hey it's Anthony in Reno and this is a
[1]
new camera rig it is the Sony rx100 Mark
[6]
5 it's a small camera and I've got it on
[9]
a nice little rig that I can carry with
[10]
me so I can get out of this just Talking
[13]
Heads format carry you with me on the
[15]
road I've got a nice microphone and I've
[18]
also got a thing called a zoom here
[20]
that's recording this so that I'll get a
[22]
good recording so up good audio good
[24]
video but the downfall on this camera is
[27]
that 4k burns this camera up really fast
[30]
which means I've got about five minutes
[31]
to talk what I want to talk about in
[34]
just a couple minutes is the
[35]
disintermediation of salespeople and the
[38]
coming onslaught of AI and I want to put
[40]
this in context for you because it's not
[42]
what you're hearing and what I want to
[44]
explain to you is that we have an
[45]
hourglass economy we got a big top
[48]
skinny middle large bottom and what's
[50]
happening is the Internet is
[52]
disintermediating anything that it can
[54]
which means if your borders and Barnes
[57]
and Noble Amazon can get a book without
[59]
the friction of having to drive to a
[60]
book store going and finding the book
[63]
walking up to the cashier buying the
[64]
book getting back in your car and
[66]
driving home
[67]
amazon.com with a Kindle will let you
[69]
for $9.99 have the book right now
[71]
wherever you are you don't have to do
[73]
anything or they'll ship it to you
[74]
overnight if you're a Prime member you
[76]
know this and if you have the Prime now
[78]
app you may have figured out that you
[80]
can have things delivered to you in a
[81]
major city within a couple hours and
[83]
there disintermediating retailers and
[86]
you're looking at the collapse of retail
[88]
right now I'm getting ready for about a
[90]
year from now when we have the
[91]
Renaissance of retail because retail is
[94]
not sitting by not dealing with the
[95]
digital age that we live in they're
[97]
adapting to this and they're going to
[99]
have bricks and clicks and people are
[100]
figuring it out so don't buy all the
[103]
hype and pay attention and just pay
[104]
close attention to how people figure
[106]
this out but what I want to tell you is
[108]
that if you're a salesperson and the
[110]
only value that you create is the same
[112]
value that the web creates by talking
[115]
about features and benefits about trying
[117]
to find a lower price and about trying
[120]
to remove friction from the buying
[122]
process then you are going to have
[124]
artificial intelligence and
[125]
disintermediation as you get shoved down
[128]
into the bottom part of that hourglass
[129]
if on the other hand you move into the
[132]
top part where there's more money and
[134]
where people want high trust high value
[137]
high caring where they want someone with
[139]
deep insight to act as counsel because
[142]
you're not going to make a two million
[143]
dollar or a five million dollar purchase
[145]
over the internet when you don't have
[148]
enough information and enough certainty
[150]
that you're going to be able to get what
[152]
you want
[153]
and where relationships are important
[154]
and you're a business partner and where
[156]
what you do is so tightly integrated
[159]
with your client that they have to know
[161]
like and trust you and you also have to
[163]
have the right advice and the next
[165]
initiative that's a different
[167]
salesperson and there's already a lack
[169]
of people at that top of that hourglass
[173]
right now there's already not enough
[174]
salespeople who have the business acumen
[177]
who have the ability to manage change
[179]
who have the ability to be strategic in
[182]
to act as counsel so what you're hearing
[184]
right now is that all of salespeople are
[187]
going to disappear into AI and that
[189]
there's going to be the gray goo of the
[191]
matrix that just totally obliviate all
[193]
of sales people not true from time
[197]
immemorial decision makers and leaders
[200]
have counted on counsel and they will
[202]
have counsel that interprets even the
[204]
information they get from computers and
[206]
from artificial intelligence the
[208]
question is though are you being
[210]
disintermediated because you don't
[212]
create enough value for it to be
[215]
otherwise if you're a salesperson that
[217]
carries a catalog and opens a catalog in
[219]
front of your potential buyer the
[221]
internet can do that better and faster
[223]
with less friction than you can and
[225]
they're probably easier to deal with but
[227]
on the other hand if your high business
[230]
acumen a high situational knowledge deep
[233]
insight business person you're going to
[235]
have a much easier time moving into the
[237]
top because from that area you're going
[240]
to be able to act as a trusted adviser
[242]
in as counsel so you need to decide now
[245]
where you want to play and what's going
[247]
to happen to you when the hourglass gets
[248]
even more narrow here in the middle as
[250]
you're going to get pulled one way or
[252]
the other I'm Anthony an arena look for
[254]
new vlog format soon we're working on it
