[3]
Antigen Rapid Test.
[5]
Let's learn how you can complete the test
[6]
all by yourself
[7]
and read your results
[9]
in just a few minutes.
[10]
For starters,
[11]
thoroughly wash your
hands with soap and water.
[13]
A good scrub down
[14]
and some disinfectant is perfect.
[16]
We also need a clean,
[17]
flat testing area.
[18]
So, take a moment to disinfect
[20]
some counter or tabletop space.
[22]
Once it's dry,
[23]
lay out the following items from your kit,
[25]
but don't remove them
[26]
from their individual packaging just yet.
[29]
A swab,
[30]
a test card,
[32]
a test tube.
[33]
If your tube already has liquid inside,
[35]
you can skip this next part,
[37]
but go ahead and tap your test tube
[39]
three or four times against the table,
[41]
just to shake up the solution
[42]
and get it ready for the test.
[43]
Your test tube will likely
have the testing solution
[46]
already inside,
[47]
but in some cases,
[47]
you may have received the solution
[49]
in a separate packet.
[50]
If so, no problem.
[51]
It will look like this
[52]
and we need to pour it into the test tube
[54]
before we start the test.
[56]
Let's do that now.
[57]
Remove the larger lid
[58]
and then, carefully
tear off the top portion
[60]
of your solution packet.
[62]
Pour the entire contents of the packet
[64]
into the tube.
[65]
Careful not to spill.
[66]
Now, put the lid back on the tube
[69]
and you're ready to go.
[70]
Tear the foil packaging off your test card
[73]
and lay the card upright,
[74]
so that it's ready to
receive your test solution
[77]
once you've taken a sample.
[78]
Open the handle end of the swab package
[81]
and pull out the swab.
[82]
Be sure not to touch the swab end
[84]
with your fingers
[85]
or bring the swab into contact
[86]
with any potentially germy surfaces
[89]
other than the ones on the
inside of your nostrils,
[91]
of course,
[92]
which brings us to the fun part
[93]
we know you've been looking forward to.
[97]
Yes, this thing's going
inside of your nose,
[100]
but lucky for you,
[102]
the iHealth rapid test swab
[104]
is specially designed for simple,
[106]
comfortable testing.
[107]
It barely has to be
inserted into the nostril,
[109]
about a half
[110]
to three quarters of an inch.
[112]
Easy. With a swab inside your nostril,
[115]
in a circular motion,
[117]
swab as if you were cleaning
the inside of your nose.
[120]
Note that this is not a matter of
[122]
simply twisting the swab in place.
[124]
When you've finished,
[125]
swab your other nostril the same way.
[127]
Hey, you think you've got it bad,
[129]
I'm the one that has
to keep saying nostril.
[133]
After swabbing both nostrils
[134]
and without letting the
swab touch anything else,
[137]
remove the large lid from your test tube
[139]
and insert the swab all
the way into the solution.
[142]
Twist it back and forth in the solution
[144]
at least 15 times
[146]
and as you're removing
the swab from the tube,
[148]
squeeze the sides of the tube
[150]
to wring every last drop
of delightful solution
[154]
and sample out of that swab.
[156]
Then, replace the large
lid back onto the tube.
[159]
You can now say goodbye to that swab.
[161]
You grew so close in such
a short amount of time.
[164]
Now, let's test the sample.
[166]
Remove the small dropper lid
[169]
at the tip of your test tube
[170]
and carefully squeeze
three drops of solution
[173]
into the receiving port on the test card.
[175]
Set a timer for 15 minutes.
[177]
You'll see your sample
being slowly absorbed
[180]
into the test strip
[181]
and over the next 15 minutes,
[183]
your results will appear on the test strip
[185]
as lines under the C
[187]
and potentially, the T.
[189]
After 15 minutes,
[190]
you can officially read
the results of your test,
[193]
but be aware,
[194]
you only have another
15 minutes to read them
[197]
before the results are
officially considered invalid.
[200]
It's a good idea to set another timer.
[202]
Let's read your results.
[204]
The C line is the control line.
[206]
A line should always appear under the C.
[208]
This tells you that the
sample has been absorbed
[211]
into the strip
[212]
and that the test card is valid.
[213]
If no line appears under the C,
[215]
then the test card is defective
[217]
and if possible,
[218]
you will need to test
three drops of your sample
[221]
on another card.
[222]
The T line is the test line.
[224]
A line will only appear under the T
[227]
if you have tested positive for the virus.
[229]
If there is no line under the T,
[231]
then the test did not detect any virus
[234]
in your sample.
[235]
Nice,
[235]
but be aware
[236]
that depending on certain factors,
[238]
such as how long the virus
has been in your system,
[241]
the line under the T
[242]
may be very faint.
[244]
Regardless of how light or dark,
[246]
any line at all under the T
[248]
means that you have tested positive
[250]
for the virus.
[251]
If you're unsure,
[252]
you may wish to use a magnifying glass
[254]
or hold the test card under a bright light
[257]
for closer inspection
[258]
and that's it.
[259]
If you tested positive, don't panic.
[261]
Seek advice from a medical professional
[263]
on your next steps.
[264]
You can also go to cdc.gov
[267]
for more information
[268]
about how best to keep yourself
[270]
and others safe.
[271]
If your test is negative,
[272]
be safe and get back to
living that life of yours.
[275]
Enjoy.
