Welcome to this GamblingSites.org sports betting
how-to video.
[11]
Iâm Drew Goldfarb, and today weâll be
breaking down âPleaserâ bets.
[15]
Whether youâre betting on football, baseball,
basketball, hockey, or anything else, make
[20]
sure to check out GamblingSites.org for all
of your sports betting needs.
[24]
So before we get into the strategy for making
Pleaser bets, letâs break down what they
[29]
are, exactly.
[30]
Pleasers are a type of parlay that involve
combining multiple point spread wagers or
[36]
multiple totals wagers into a single bet.
[40]
Just as with standard Parlays, all selections
in the Pleaser must be correct for the wager
[45]
to win.
[46]
Pleasers are much harder to win, however,
as the spreads or lines are moved in the bookmakerâs
[50]
favor.
[51]
In this way, they are essentially the opposite
of âTeaserâ bets, and are one of the more
[56]
advanced wagers you can make.
[59]
⊠In this video, weâll help break them
down for you, so that you, too, can make informed
[63]
decisions and bets.
[66]
Letâs start with an example, and say that
youâre looking at these two matchups on
[70]
the point spread.
[71]
Your preferred bookmaker has the Pittsburgh
Steelers as 6.5-point favorites at home against
[76]
the Cleveland Browns, and the New England
Patriots as 7.5-point favorites on the road
[81]
against the New York Giants.
[82]
A standard two-team parlay would be a logical
bet if you felt that the Steelers and the
[87]
Patriots would both cover the spread.
[89]
It would be successful if they won by 7 points
and 8 points, respectively, though it wouldnât
[94]
give you a *huge* return for your money.
[96]
Youâd probably end up winning about two-and-a-half
times your initial stake.
[102]
Not bad by any means, but not spectacular.
[105]
⊠So letâs say you wanted to go for a
bigger return, and you are confident that
[108]
the Steelers and Patriots will both not just
cover the spread, but do so comfortably.
[113]
If thatâs the case, you might consider a
6-point Pleaser.
[117]
This would move each of the spreads against
you by 6 points apiece.
[121]
Now, youâd need the Steelers to win by at
least 13, and the Patriots to win by at least
[126]
14.
[128]
This is less likely to happen, of course,
but youâd end up with a bigger potential
[131]
payout of around six times your initial stake.
[135]
There are two main factors in determining
the payout odds: the number of points the
[140]
spread is moved by, and the number of selections
included in the wager.
[144]
Obviously, the more points you move the spreads
by, or the more picks added to the Pleaser,
[149]
the more difficult it will be to get the selections
right.
[152]
These higher payouts do mean that you donât
have to win on your Pleaser bets quite as
[156]
often to break even or win money long-term,
but the payouts are higher for a very good
[161]
reason.
[162]
For example, using our 2-team, 6-point example
that has a 6-to-1 payout, youâd need each
[168]
selection to be correct individually 37.8%
of the time.
[172]
That would mean that 14.29% of the time, youâd
get both selections correct and win your Pleaser
[178]
bet, which is the minimum amount in order
to break even.
[181]
Many people view Pleaser bets as -EV, but
there are rare times that +EV Pleaser bets
[187]
exist.
[190]
The best point spreads to Please across for
two-team, six-point Pleasers areâŠ
[195]
Teams favored by 7.5, 10.5 or 14.5 points,
and underdogs listing at +13.5, +16.5, and
[203]
+20.5 or higher.
[205]
⊠If you want to know just how rare +EV
Pleaser bets are to find, we went back through
[210]
NFL seasons over a specific five-year stretch,
and found only 19 weeks had at least a two-team
[216]
Pleaser option available.
[217]
Only 4 of those times was it a 3-team Pleaser
at +EV.
[222]
Thatâs over the span of 5 NFL seasonsâŠ
[224]
85 total weeks⊠and fewer than 20 opportunities
for a +EV Pleaser bet.
[232]
Pleaser betting is a fun way to have a chance
at a large payout for a small stake.
[236]
Thereâs nothing wrong with making $20, 6-team
Pleaser bets, hoping to cash-in on a $6,000
[242]
payday.
[243]
Itâs just important to note that this is
for fun⊠donât get carried away betting
[246]
more than you can afford to lose.
[248]
If youâre looking to make only +EV bets,
then youâre probably going to want to look
[253]
elsewhere.
[254]
⊠⊠⊠⊠Thatâll do it for our âPleasersâ
guide.
