why I'm proud to call Key West my home,

and participation is so welcomed here

This is the event
where those who enter strip down next

to nothing and allow their bodies
to become the canvas.

What you see here on stage

are hundreds of hours that go into these
fine works of art.

And after I got done DJing the event,
I had a chance to chat

with some of the winners.

I want to know how long did this take?

OK, so mine was started today, about 11:00
[300]
in the morning and finished about seven.
[304]
But this guy mine started yesterday
[307]
for about five hours
and eight to nine hours today,
[312]
so we're talking 14 hours about.
[315]
And so collectively, like, we're looking
at 30, just under 30 hours collectively.

Probably,
yeah. Wow. Some solid dedication.

And where are you two from?

I'm from Chicago, but I live in Florida.

I heard Chicago. Yeah,
Tampa, Florida.

Born and raised. OK,
so what's your family?

Think about this?

My daughter is totally into this.

I've been a face, a body artist for many,
many years, so she totally gets it.

My boys are like, whatever, mom. Go ahead.

And I want to bring in the artists.

Tell me, how did you figure out
what you wanted to make?

Well, I am. I'm a stand in this year.
[350]
It was her boyfriend who came up
with the actual concept for this.
[355]
We did make some changes
and some adjustments.
[357]
But Alex Hanson, who's worked here
[362]
for years as came up with a drawing,
a loose concept,
[366]
kind of a collage of different ideas
that he thought would look really,
[369]
really cool.
[370]
We can't take our time on the first day
to just kind of block in the colors.
[373]
And then today we just get down and dirty
and get those details in
[376]
because I don't want to put the details
on the night before or they'll just,
[379]
you know, wear off.
[380]
One piece of advice
that you'd like to share with the world.
[384]
Me, you

Stay true to yourself and love life.

This took all day

from ten to seven, til we got here.

And I was still painting.

It's making people happy,
making people laugh.

Nobody got hurt today. Life's good.

I lost a friend to suicide this year

and during CVD
and I decided that, you know what?

I'm tired of living like we're dying.

So this is the living like you're dying

And this is living like you're living.

You gave me goose bumps saying that.

Come to Fantasy Fest. It lets you be free,
happy and just magnificent.
