as compared to other startup jobs in India

like it is the end of the world it is not like that I have made it and I have made it way better so lease listen to my advice and you can do it as well

and just do good work in public and be kind and don’t get caught in clickbaits

before giving money to somebody consult me just don’t get caught in a scam

don’t do unpaid internships, don’t pay for any internship even if you Dm me on twitter

I will personally reply you that please don’t do this bro you need guidance directly reach

out to people who are working in those companies if you need guidance contribute to open

source reach out to the developers who are working on twitter in that company

take guidance from those people I never googled how to make it to google I directly texted

a person who is working for google Bro you are working in google I had some queries

there yu will get proof of fact, I am saying don’t even watch my videos 142 00:13:28,001 --> 00:13:36,001 directly reach out to me or ask questions in public or on discord but ask only the person who has actually done it

and if someone is saying very big words but he has no proofs for it everything I say

I have proof for everything so please focus on yourself work hard and opportunities

are very much in computer science so that was it Ishan to answer the question what is network in public

so open source projects networking you can get opportunities with abroad companies like this

and last level approach is companies will reach out to you where I am right now

so then your profile matters so if you have a good profile I have 13K followers on twitter

I do fancy things so because of that I get opportunities that this guys is doing everything

great in public so it’s like you should do it too your personal brand will develop

you will have some experience and then people will reach out to you in open source

they will refer you so that is the last stage after that your life is chill

like literally chill you get to work on things you like, team is great it’s not like

you have to work for these many hours and you haver to give the output

the team is very supportive and you get good money as compared to all these overrated things

great but overrated but don’t say Kunal is saying FAANG is trash or CP is trash and this is because of youtubers.

So, people often ask does CGPA matter?

To be quite frank it depends on where you are applying it a mammoth company like Microsoft

has cut-offs and I am talking about Off-campus I didn’t signed for on campus because

I have no hopes from my college and I already have offers in 10s of digits so why would I sign

for that CGPA matters for on campus if you’re doing masters it matters so remote work

I can tell it doesn’t the foreign startups they don’t ask for it they don’t even care

if your are going to college or not that is a short term answer if you’re getting opportunities from open Source 90% of opportunities that I have got they don’t ask for CGPA

when I was selected for Google it was 7 so it had no effect so its like

just because it doesn’t matter you won’t do work for CGPA try to maintain above 8

some companies do demand it so it’s better be safe than sorry you just don’t want backs

it’s not you leave everything to get 9 CGPA no, keep it above 8 and give rest of the time

to off-campus so that’s it CP rankings don’t matter pick any company it doesn’t matter

not even google if you’re doing good work if your profile is good not like you didn’t

development you didn’t CP then you say Kunal said rankings don’t matter.

CP rankings don’t matter when your profile is good and all the things I just mentioned

and if you’re not doing these things then your CP rankings matter because then companies

reach out directly so if you want to go in CP only so make sure your rankings are high.
