Biden considers shutting down pipeline amid surging gas prices: Report - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[0]
the binding administration is reportedly
[2]
considering shutting down another u.s
[4]
pipeline even as gas prices are surging
[7]
and as the white house admits americans
[9]
will have to pay more to heat their
[11]
homes heading into winter joining us now
[13]
congressman carl simon is house
[15]
transportation and infrastructure
[16]
committee member and congressman you're
[18]
the perfect person to talk to about this
[20]
because of that committee you sit on
[22]
we're talking about line five which
[24]
transports 540 000 barrels of crude oil
[28]
from canada to michigan every day and
[31]
apparently the biden administration is
[33]
considering having that pipeline go the
[36]
way of the keystone pipeline because
[38]
indigenous tribes don't want the
[40]
pipeline there but all of this
[42]
congressman is happening amid a drastic
[45]
surge in gas prices
[49]
yeah it's insanity uh look uh we cut the
[52]
keystone pipeline now we're thinking of
[53]
cutting another pipeline
[55]
uh with uh you know over a half you know
[59]
500 and over 500 000 barrels a day of
[62]
crude oil coming to the united states
[64]
and then
[65]
and then he goes overseas and then he
[66]
begs opec to cr to produce more oil it
[69]
makes absolutely no sense just like
[71]
everything this president's done and
[73]
every sector makes no sense whatsoever
[76]
and so who's going to pay for it it's
[78]
going to be the the poor in the middle
[80]
class their gas prices are all of our
[82]
gas prices are going to go up and when
[83]
all of our gas prices go up or when all
[85]
of our energy prices go up everything
[87]
goes up that means inflation goes up and
[89]
so again i this is this is incredible
[92]
it's just one thing after another thing
[94]
after another thing and then the
[96]
president wonders why you know people
[98]
don't like him too much and then when
[100]
you talk about you know the gas prices
[102]
going up in inflation that brings us to
[105]
this it's the infrastructure bill that
[107]
was passed on friday
[110]
so they just passed an infrastructure
[111]
bill but yet they haven't really
[112]
clarified exactly how this as well as
[114]
the the bbb bill is going to be paid for
[117]
so you've got all of this money coming
[119]
out of taxpayer pockets um
[122]
my question for you is the 13
[125]
republicans who voted in support of that
[127]
infrastructure bill which infrastructure
[128]
is great if it's infrastructure but
[130]
there is obviously more in that there's
[131]
not infrastructure do you think that
[133]
these republicans who voted in support
[135]
of that bill
[137]
are going to feel the price of that the
[139]
ones who are at least going to be up for
[140]
re-election are going to feel that at
[142]
the polls
[144]
well yeah i'm not going to comment on on
[146]
my fellow republicans i'm going to
[147]
comment on what the democrats going to
[148]
try to do they're going to try to push
[150]
another another 1.8 but actually more
[153]
like 4 trillion bill uh 80 000 new irs
[157]
agents and i'm confident i'm very
[158]
confident that no republicans republican
[161]
is going to be voting for that so let's
[162]
see if
[163]
there are some democrats that vote that
[164]
down
[166]
actually my hope is only in the senate i
[168]
think that our hope lies with senator
[170]
manchin i do believe the democrats will
[172]
rally and pass and ram that uh that bill
[175]
through again four trillion according to
[177]
wharton uh 80 percent rise in taxes for
[181]
all americans according to the warden
[182]
school again uh and there's so many
[185]
things in that bill which are which are
[187]
outrageous and again not paid for all of
[190]
this debt accumulating look this
[192]
infrastructure bill we just passed has
[194]
over 400 billion dollars that nobody
[196]
knows how it's going to get paid for all
[198]
of that's going to fall on us it's going
[200]
to fall on our children it's going to
[201]
fall on our grandchildren to pay off and
[203]
then all the way they fundamentally want
[205]
to change america uh the the
[208]
infrastructure bill
[209]
okay but the this new bill that they
[211]
want that's the one really we need to
[213]
stop and uh and hopefully none of my
[216]
republican colleagues will vote for that
[217]
uh outrageous bill yeah congressman um
[220]
on the social spending package front i
[222]
guess a lot is riding on the cbo score
[224]
because if the cbo comes out and says
[226]
that it's going to create this massive
[227]
deficit you're going to have moderate um
[230]
moderate democrats in the house and of
[232]
course in the senate saying we can't do
[234]
this so how likely is this thing really
[236]
going to pass
[238]
well look i think that the moderates in
[240]
the house uh they talk a great game
[242]
let's see if they uh they put up or shut
[244]
up uh the cbo score is not going to be
[247]
what the came out of the white house so
[249]
there's going to there's going to be a
[250]
huge deficit here with this cbo score
[253]
the price tag is going to be a heck of a
[255]
lot higher than uh what's been
[256]
advertised uh you know but i wouldn't
[258]
hold my breath uh thinking that these
[260]
moderate democrats are going to be
[262]
voting against the bill i could be
[264]
proven wrong i hope i'm proven wrong but
[266]
i think really the the the hope lies in
[268]
the senate right now okay and really
[270]
quickly we've got about 20 seconds or so
[272]
senator majority leader uh chuck schumer
[274]
he was seen breaking puerto rico's
[276]
strict mask rules while he was
[277]
celebrating the passage of that
[279]
infrastructure bill in 15 seconds or so
[281]
do you think this is why we're seeing
[283]
such a pushback on these mass mandates
[285]
around the country because of our our
[286]
leadership yeah that yeah total
[288]
hypocrisy by by the democrats you know
[291]
there california you see it all over the
[293]
place and it's really not not called for
[295]
it's not necessary i think you know they
[297]
need to take a page out of governor ron
[299]
desantis here in florida who's doing a
[301]
fantastic job here in florida uh you
[304]
know the land that's the state of the
[305]
free and i'm glad i live there
[307]
congressman carlos simmond is on a
[308]
variety of topics for us this morning
[310]
thank you for tackling them all
[313]
oh thank you you bet
