Pro-Life: It's Non-Negotiable | The Truth Of It - Ep. 97 - YouTube

Yes, you must be Pro-Life. I'm Martyn Iles and this is
[5]
'The Truth of It'. I was travelling at the time, so I actually
[7]
missed my chance to film a response to the overturning of
[10]
Roe vs. Wade in the United States Supreme Court, some weeks
[12]
ago. But I don't want to miss a chance to explain why pro-life
[16]
is good, why it is right, and why it is non-negotiable for the
[19]
Christian. Pro-Lifer's welcomed the legal change in America
[23]
with Roe vs. Wade being overturned, because it does mean,
[25]
in practice, that there will be fewer abortions in America. But,
[28]
for me, that's not only reason why it's good. It's also good
[31]
because it is quite true. There is no right to abortion in the
[35]
U.S. Constitution. The document is completely silent on the
[38]
matter, as constitutions around the world tend to be. It's not
[40]
the sort of thing you put in a constitution. It wasn't
[43]
there. It was never there. It was a fabrication. It's true,
[45]
it's right that the court says, yeah it's not there, okay? So,
[48]
the States can legislate as they please but it's not in the
[50]
Constitution. It is also true, that no law should sanction
[54]
abortion, because the law should not say that what is
[57]
wrong is right. It's pretty simple. And the act of aborting
[59]
a child is wrong. Law says what's in, what's out. It should
[62]
be what's right and what's wrong. It's supposed to accord
[64]
with God's standard of righteousness, so the scriptures
[66]
say in multiple places. It's not right that it should
[68]
sanction it. But, it's also true, that Pro-Life is good, it is
[72]
right, and it's commanded by God. God commands, in a
[76]
non-negotiable way, the advancement of both biological
[80]
and spiritual life. Two things, right? They are separate
[83]
words in the New Testament, 'bios' and 'zoe'. Two different
[87]
kinds of life. And regarding the first, biological life,
[90]
Genesis 9 holds a really key - a really important key.
[94]
It says this, God says, 'I will require a reckoning for the
[98]
life of man. For God made man in His own image. As for you,
[103]
be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly in the earth,
[107]
and multiply in it.' In other words: make life, not death, and
[113]
I will judge you accordingly. Children are never given a
[117]
negative connotation in all of the Bible, only positive. Psalm 127
[121]
is well known. It says that children are a reward, that they
[124]
are a heritage from the Lord. It says that children are a
[129]
blessing to fathers. Children are a blessing to mothers. It
[132]
says grandchildren are a blessing to grandparents in
[134]
Proverbs. Jesus used children as a metaphor for faith,
[138]
a metaphor for greatness in the Kingdom of God, and a metaphor
[142]
of Himself, because of their humility, dependence, trust,
[147]
and lowliness. You remember, Jesus said 'I'm meek and lowly
[150]
in heart', right? Condition of entering the Kingdom: poor in
[152]
spirit. He's likening - He used a child as a great metaphor
[155]
for a number of those key things. God decided to save the
[159]
world through the birth of a child. Ever since Genesis 3:15,
[162]
there would be a child that was born - that's what Genesis 3:15
[164]
is promising - that would crush evil, that would crush Satan.
[167]
When Galatians 4:4 says, 'When the fullness of the time
[169]
was come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman.'
[173]
Tragically, because of abortion, we routinely kill our
[178]
children. And that is clearly evil, and God will judge us
[184]
accordingly. That's biological life. What about spiritual
[188]
life? It is possible for a human being to be biologically
[191]
alive, and yet spiritually dead. There are many references, but
[195]
in Ephesians 2, that's just one: 'God, being rich in mercy,
[198]
because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we
[201]
were dead in our trespasses, made us alive, together with
[204]
Christ.' There you go. Romans 6:13 says, '...we should live as those
[208]
who have been brought from death to life...'
[209]
Spiritual death / spiritual life - both states can exist in a biologically alive
[213]
human being. But that is why, the same evil forces that literally
[217]
kill children, would also seek to see children corrupted and
[221]
have their innocence robbed from them as young as possible. The
[225]
assault on the innocence of children, the corruption of
[228]
children, has gathered pace in a very short time, and right now
[231]
the vanguard of that, is the school system and the
[234]
entertainment system. And I'm sorry to say that there have been
[236]
institutional system some run by churches, and some in
[239]
churches, in the past that have done exactly this, that have
[241]
that have also been responsible for great corruption and great
[244]
stumbling of children. The design... what is it, from all
[247]
these evil people wherever they find their foothold? If the
[250]
children must live, then they must be dead to towards God.
[255]
These are all the sick, dark, and twisted designs of death.
[259]
But it has ever been thus. As early as Genesis 3:15,
[262]
which I think I mentioned just a minute ago -
[264]
scripture flags for us, a great conflict between good and evil,
[267]
and right in the guts of it will be a war on human life -
[271]
the offspring of women - that's what the war will be centred
[273]
on, climaxing in the war on Jesus, the son of Mary, who it
[276]
says will crush the serpent, crush evil, although He Himself
[280]
will be bruised. This reality of the way evil denigrates
[286]
children is everywhere. You look at Pharaoh, given over to
[288]
Satanic influence, killed all the Hebrew babies. That is why
[291]
Herod, jealous for power, killed all the boys in
[294]
Bethlehem. That is why children are so frequently at the bottom
[297]
of the social order, and victims of forces of corruption and
[299]
destruction, I just touched on that. To those people
[302]
responsible, Jesus said, 'Whoever causes one of these
[306]
little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for
[309]
him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to
[311]
be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the one by whom the
[314]
temptation comes.' Better, He means, than to face God's
[319]
judgement for such an act. Now the war on life is very
[323]
intense. Not just in history, but in our day. On physical
[329]
life, we have politicians who literally throw parties when
[333]
they pass abortion-to-birth laws through our parliaments.
[336]
They are bent on the physical deaths of children. We also
[340]
have, on the spiritual side, sickos in the education system,
[343]
and the entertainment industries, bent on the
[346]
spiritual destruction of children, the corruption of
[349]
their innocence, and the insertion, the placing of stumbling
[352]
blocks and temptations in their way to turn them away from what
[354]
is right. What are we to do? We need Pro-Lifers, to advance the
[360]
physical and the spiritual lives of children. Because it
[363]
is through the life of people, it is through the creation of
[366]
life, that God advances His plan. What happened, by the way,
[370]
when Pharaoh did his worst? God preserved a life, miraculously,
[374]
in Moses, to advance His plan. What happened when Herod did
[377]
his worst? God preserved a life, miraculously, in Jesus to finish
[381]
His plan, for all time. What happened, by the way, when God's
[384]
people slumped down into a terrible situation in the era
[386]
of the Judges. How did God get them out of that? How did He
[388]
change the era and the times? He raised up a life - Samuel,
[391]
through the prayers of his mother, Hannah, and ushered in a
[394]
new era. It is through life that God advances His plan. Yes,
[400]
we need to be Pro-Lifers. And we need to be Pro-Lifers in the
[403]
political world, right? And that's something that I've had
[406]
to do a lot of, and a lot of advocacy, and we pray and trust that as
[409]
America is making great gains, we will continue to see gains
[411]
here. We've seen small ones. We trust that we'll see more. But
[415]
we also need to be those who are Pro-Lifer's, just in our
[420]
lives. We need to be those who do have children, as we're
[423]
commanded to, if we can, if we're married. We need to treasure
[426]
the children that we know. We need to pray, intently and
[430]
earnestly, for the children in our lives. We need to be
[433]
involved, as best we can, in the spiritual formation and the
[436]
guidance for righteousness of children. We need to protect
[440]
children. We need to dedicate our children to the Lord to
[443]
advance His purposes. That is the Pro-Life life. It is good.
[448]
It is right. God has commanded it, and He hasn't made it
[451]
negotiable. And it's becoming so, so countercultural. As
[455]
children drop to the bottom of the social ladder, excluded from
[458]
more and more places than ever, considered to be an
[460]
inconvenience, replaced by puppy dogs and kittens by millennial
[463]
couples - I could go on. Do you know something? Boy, oh boy, will
[468]
Christians stand apart because of their difference on this
[471]
matter. Advancing the biological and the spiritual life
[477]
of every child because this is good, and don't forget it. I'm
[482]
Martyn Iles and that was 'The Truth of It'.
