the sheriff of lauderdale county alabama

issuing an arrest warrant for missing

corrections officer vicki white last

seen friday when she said she was taking

murder suspect casey white for mental
[20]
health evaluation neither of them
[21]
arrived nbc news correspondent gabe

gutierrez joins me now and gabe probably
[25]
out of the gate i should mention vicki
[26]
and casey white are not related what
[29]
else did sheriff singleton say at his
[30]
press conference today about what on
[32]
earth is going on well there are a lot
[33]
of questions about what on earth is
[35]
going on alison and yes as you it is as
[38]
you mentioned it is a little confusing
[40]
that they both share the same
[42]
last name but at this point authorities
[44]
around the country are looking for this
[46]
pair and at this news conference this
[48]
morning you mentioned that arrest
[50]
warrant where the sheriff said that
[53]
vicki white now faces charges for
[55]
facilitating the escape of an inmate he
[58]
also mentioned that
[60]
the patrol car was seen on surveillance
[63]
video
[65]
just a short time just a few minutes
[67]
after they left the jail and that that
[70]
patrol car was seen at an intersection
[72]
nowhere near the courthouse so at this
[75]
point there are many questions about
[76]
where they could be this is a nationwide
[79]
manhunt at this point and the u.s
[81]
marshal service is offering a 10 000
[83]
reward for any information that could
[86]
lead to an arrest here gabe how about
[88]
surveillance cameras around the
[89]
detention center i mean they obviously
[91]
have top-notch security there any
[93]
information on that end
[95]
well that uh you know the surveillance
[97]
camera that was nearby uh did capture uh
[101]
that patrol car um at that intersection
[104]
and so that indicated to the
[106]
investigators that unlike what uh the
[109]
corrections officer had said you
[110]
remember allison she had said that she
[112]
was transporting the inmate to the
[115]
courthouse for a mental health
[116]
evaluation she also had claimed
[118]
according to police
[120]
that
[121]
you know she was heading herself to
[124]
another appointment right after that
[127]
that both of those turned out not to be
[129]
the case but take a listen to what the
[131]
sheriff said this morning about
[133]
some of the evidence that they're now
[134]
looking at
[136]
we see the patrol car parked at the
[138]
intersection of huntsville road and cox
[140]
street parkway which is about two blocks
[143]
from the location it was found
[145]
that video was
[147]
time stamped at 9 49 a.m
[152]
director white and casey white left the
[154]
detention center at 9 41 a.m
[157]
so that's eight minutes time span
[159]
what that tells us is that the patrol
[162]
car left the detention center and went
[164]
straight to the parking lot
[166]
there was not enough time for them to
[168]
even attempt to try to come to the
[170]
courthouse
[171]
and so investigators are now looking
[173]
into any communication that that both
[176]
the inmate and the corrections officer
[178]
may have had they're looking at any
[180]
potential conversations and the sheriff
[182]
said today that investigators are
[184]
looking into the possibility that they
[186]
may have been romantically involved
[188]
alison
[189]
chief gabe there's a whole lot going on

there and we can't forget right casey
[193]
wright's a capital murder suspect i
[196]
imagine that officials are considering
[197]
him a dangerous person what else are
[199]
they saying yeah that's right allison
[201]
you know he was actually awaiting trial
[203]
uh for capital murder uh charges you see
[206]
him there in that video from february
[208]
2019 he was actually been arrested and
[210]
was in jail
[211]
for another crime spree in 2015 that
[214]
included a home invasion and a
[216]
carjacking but then
[218]
he allegedly confessed to a stabbing
[221]
several years later he later pleaded not
[224]
guilty on that capital murder charge so
[226]
he was you know awaiting trial on that
[228]
but authorities say as you see right
[229]
there that he has often changed his
[231]
appearance you see him there with a
[232]
beard in the previous video he didn't
[234]
have one but what they do say allison as
[236]
you saw in that video of him walking
[238]
through the courthouse he is six nine
[242]
260 pounds
[244]
this is a guy that is hard to miss and
[247]
so they say if um
[249]
you know there's
[251]
couldn't have snuck out of jail very
[252]
easily so they do believe at this point
[255]
that vicky white helped him in some way
[258]
that she participated
[260]
in the escape the question right now
[262]
before investigators is did she do that
[265]
willingly or was she somehow coerced
[268]
into doing it that's something that they
[270]
hope to determine once she gets back
[273]
safe
[276]
