In 2015 I quarried up the whole garden Underneath my feet and made an underground bunker.
[100]
Thats nearly five years old now so how is it keeping up! you never know when you might
[105]
need it. As you can see it completely blends in if you didn't know it was here you wouldn't
[109]
know it was here. the grass is all the same now, it's pretty flat. I've got houses behind
[115]
me which didn't have before. the solid shed is still聽a really solid shed, if you want
[119]
to see how to make that shed, there is a video showing you how to make it! that shed actually
[123]
won shed of the year in 2017 for the bunker bit as well. all looks pretty normal up here,
[132]
lets have a look inside.
[151]
It's just as amazing as the day I built it!
[168]
this place has stood still in time, even the tape is still stuck to the walls the ladder
[173]
of course if with it being stainless steel has got no corrosion, it's got no damage on
[176]
it or anything the only thing I have changed in the tunnels as I like to call it, is I
[181]
have lacquered the walls and I've added four vents into the floor and I'll get onto why
[185]
did that shortly when I'm in the main room. the only other thing which has happened in
[189]
here which hasn't happened anywhere else in the whole bunker, is a bit on the wall and
[195]
it sounds Hollow I'm guessing the cement is contracted slightly no other place in the
[200]
whole bunker does it sound like. that right then onto the main bit. This is still one
[209]
of the best things I have ever made!
[234]
now stats on the room; it's 24 foot long, by 16 foot wide, the ceiling is 8 foot high
[240]
in the center the whole thing is covered in about a foot of concrete it's a tiny bit thinner
[245]
in some places and it's a tiny bit thicker in some places the distance between the top
[250]
of the ceiling and the surface is just under 3 foot, about 18 inches, nearly half of that
[256]
is concrete and also within that concrete is a load of steel beams for extra strength.
[262]
now in聽August 2020 it will be about 5 years old, and I'm standing here and it does not
[268]
look any different to the day we made it. there is even still footprints on the ceiling
[273]
from when the sheets of metal was still in a heap at the top of the hole. now there's
[277]
a few other marks I've got some black soot up on the ceiling here cuz I've got a flame
[282]
throwing guitar we filmed that video down here, I've been blatantly flame-throwing the
[287]
ceiling because you can do that down it it's a metal box the ceiling will not catch fire
[292]
this is one of the things I actually use it for. it's a pretty good set because it's a
[297]
constant, the Lighting's always the same there's no road noise, there's no wind down here,
[303]
the video of me with my arm mounted rocket launchers, I filmed that down here, we can
[307]
fire fireworks down here it doesn't matter there's a burn mark on the ceiling down there
[313]
when we blew a drone up. it's brilliant for that so I get asked do I use it? yes I do
[318]
other them film in here, I've got the 3d printer down here that can be wearing away all night
[322]
it's not gonna keep anybody up, I watched a Formula One down here
[326]
because it's got Sky TV. also Rick who helps me out, he's in a blues band, this is the
[332]
ultimate band practice room!
[343]
It's sound proof
[351]
it's also where I keep a lot of my projects we have the ejector bed, thermite launcher,
[360]
Assassin's Creed grappling-hook, Wolverine claws, running built of knives, fire rocket
[367]
launcher, flame throwing guitar, multiple world records, fold-out metal shield, wrist
[375]
mounted flamethrowers, turkey cooking machine, magnetic shoes, wrist mounted hydraulic jaws,
[385]
hydraulic scissor shoes, there's a lot of cool stuff, you should probably subscribe!
[390]
what's it like as a room? well temperature-wise 12 degrees all year round, ventilation got
[396]
a high level one above the door a low level one in this corner. now that's got a fan in
[400]
front of it but we don't actually use that anymore it kind of self circulates itself
[405]
and you never come down here it's never damp it never stinks never leaked the walls haven't
[410]
gone rusted. the only problem we've had is a bit of condensation in the tunnel from when
[414]
the bandar in here but it turns out you solve that able lacquer in it and be by putting
[418]
a duvet up and then it stops all the hot air from going in there. fantastic! I wouldn't
[423]
make it any differently if I was to do it again. it's spot-on size, everything brilliant!
[430]
now but request that on my social media channels if you had any questions and these are the
[435]
most popular ones. could you live in it? have you ever slept down there? have you got supplies?
[439]
well yep I've got some food, we've got water, we've got various little bits and bobs. I've
[444]
got some toilet rolls but there's no toilet! I have slept down here a couple of times when
[448]
we had that heatwave. wouldn't want to live down here, mainly because there's no windows.
[453]
How much did it cost and did you need planning permission
[456]
for it? yes I did get planning permission. now I got it retrospectively which was a bit
[461]
of a risk, but also it needed building regs as well so building control had to come and
[464]
check to see if they were happy with it and in terms of costs I can't give you an exact
[469]
number cuz it was a sponsored project and I'm contractually obliged not to give away
[472]
those sorts of things, but you'd buy a pretty decent family saloon with it. would it ever
[478]
flood? no I live on top of a hill so if this place floods or fills of water a lot of other
[484]
people have drowned. will there be any additions? well at some point I'd like to extend it but
[489]
like a proper bathroom in it, but of course got houses behind us, it's not as easy getting
[493]
all the rubble out. but what I am working on right now is a gasifier so we can run engines
[498]
of wood gas, very apocalyptic! will it add value to your house? I don't know I'm never
[504]
going to sell it, but I was told by an estate agent I'd have
[507]
to sell the bunker with the house attached to it, rather than the house with a bunker.
[512]
so there we are after five years is just as solid as the day it was built. and I encourage
[518]
anyone if you've got the space and the money build one. it is a fantastic room to have
[523]
especially with things like they are in the world at the moment. I'm pretty glad I've
[527]
got it. now if I have missed anything or is anything else you want to know, stick it in
[531]
the comments, I'll do my best to answer it as much as possible, but before I leave yeah
[536]
there is one cool thing which I've done in here which I need to show you. I've got a
[542]
smoke machine, the vents blocked up and I'm just gonna hold it on continuously. let's
[547]
white this place out!
[552]
I'm here.
