This may look like actress Gal Gadot in this clip, but it's not.
[4]
It's just really good computer programming, making it look like she's starring in weird
[8]
stepsister porn.

We all know AI is getting better all the time, but now it's good enough to make it look like
[20]
you shot porn when you definitely did not.
[24]
VICE's Motherboard interviewed a guy on Reddit with the username deepfakes, who uses open-source
[30]
software to put the faces of celebrities on already-existing porn clips.
[34]
Do I need to get to know this guy before just assuming he's a total douche bag?
[38]
The software can use the thousands of freely available photos on Google to mimic a person's
[44]
expression.
[45]
And at first glance, it's hard to tell that it's not real.
[49]
That's right.
[50]
It's not a huge, sophisticated company with 1,000s of computers doing this work.
[53]
It's one guy with software that anyone can access.
[56]
And by "one guy," I mean - probably one creepy guy who's a douche bag, but moving on.
[61]
Because, I get you can imagine this - the possibilities of this, but actually implementing
[64]
it, and the repercussions of this type of thing... it's just... it's bad.
[69]
In the last 2 months, deepfakes has also posted fake porn clips of Scarlett Johansson, Aubrey
[75]
Plaza, Maisie Williams, and Emma Watson.
[78]
Fake celebrity nudes are nothing new, but having a learning computer mimic your facial
[82]
expressions on a porn?
[84]
That's new, and even more disturbing.
[87]
The technology isn't perfect yet.
[89]
Occasionally a box appears around the performer's face and the sound syncing isn't always great.
[93]
But experts say we're only a few months away from fake porn looking indistinguishable from
[98]
the real thing.
[100]
And that should freak all of us out!
[101]
And I wonder though if that freaks out women more than men, because women just have a different
[106]
relationship with porn overall.
[109]
Porn actress, Grace Evangeline, is not impressed with deepfakes’ work.
[112]
She told Motherboard: “One important thing that always needs to happen is consent.
[117]
Consent in private life as well as consent on film.
[120]
Creating fake sex scenes of celebrities takes away their consent.
[123]
It’s wrong.”
[124]
Could not agree more!
[125]
That's why this is a huge issue.
[127]
And, I'm sure the porn industry is pretty scared of just AI also taking over their jobs.
[131]
But, consent is the bigger issue here.
[133]
And retired porn actress Alia Janine told them: “It’s really disturbing.
[136]
It kind of shows how some men basically only see women as objects that they can manipulate
[141]
and be forced to do anything they want...
[143]
It just shows a complete lack of respect for the porn performers in the movie, and also
[148]
the female actresses.”
[149]
The technology itself is also problematic.
[152]
Most of us, including me, have hundreds of photos of ourselves online.
[156]
It's realistic to assume the software could easily be used for revenge porn.
[161]
But our gentlemen here, deepfakes, doesn't see that being an issue.
[164]
He said: “Every technology can be used with bad motivations, and it's impossible to stop
[169]
that.
[170]
The main difference is how easy [it is] to do that by everyone.
[172]
I don't think it's a bad thing for more average people [to] engage in machine learning research.”
[177]
Wow.
[178]
You're such an innovator.
[179]
You're like the Elon Musk of porn.
[181]
And not everyone online is concerned about the ethical implications, either.
[185]
Big Junior Flip said: "They putting AI heads on porn now I can’t wait for Nicki Minaj.”
[189]
Dude.
[190]
Nicki Minaj is already doing porn.
[191]
Haven't you seen Anaconda?
[198]
Frank Simpson says: "[What] episode of Black Mirror is this?"
[201]
And Nicolas Secreto says: "Oh man the swirling endless levels of both entertainment and absolute
[206]
fucking evil a technology like this has is hard to fully comprehend.
[211]
But there's no stopping technology from progressing."
[213]
Ana Valens, who wrote about the AI porn story for The Daily Dot, tweeted: "This is where
[218]
revenge porn's future lies.
[220]
It's already illegal to use copyrighted content without permission, so there's a legal basis
[224]
to fight it.
[225]
But this is the future: harassment through machine learning."
[227]
Listen.
[228]
I don't think you can stop technology from advancing and being used for different things,
[233]
but do I think this is wrong?
[235]
Yes.
[236]
Consent is consent, and there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
[239]
So what do you think?
[240]
Is fake AI porn wrong?
