[49]
I will provide answers to both in this video
[53]
I am Vivek Bajaj and I am in the market for some time now and I understand what's happening in the market
[60]
people who enter the the stock market want to increase their capital by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x
[69]
but it's important to know that if a problem occurs then who will be responsible for it?
[79]
who is the regulator and who will regulate this? We all know SEBI regulator of Indian securities market
[92]
and have created a lot of laws. Any intermediate or agency working on behalf of you must have a license
[106]
Or if you want to start working then you need to take a license before starting
[113]
I had recorded video where I explained how you can make a career in the stock market
[124]
this is just an extension video. In the previous video I talked about research analyst
[129]
in this video I will discuss how can you manage others money. Let's discuss this
[134]
there are two things. Firstly, managing others money without taking money from them
[141]
secondly, managing others money by taking the money. These are two separate things
[147]
in the first one, the money stays with the client and I am an investment manager who is advising the client
[158]
for that we need an investment advisory license. I am trading for the client and
[164]
at the end of the day I am informing the client and transferring the trade to the client
[172]
this is known as Portfolio Management Services. I get client's money but at the end of the day I allocat it to the client
[182]
I traded these many shares on your behalf. Thirdly, client gives me money and I manage it
[193]
An NAV is calculated, this is what has happened with your money and on a periodical basis
[200]
mostly on a monthly basis inform the client that this is the situation of your money
[206]
it's like a mutual fund but it's for high-end customer as the capital requirement is higher
[215]
in the first case, there is no Capital requirement or restriction. You can take one rupees from a client and manager it or advice
[224]
you will not take money from the client. In the second case of PMS that is Portfolio Management Services
[231]
you need to take a minimum of 50000 rupees per client or else you cannot start the work
[236]
Third there is a if that is Alternate Investment Fund, need to take a minimum of 1 crore rupees from the client
[245]
in both cases you get the money from the client and you need to inform the client as per the performance
[254]
but in the first category of investment advisory, you recommend client and build portfolio for them
[266]
but you do not make transactions for them. A research analysis shares the idea
[275]
But an investment advisor needs to build a Portfolio as per the client's requirement
[282]
and track the portfolio. Investment advisory is more engaging. You get more involved with the client
[292]
research analyst is not get more involved with the client, the only focus on Idea generation
[297]
Since investment advisory is more engaging you can do profit sharing with the client, and ask for fees as per the client size
[307]
but since you do not get engaged on client-specific as a research analyst. Your role is only to generate ideas
[314]
then you can only charge a fixed fees either monthly quarterly or yearly.
[320]
You will get all the details here of all the investment Advisors if you want to become an investment advisor then what's the process
[330]
let's go to SEBI's website. In the home page you will see the section called intermediaries where you will get the recognised intermediaries
[339]
you can search for investment advisor. There are 1322 investment advisers in India
[352]
they have the license to advise the clients on their Investments. You'll get the names when you click on it
[360]
if someone claims are there investment Advisors, then please
[366]
search the name in this website and check whether they actually have the license or not
[374]
if you want to become an investment advisor then just google SEBI investment advisers regulations
[383]
click on it you will get a PDF provided by SEBI where they have penned down all the requirements of becoming an investment advisor
[392]
this is a small document. You can take help of a lawyer. If you fulfill all the requirements then you can become an investment advisor
[406]
The major clause is that you need to have a certain level of qualification. A postgraduate certification is preferred
[418]
to have decent background and decent knowledge before becoming an investment advisor
[424]
additionally SEBI also considers the NISM exam as a very important exam.
[429]
You need to pass it to be recognised knowledgeable person. Apart from this, an investment advisor needs to pay a small fee
[440]
a corporate investment advisor needs to pay around 5 Lakh rupees and fees for individual investment Advisors is around 25000
[450]
download this document and if you want to become an investment advisor
[456]
then prepare the document set as per this document and apply to SEBI with the complete set
[463]
you will get the investment advisory license within few days or months
[469]
You will get in ID for investment advisor, you need to communicate using that ID
[477]
if you have given your money to someone then it's very important for you
[484]
to understand whether that individual or form is authorised or not
[490]
the best way to check the authorisation is to go to SEBI’s website and check the intermediaries list
[497]
you will get all the names who have been authorised by SEBI.
[503]
Please don't give money or your account to someone who is not authorised by SEBI
[514]
SEBI is very strong authority with a strong audit process.
[519]
You might lose your money if you do not go to authorised people. Please beware
[528]
if you want to become an advisor then there is a lot of scope. You can do equity advice
[534]
but you can also advise on currency, commodity, mutual funds, if you want to become an entrepreneur
[544]
this was a small initiative to tell you about the different occupations.
[549]
Investment advisory is also very interesting occupation where you do not execute but advise the client
[556]
