Apple Credit Card Benefits in 2021: Watch BEFORE You Apply! - YouTube
Channel: HyperProfit
[0]
- Welcome to HyperProfit.
[0]
I'm Andru Edwards.
[1]
And while none of this
is financial advice,
[3]
today I want to talk about the benefits
[6]
and unique features of the
Apple Card, Apple's credit card.
[10]
I did a video over on my tech channel
[12]
when the card first launched
[13]
and had a bunch of
questions in the comments.
[15]
And it's been just over a year
[17]
since the Apple Card launched.
[19]
And there have been some
important changes along the way.
[22]
Now before we get into it,
[23]
I know a lot of people
were wondering where I was
[27]
since it's been a few weeks
[28]
since my last video here on HyperProfit.
[31]
And the answer is
[32]
that I was selling one
of my investment homes.
[35]
We owned three properties
[37]
and I have only ever been
involved with buying property.
[40]
So selling a home was
definitely a unique experience.
[44]
It was a rental but the real estate market
[47]
here in the Seattle area has
been absolutely parabolic
[50]
over the past couple of months.
[52]
So it made sense.
[53]
As for numbers, I bought the
home back in 2008 for $400,000.
[59]
I put it on the market for $700,000.
[62]
And after a back and forth bidding war,
[64]
I was able to sell it for $875,000,
[67]
which is just about a 55% gain.
[71]
Now if you're curious and
want a walkthrough of the home
[74]
to get a glimpse of my
strategy for selling it,
[77]
I'll link the video
walkthrough that I made
[80]
down in the description below.
[82]
Now this channel is all about
making our money work for us
[85]
and real estate is just another area
[88]
where you can do just that.
[90]
Now onto the Apple Card,
[91]
there was a lot of hype around
this card when it launched,
[95]
mostly because I think a lot
of people saw the Apple Card
[97]
as a must have Apple product,
[100]
like an iPhone or a pair of AirPods.
[102]
The truth is while there
are some nice benefits
[105]
and conveniences with the Apple Card,
[108]
if you're purely looking
for a rewards card,
[110]
there are others you should
consider before this one.
[113]
That said, lets talk about the
benefits of the Apple Card,
[116]
starting with the fact that
there are absolutely no fees.
[122]
That's right.
[123]
The Apple Card doesn't
charge any fees at all.
[126]
So there's no application fee,
[128]
no annual fees, no
foreign transaction fees.
[132]
There aren't even any over
the limit fees or late fees.
[135]
The only extra you should expect
to pay aside from the cost
[139]
of the things you purchase
is the interest generated.
[143]
And that's only if you don't
pay your balance in full.
[147]
Other than that, no fees at all.
[149]
Next, let's talk about
unlimited daily cash back.
[153]
When you make purchases
with the Apple Card,
[155]
Apple pays you a certain
percentage in cash back
[157]
and you get that paid
to you every single day,
[160]
hence the term daily cash.
[162]
You don't have to wait until
the end of a billing cycle
[165]
to receive it or to use it.
[167]
Instead each day it appears
[169]
in your Apple cash digital wallet.
[171]
You get three tiers of
Apple daily cash back.
[173]
There's 3%, 2% and 1%.
[176]
So let's go through each.
[178]
3% is the most rare benefit
since it only applies
[182]
to a handful of merchants.
[184]
If you use your Apple Card
with any of the following,
[187]
you will get 3% cash back on your total.
[189]
The merchants are going to be Apple,
[191]
Nike, Uber, and Uber Eats,
T-Mobile, Panera bread,
[195]
Walgreens, Duane Reed, Exxon, and Mobil.
[199]
McDonald's used to be on this list,
[201]
but there's no longer any mention of them
[203]
on the Apple Card website.
[205]
Next, 2% cash back is probably
[207]
what you'll end up seeing the most.
[210]
To get 2% daily cash,
[212]
all you need to do is pay for things
[214]
using your digital Apple
Card on your iPhone,
[218]
iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac.
[221]
So that means you're
using contactless payments
[224]
or Apple Pay and Safari
when shopping online.
[227]
And last, there is the 1% cash back.
[230]
And that happens anytime
you use your physical
[232]
Apple Card to pay for something
either in store or online.
[237]
So again, if you use your digital
card you get 2% cash back,
[240]
physical card, only 1% cash back.
[243]
Next, let's talk about
[244]
one of the newest Apple card
features, Apple Card family.
[248]
This is a recent feature
that was just released
[250]
as part of iOS 14.6.
[253]
Apple Card family lets you add a partner
[255]
to your Apple Card account.
[258]
Previously, all Apple Card accounts
[260]
were individual accounts only.
[262]
If both partners already
have an Apple Card,
[265]
then their credit lines will be merged.
[266]
And from then on both builds credit
[269]
as equals on the account.
[271]
You can also add up to four
additional family member
[274]
participants to your Apple Card account.
[277]
Participants 18 or older will
build their own credit history
[280]
and kids 13 or older can
spend within limits set by the
[283]
co-owners and will earn daily
cash on their own purchases.
[287]
Owners can also get notifications
[289]
whenever a participant
uses their Apple Card.
[291]
Okay, a minute ago I mentioned
using the physical card,
[295]
so let's talk about
that for just a moment.
[296]
This is the titanium Apple card.
[300]
Now I personally like the convenience
[302]
of having all my cards accessible
[304]
from my iPhone and Apple Watch.
[306]
But I also know there are
a lot of people out there
[309]
who love having a premium physical card.
[312]
The Apple Card is the only
credit card made out of titanium.
[316]
Aside from your name,
there's no card number
[318]
or any other personal
information on the card itself.
[321]
It's just a minimal white
and silver credit card.
[324]
Now the downside about
the physical card though,
[327]
as I mentioned a minute ago,
[328]
is that it only generates
1% daily cash back
[332]
on your purchases.
[333]
So if you have your Apple Card
[335]
and your iPhone digital wallet,
[336]
and the merchant accepts digital payments,
[339]
you'll always generate
twice as much daily cash
[342]
using the digital version
rather than the physical card.
[345]
So to me, the physical card
is only used as a last resort.
[350]
Now speaking of that minimal card,
[352]
the reason it's so plain is
because of Apple's approach
[355]
to privacy and security.
[357]
Apple says the titanium
Apple Card is more secure
[361]
than any other credit card
because it has no card numbers,
[365]
no CVV security code, no expiration date,
[368]
and no signature on it.
[369]
Instead your card number is
located in your Wallet app.
[373]
If you lose the card, you can
disable it from your phone
[375]
and request a new one.
[376]
No one will know your card number,
[378]
and Apple Card replacements
are free of charge.
[381]
When you pay with the Apple Card,
[383]
merchants don't get
your card number either.
[386]
Instead they get a
unique transaction code.
[389]
So they can't tie your
purchases to your account
[391]
or track and steal your info.
[394]
And your transactions
themselves remain private
[396]
to you alone.
[397]
Your transaction history
and spending habits
[400]
aren't even shared with Apple,
[402]
and your data is never shared
or sold to third parties.
[406]
Okay, this last benefit on the list
[408]
goes out to the Apple fans out there.
[410]
And it only makes sense being
that it's the Apple Card,
[413]
that there would be a benefit
for buying devices from Apple.
[417]
That benefit is Apple
Card monthly installments.
[420]
Now the way this works is simple.
[422]
When you buy an Apple product from Apple
[424]
using your Apple Card,
things like an iPhone, iPad,
[428]
Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, et cetera.,
[431]
you can choose to pay for it
over 24 months interest free.
[436]
So it costs you nothing extra
[438]
and you still get the 3% daily
cash back on that purchase.
[442]
And even cooler,
[444]
you get the entire daily
cash amount right away,
[447]
even though you're paying off the purchase
[449]
over the course of two years.
[451]
So there you have it.
[452]
I hope that answers the questions
[454]
I've been seeing from you guys.
[455]
What are the benefits that
the Apple Card offers?
[459]
Oh, one more thing that's changed
[460]
since the Apple Card was released,
[462]
an iPhone used to be required
to apply for the Apple Card
[465]
because you applied in the
Wallet app on the iPhone.
[469]
Now you can apply on any device.
[471]
Any questions or comments
[473]
about the Apple Card that you have,
[474]
drop them down in the comments below
[475]
and I will meet you there
for further discussion.
[478]
Thanks for watching as always guys.
