S-Bahn Hamburg: Berliner Tor – Stand der Umbauarbeiten im Juni 2021 - YouTube

Hi! Welcome in Hamburg, at Berliner Tor suburban rail station! Meanwhile – in June 2021 –

the old access building from Bürgerweide street has been torn down, it was at the position of the excavator.  

During the time of construction the platforms can now be reached by the wooden bridge.

From the bridge you can have new views of tracks and railway buildings,  

like here upon the platform of the suburban line to Bergedorf.

A train from Bergedorf is entering the station. In the background you see „Berliner Bogen“ office building. 

Here's the view to the other side, where suburban trains pass on to central station.

The staircase leading from the lower ticket hall to the bridge across the railway line to Lübeck

is already gone, and the old stairs are uncovered.

Unfortunately the windows of the bridge were closed on this hot summer day,

so that you have to get by with the dirt on the glass.

Here you can see stairs and escalator that once led up to the platform of the line to Bergedorf.

The tracks of the line to Ohlsdorf and Poppenbüttel are lying in the background

where a train of line S 1 or S 11 is just arriving.

Here's the view from the upper platform towards central station,  

a train of S 21 to Aumühle is entering. 

From the upper platform you can see the uncovered stairs and escalator as well. 

The tracks of the railway line to Berlin are located besides the suburban tracks,  

an ICE train is arriving. 

From the wooden bridge we can look on top of the roof of the upper platform,  

where this suburban train from Bergedorf or Aumühle is arriving. 

When they continue to central station trains pass across the tracks of the railway line

to Lübeck and across the track of S 1 and  S 11 leading to Ohlsdorf, there,  

where another suburban train is arriving. As a third train there is an ICE to Berlin. 

The access to the platform is split in two  so that passengers can better move apart.

The bridge offers a lot of space inside.

And again, many trains on the upper tracks.

Berliner Tor is a junction for suburban and long distance train lines.

Thus, construction work must be timed precisely

in order to causes as little disturbance on train traffic as possible.
