Are you thinking about retiring in Savannah Georgia? Well I'm going to give
[3]
you my top seven reasons why you should definitely consider Savannah.
[13]
Hi there welcome to my channel. My name is Karin Carr and I'm a Realtor with Keller Williams
[19]
Coastal Area Partners here in Savannah, GA.
[22]
if you are thinking about retiring to Savannah you really should click the
[26]
subscribe button right down here because I talk about all things Savannah related
[30]
and I know you don't want to miss anything. If you are considering retiring to
[34]
Georgia here are my top seven reasons why Savannah should definitely be on the
[39]
list of places to consider. Number one - we have an International Airport. Now this
[45]
may not seem like that big of a deal but trust me, when you want to go to your
[49]
cousin's wedding or you want to go visit your children or your grandchildren you
[53]
do not want to be driving all the way to Atlanta to catch a flight. Atlanta is a
[58]
good four hour drive from here so the fact that we have the Savannah Hilton
[62]
Head International Airport right outside of Savannah
[66]
(actually it's in Pooler, where my office is) it is wonderful to have. Number two - we have
[72]
the city and the beach. You can go to downtown Savannah and we have tons of
[77]
things to do. There is nightlife, there are tours, there is shopping, there is
[81]
dining out, there's all the things you would expect to find in a city. But yet
[85]
20 minutes away on Tybee Island we have the beach. Tybee Island is probably only
[90]
about 10 miles off the coast of Savannah so it's a very short drive, but you're
[95]
right there at the beach. You can leave all your stuff on the sand go grab some
[100]
lunch, you can go to the the wildlife museum, you can go into the t-shirt shops
[106]
and buy a boogie board... you know, it's a typical beach community. And then be
[110]
right back downtown half an hour later when you're done at the end of the day.
[113]
Number three - and one of my personal favorites is eating out. There are so
[119]
many killer restaurants in Savannah I could probably eat out for dinner every
[124]
single night for an entire year and never hit the same restaurant twice.
[128]
Paula Deen - we all know Paula Deen is a Savannah native - has several
[132]
restaurants here. There are tons of seafood restaurants as I'm sure you can
[136]
imagine. I mean we've got the Georgia white shrimp and oysters and crabs that
[141]
are all native to this area. So if you like seafood you're definitely
[145]
gonna get hooked up with seafood if you live in the Savannah area. But then there are
[148]
other places as well - typical steak places, American Southern food,
[153]
lots of new ethnic restaurants are opening up on a regular basis in Savannah.
[159]
Number four - road trips. So when you retire somewhere now you've got
[165]
lots of free time and maybe you don't want to just sit in your house all day.
[168]
You want to go explore places. Savannah is wonderful because there are plenty of
[173]
other cities that are just a few hours drive away. Orlando takes about 4 to 5
[178]
hours to get to, Jacksonville Florida only two hours away.
[181]
Charleston two hours away. You can go to Myrtle Beach, you can go all types of
[187]
different places and it's not a really far drive. Like I said before Atlanta is
[191]
about four to five hours depending on traffic and you can go see other places
[196]
without having to fly there. Number five - and this could be a very big one for you -
[201]
is hospitals. We've got lots of major hospitals in Savannah. There is st.
[207]
Joseph's Candler, Memorial, St. Joe's, the VA Medical Center, plus lots of smaller
[215]
individual hospitals, imaging centers, the whole nine yards. So there is no shortage
[221]
of health care in the Savannah area and let's face it - as we get older we need
[226]
access to good health care. Number six is the cost of living. I think that Savannah
[232]
is a very affordable place to live compared to other major cities. Now
[237]
Savannah's not a big city, it's a small city. The population of Savannah itself
[241]
is about a hundred thousand and the whole tri-county area together is maybe three
[245]
hundred thousand. So it's not a huge city. It's nothing compared to Atlanta but to
[251]
me that's a benefit because we get the airport, we get the nightlife, we get the
[256]
dining, we get the stuff to do without the traffic of living in a major city,
[261]
without the expense of living in a major city. Our median home price is less than
[266]
$250,000 for the entire area and that means it's an
[271]
affordable place to retire. Especially if you're coming from up north. I have many
[274]
many clients who are moving here from New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana... they're
[280]
able to sell their house and buy a property here with the cash proceeds
[284]
from the sale of their house up north simply because of the difference in the
[288]
property prices. And number seven of my reasons why you should be retiring to
[294]
Savannah Georgia is - your family you will want to come visit you! Yes, that is right.
[299]
Savannah is a huge tourist destination and people love to come here on
[304]
vacation because of all of the things that I just mentioned. The beach, the
[308]
nightlife, the things to do, the dining out, all the things. So if you live in a
[314]
wonderful tropical destination your kids and grandkids are probably gonna want to
[320]
come visit more frequently. Now depending on your family hopefully that's a bonus
[324]
and not a drawback! Just sayin'... So I hope I have convinced you why
[328]
Savannah is a pretty awesome place to live. If you need more information about
[332]
the various areas of Savannah I have a free relocation guide for you. Just

click the link below, you can go to my website and download that free
[341]

[353]
area, so you can decide whether or not this is a place where you'd like to
[357]
retire. Don't just take my word for it - my mom and dad retired here, which is how
[361]
I ended up here in the first place!
