STUDY IN CANADA WITHOUT IELTS - International Students - How to waive your English Language Test - YouTube

Channel: unknown

[4]
hi there this is MC again welcome to my Channel so MC from SE Canada so SLE is a
[12]
website that i created for international students so this website is the platform
[17]
that I use to share my experiences so on how I got here in Canada
[23]
as an international student and now I'm transitioning from a student to permanent
[29]
residence so I actually have a good news because I just recently got my regular
[34]
position and they willing to help me to support my permanent residency so that's
[39]
really good and if that is something that you're interested in if you're
[43]
planning to apply for permanent residence too and you want to share your
[47]
the experience here and you want to know more about my journey then consider
[50]
subscribing to my channel and hit the notification bell to get more updates
[54]
so today we're going to talk about how will you be able to waive your English
[59]
exam so here in Canada they use two languages one is English and French so
[66]
most of the provinces here they speak in English so if you're planning to study
[72]
here in Canada obviously you need to demonstrate that you can understand and
[76]
speak in English or communicate with English because if you're gonna study
[80]
you're gonna do some research papers you have to participate in the class so you
[84]
really need to prove that you can communicate in English so some Canadian
[89]
schools they require you to take English proficiency test so they have different
[93]
types of tests that you can take so you could get IELTS so you can also get a
[99]
TOEFL I think there are tons of English exams that you can provide but really
[106]
depends on the school because if it's not listed in the website and you always
[111]
have to double-check the website with what type of in
[114]
they do require but partly in my case, they did not require me to have an English exam so
[120]
this is what I'm going to explain what are the grounds or the rules on how
[129]
would you be able to waive your English exam so basically if your last education
[136]
was in English was instructed or was I would say that let's say in my case and
[144]
the Philippines my Bachelors of Nursing was instructed in English that I was
[150]
able to prove that you just have to get this a letter which I will explain it at
[155]
the end of the video so in this video I'll discuss the most frequently asked
[161]
questions about in English proficiency test and at the end I'm gonna mention
[167]
these schools that probably waive your English test so the first question will
[178]
be, what is IELTS, IELTS is English Language Testing system so in so that's
[184]
the most commonly English proficiency test that being used worldwide and if
[191]
you know more about that you can visit their website I think IELTS is around 300
[197]
Canadian dollars and it has expiration date of around 2 years now you just
[203]
have to be aware that they have two different types of exams one is academic
[209]
and one is general so most people are confused when it comes to that so if
[215]
your purpose is to study in an academic institution and or if your purpose is to process your
[224]
license here in Canada mostly they require you to
[228]
have the IELTS academic but if your purpose is to immigrate then they will
[235]
only require you to take the general IELTS so the next question is can I use
[242]
the general IELTS for my school admission so for that one, it's a case-to-case
[248]
basis so in some schools they can accept it for example in University of Victoria
[254]
I know someone got letter of acceptance by using her IELTS general and as well
[262]
as Lambton College they also accept general I also they're pretty clear with
[267]
that rule so if you're not sure with that if you have a general I also you
[273]
can always double check with the school that you're about to go to if they say
[278]
okay I won't be able to accept this general IELTS then that's the time you can
[282]
take the academic one if I have the IELTS academic result and my school can
[289]
waive the English proficiency is there any chance I could get a discount having
[294]
the academic one so for that one it is possible I think Lambton College offer
[301]
like not a discount it's a scholarship if you have an academic IELTS they can
[308]
offer you up to 1,000 Canadian dollars of scholarship and they also accept as
[314]
I've said earlier they also accept general IELTS but then you would be
[320]
able to get that scholarship so I think you could but it's still the
[326]
discretion of the school so if you want to know more about that so you can
[330]
always double check with the school if they have that kind of policy also for Lambton
[336]
college they want you to have 6.5 over all bands so if you
[342]
meet that criteria then you will get some money from the school you'll get
[346]
1000 Canadian dollars so that's not bad right okay so for number four question
[352]
that we got here is I was able to waive my English exam to get my letter of
[358]
acceptance hence I'm planning to take SDS or students direct stream program
[364]
for my student permit, do I still need to take the IELTS, so for this one
[369]
it's a different purpose so yes you can waive your IELTS when you're getting
[376]
your letter of acceptance so that is from the school admission but now your
[382]
question is about SDS which is the student direct stream that is the
[388]
process run by IRCC so that's a a different institution so if they
[394]
required to have an IELTS of course you have to meet that requirement otherwise
[399]
that you are not eligible to process your student permit through this pathway
[405]
if you don't have an IELTS and then you can always go to Regular Stream you can
[412]
apply for student permit without having an IELTS so that would be an alternative
[417]
option as well so okay for the next question will be I was able to waive my
[425]
English requirement however my Letter of acceptance is
[429]
conditional what does it mean? so meaning that you're you got your letter of
[434]
acceptance but you still have to meet that requirement let's say in your
[439]
letter acceptance it says conditional because you still have to take the
[443]
English Proficient proficiency test then you have to meet that requirement before
[450]
the start of the program so some schools like
[453]
for example Mohawk College they can they can give you the letter of acceptance
[457]
with conditional so in that case once you're here in
[462]
Canada you still have to take the English proficiency test usually the
[466]
facilitate that in their school so I would say that it's better for you to just
[473]
take the IELTS exam before going out of the country it will be more
[479]
convenient for you instead of going here in Canada and taking that exam because
[484]
if you didn't make it if you didn't pass exam if you fail the exam then at the
[491]
end you will have to take the, they call it like, English program for international
[497]
students so that's expensive so you don't want that so I would say take the
[502]
English, meet this requirement beforehand the school website says that I can waive
[508]
my English proficiency is this guaranteed so yeah most website they
[514]
would tell you that yes you can waive your English with some conditions and
[519]
stuff but again it's a case-to-case basis in some programs they still want
[525]
to have they still want you to take the English exam for example from a most
[531]
practical nursing programs they want you to have 6.5 scores so just to be
[539]
sure that you really you don't really need to take the exam check the
[543]
admission requirement and the program requirement so you just have to go to
[548]
their website I'm gonna show it to you one of the
[552]
example will be practical nursing so what is the document needed to
[556]
demonstrate English proficiency so to demonstrate the English proficiency as
[562]
said earlier you just have to either take the proficiency test for example
[567]
IELTS, TOEFL or whatever exam that they accept or you can also waive your
[572]
English by submitting your English as a medium of instruction so I will have
[578]
that document and the link below in the description box you just have to click
[583]
that one and at the end of the page you will see the sample letter that I used
[589]
when I was waiving my English so what are the schools that can possibly
[594]
waive your English proficiency so there are tons of schools here in Canada that
[600]
could actually waive your English really depends on your previous education but
[608]
there's no it's better to check with the school so because they specifically
[614]
specify and the website they could actually read your English so if you
[618]
want to know more about the schools I don't I'm not gonna mention it here in
[623]
the video because there are tons so it's gonna take so long if I'm going to list
[628]
them but if you want to know more those are more about those schools you just
[632]
have to link again the website that I was talking about the link that I have I
[636]
will have every single school there you just have to double check the website
[641]
and come in again with a School Admission College of the North Atlantic
[647]
so I just want to show you how to check the English requirement so if I go to
[653]
become a student and then I go to international student and you click that
[659]
one and it will show you some
[664]
information here so just click language requirements when you see that one it
[671]
will tell you what are they exams that they accept and at the end so here there
[681]
is a paragraph here where it says if an international Afghan has attended an
[686]
educational institution for a period of three years or more where official
[691]
language of instruction was English this is about waiving your English so if you
[696]
see this sentence then you might be able to waive your English so this is what I
[702]
what I was talking about okay so and then in some schools like Holland college
[710]
they have some conditions like I'm gonna show you so when I search language
[721]
search so so you'll see this one just Click that and then again it will tell
[731]
you what are the types of exams that they accept and then here there's the condition here
[739]
where it says prove that you have attended a full-time secondary school
[745]
for a minimum of three consecutive years for language of instruction and
[749]
examination was English so there is a condition here education must have been
[757]
completed within two years so that's a condition okay so if you graduated ten
[763]
years ago then you cannot waive your English proficiency test in Holland
[769]
College so there's another example here if I go to Northern Lights College so
[776]
you know that you can waive here in Northern Lights College but there's
[783]
some certain programs only but if you're going to take practical nursing for
[788]
example they have a condition yes they mentioned here like English as
[797]
medium of instruction in country where English is also an official national
[802]
language so apparently for the Philippines it's not an official
[807]
language so there's a note here that you still had to take the IELTS because you
[815]
really have to take the IELTS when you're want to become a nurse here in
[821]
Canada so there's no other way about to take the IELTS so that's itguys so
[827]
that's how you double-check if you could waive your English and how would you
[832]
double check what are the exams that they could accept so that's it so next
[842]
week my video will be about University of Victoria
[846]
so since I'm here in Victoria I'm planning to visit the University and
[851]
just check it out and have a campus tour with you guys so that's what I
[855]

[862]
University of Victoria so just make sure that again subscribe to my channel
