full QuickBooks Online course and other
[20]
helpful resources let's get started if
[23]
you previously entered bills into
[25]
QuickBooks in the next step is to pay
[27]
them before they become due paying bills
[30]
in QuickBooks will automatically mark
[31]
the bill as paid and it will no longer
[33]
be outstanding this will also update the
[36]
accounts payable balance to reflect the
[38]
bill payment accounts payable is the
[40]
amount that you owe to vendors for the
[43]
purposes of this video we will use a
[45]
fictitious company called Paul's
[46]
plumbing as you view this video think
[49]
about how the information might differ
[50]
for your business to begin after you've
[53]
logged into your QuickBooks Online
[54]
account from the home page go ahead and
[56]
click the plus sign and select pay bills
[59]
right below the vendors column the pay
[62]
bills window will display we will walk
[64]
through each field as we pay a couple of
[66]
bills for Paul's plumbing payment
[69]
account select from the drop-down the
[71]
bank account that you will make these
[73]
payments from the payment date will
[76]
typically be your check date the
[80]
starting cheque number that you want to
[81]
enter here if you are going to print the
[84]
check immediately then go ahead and
[86]
enter the starting cheque number that
[87]
you will load into the printer if this
[89]
is your first time printing checks click
[91]
here for step-by-step instructions on
[93]
where to buy and how to print checks and
[95]
quickbooks online if you are going to
[98]
print checks later go ahead and click
[100]
the print later box also notice to the
[104]
right that quickbooks will provide you
[106]
with notifications of the number of
[109]
outstanding bills that you have to pay
[111]
so we've got to open bills here that
[114]
happen to be for the same vendor bill
[118]
selection this first column allows you
[120]
to put a check mark next to the bills
[122]
that you would like to pay this next
[126]
column is payee this is a payee for the
[128]
check
[129]
typically this will be your vendors name
[131]
but if for some reason the payee differs
[133]
your vendors business name then you can
[135]
update the vendor profile with this
[137]
information and the setting up vendors
[139]
lesson we walk through step by step how
[142]
to set up your vendors and QuickBooks
[143]
click here to watch this video tutorial
[145]
the reference number is the vendors
[148]
invoice number that you entered this is
[151]
a due date of the bill in this next
[152]
column notice that QuickBooks will also
[155]
indicate with an exclamation point if
[157]
the bill is passed due the next column
[159]
is the open balance that is due and in
[163]
the column after that credit applied if
[165]
you have entered any credits that you
[167]
receive from your supplier they will
[169]
show up here to reduce the amount that
[170]
you owe you've got a couple of ways to
[173]
indicate how much you want to pay for
[175]
each bill so the first way is you can
[178]
actually put a checkmark in that first
[180]
column and QuickBooks will automatically
[183]
populate the payment field with the
[185]
total amount due for that invoice the
[188]
other way that you can do it is if you
[191]
want to make a partial payment for an
[192]
invoice and not pay it in its entirety
[194]
you can simply type the amount that
[196]
you'd like to pay in the payment field
[198]
and once you do that and press the tab
[202]
key QuickBooks will automatically put a
[204]
checkmark next to that invoice as well
[206]
so we're going to pay half of the open
[209]
balance due for the second end voice
[211]
here and now we've got our total amount
[214]
that we're going to pay to faucets are
[216]
us and we will pay both of these
[218]
invoices using one check so once you
[222]
have completed this field we can go
[226]
ahead and save and close and we want to
[228]
go to the check register to locate the
[230]
payment that we just created so from the
[233]
left-hand menu bar you want to click on
[234]
transactions and then banking on the
[240]
right you want to click the link that
[242]
says go to check register to confirm
[249]
that payment was correctly applied we
[251]
want to go ahead and review the bills
[254]
that we just paid so this first one
[256]
we'll take a look at it this was a bill
[259]
that had a total amount due of $500 we
[262]
made a partial payment that's indicated
[264]
here and so now we have a balance due
[267]
250 dollars on this particular bill and
[270]
then the second bill that we pay we paid
[272]
in full bill number nine eight seven six
[275]
five so we'll click on that and that one
[278]
shows paid in full so we know our
[282]
payments were applied correctly to gain
[285]
a better understanding of how entering
[286]
bills will impact your financial
[288]
statements and what's happening behind
