When and why do wear SG boots? What is Nike Anti Clog Traction? | GSS show 3. episode - YouTube

[5]
Hey! Tarmo here and Global Soccerstore's show 3. episode begins!
[9]
When looking around at Estonian football league calendars,
[11]
we can see that many games have been from artificial grass to natural grass.
[15]
This means that players have to get their metal-studded cleats from a closet
[19]
and add them to their pregame boot list.
[22]
But why metal-studded cleats are needed and when should they be used?
[26]
These are the questions that will be answered in today's episode.
[29]
Like always we take a look at all football boots which players who scored in the Premium League last weekend wore.
[35]
Metal-studded football boots are needed when the pitch has turned very wet and soft.
[40]
This is where naming comes - SG like Soft-Ground.
[43]
Mostly we have these soft fields at spring and autumn,
[46]
but knowing what Estonian weather can bring,
[48]
then it takes only two rainy days to turn good natural grass field to a mud pit.
[54]
If you go to play to this kind field with FG boots,
[57]
then there is a big chance for slipping and for losing the ball if not even losing the game.
[61]
The name "six-studs" comes from that the classical SG soleplate has six screwable metal studs,
[68]
which cut to the crass much more than the plastic FG studs could do.
[72]
There only six metal studs to increase the pressure that each stud can offer to the ground.
[77]
If there would more metal studs than each stud's pressure to the ground would be smaller
[81]
and the studs wouldn't dig as much as needed.
[84]
The stud pressure is important because metal studs are longer than plastic studs
[87]
and that's why they can go deeper to the ground and offer more traction.
[92]
Nowadays the SG sole plate has evolved further than only having six metal studs.
[97]
Because of pro players feedback manufactures started to make mixed studs soleplates,
[101]
which had the classical six metal studs but also had shorter plastic studs.
[107]
It didn't take long for these kinds of soleplates to reach store shelves and be available for everybody.
[112]
With this kind of mixed studs solution, some pressure will be lost in what each stud can offer to the ground,
[117]
but on the other hand stability and traction will improve a lot.
[119]
Especially when making accelerations and quick changes of direction.
[122]
The main difference between the SG and FG is the length of the studs.
[126]
FG studs are just too short to go deep enough on the soft ground and to give the grip needed.
[133]
SG soleplate studs are longer and they can be swapped for even longer ones
[137]
when the pitch is especially wet and muddy.
[139]
Therefore, if you don't want to be that guy who can get off when it's rainy,
[143]
then it would be wise to get a pair of SG boots.
[145]
A pair of these could be an investment for many years to come,
[149]
because the SG boots aren't needed so often than boots with other soleplates.
[154]
You may think that if the SG boots wouldn't be needed so often,
[157]
then couldn't you play those couple games with FG boots?
[161]
The answer for this would be "Yes",
[162]
but maybe those couple of games could be the most important ones of the season,
[165]
which in the end decide the victory, promotion or relegation.
[170]
For example, in the spring of 2014, Steven Gerrard slipped in a game against Chelsea.
[175]
That slip caused a situation which let the opposition to score a goal.
[178]
Many think that as one of the reasons why Liverpool didn't win the league that season.
[182]
Because we are talking about SG soleplates today, then we also take a look at Nike Anti-Clog Traction technology,
[189]
which was unveiled in 2016 and promises to keep the mud from clogging the soleplate of the boot.
[192]
This might be seemingly quite unreal, but in a moment we take look at what makes this technology possible.
[198]
Like we talked previously, it is very important for the SG boots,
[201]
that studs could go into the ground as much as possible.
[205]
But when most of the soleplate is covered in mud, then it is much harder to get the grip needed.
[210]
When initially it was thought, that mechanical or water-repellent solution could work,
[215]
then the final solution was instead the opposite of these.
[217]
When the hydrophilic soleplate gets into contact with water, it creates a slippery surface
[221]
in which the mud doesn't stick so easily.
[223]
In summary, the soleplate uses water and moisture of the ground
[227]
to prevent the mud from clogging up the boots.
[229]
But does it work?
[230]
Rather yes,
[231]
mud does stick to the boots, but there is noticeably less of it than we are used to.
[236]
It might also depend a bit of how wet or muddy the field currently is.
[240]
But what we can say for sure is that this technology isn't this one, which is only available on elite models.
[244]
For example, these Nike Tiempo Legend 7 Academy have also Anti-Clog technology
[249]
and at our online store they cost just 62€.
[252]
What do you think about SG boots and the Anti-Clog traction technology?

[264]
Next, we take a look at "Premium Liiga" 10th matchday goals
[267]
and see which boots were worn by the goalscorers.
[271]
10th match and also the second round of play got its start in Kuressaare
[274]
with a game between FC Kuressaare and Maardu Linnameeskond.
[277]
The winners of the game were hosts, who had to play 2/3 of the game with 10 men.
[282]
FC Kuressaare's goal was scored in the 38th minute by Rauno Tutk who wore Nike Tiempo Legend 7 Elite boots.
[290]
The game between Levadia and Tammeka turned out to be a disaster for the guests,
[294]
because Levadia scored 7 times against them.
[296]
The first goal of the game was scored by Mark Oliver Roosnupp, who wore Adidas Nemeziz 18.1 Messi variation.
[303]
Couple minutes later penalty expert Iengeni Budnik doubled the score while wearing Nike Mercurial Vapor 11 Elites.
[310]
In the middle of the second half, Gando scored his second goal of the season
[313]
who had Phantom Venom Elite boots on his feet.
[317]
After Gando, Roosnupp scored two goals more and finished his hattrick.
[321]
Nemeziz 18.1 gets two points more.
[325]
But this wasn't all.
[327]
At 86th minute Kirill Nesterov scored with Mizuno Morelia Neo II boots
[333]
and a minute later Nikita Andreev added one more.
[336]
We know that Andreev wore Nike Tiempos, but we are sure if he had Elite, Pro or Academy version.
[342]
We put his goal under Elites at the table,
[345]
but if somebody has more specific information then let us know.
[350]
The game between Narva Trans and Paide Linnameeskond was heading for a tie,
[353]
until Tarmo Neemole was brought down in the 86. minute.
[357]
This was followed with a penalty, which was scored by Henri Välja
[360]
while wearing Adidas Copa 18.1 football boots.
[363]
The first game on Sunday was between Viljandi Tulevik and FC Flora.
[368]
At the end of the first half, Vlasiy Sinyavskiy opened the score.
[371]
On his feet were the new Mercurial Vapor 12 Elites from the Euphoria pack.
[377]
At the 66th minute, the goal was scored with Nike Hypervenom Phantom 3 Elite Low model,
[382]
when Herol Riiberg scored straight from the corner kick.
[384]
The guy probably knew that he was going to be subbed off soon, so he decided to get the goal by himself.
[389]
10 minutes later Kaimar Saag scored a screamer for Viljandi.
[393]
With this beauty, he brought points for the Adidas X 18.1 model.
[398]
The last goal of the game was scored by Martin Miller. He was wearing Mercurial Vapor 12 Elites.
[404]
Tallinna Kalev almost got away with surprise once again.
[408]
The game between them and Nõmme Kalju was tied until the last moments of the additional time,
[412]
until Mikk Reintam was found with a cross and who scored the winning header.
[416]
He wore the most classical boots he could get - the Adidas Copa Mundials.
[422]
It took some time to detect his boots because he had taped both of them over with white tape.
[428]
This is how the most successful boots Top 5 looks like after the 10th matchday.
[433]
Looks like that these five are getting ahead of the other boots,
[436]
because the best five boots haven't been changed in the last three matchdays.
[439]
Nevertheless, we will keep our eye on the goalscorers.
[442]
If you would like to get these boots for yourself, then you will find them on our website - globalsoccerstore.com.
