The BEST Card Control EVER! Magic TUTORIAL - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[0]
all right we have a deck of cards and
[2]
the spectator names a car that they see
[4]
so which one do you see right there oh
[6]
let's say they say two of diamonds you
[7]
go two diamonds I love that card
[9]
we'll leave it in the center of the deck
[10]
I don't know where it is you don't know
[11]
where it is but in fact with a snap of
[13]
the fingers you have complete control
[14]
over that card
[17]
[Music]
[27]
[Music]
[42]
[Music]
[52]
[Music]
[55]
yo guys Aleksandra here what's going on
[58]
I'm really excited about this video
[60]
today because today we are going to
[62]
learn my favorite control of all time
[64]
it's called a turnover pass now the
[66]
turnover Pass is something that I've
[68]
released in the past but I think it's
[69]
important to learn and learn correctly
[71]
we're gonna learn the move in three easy
[73]
steps and figure out why it's important
[75]
why you should use it and why it's my
[77]
favorite control of all time
[78]
so let's take a look at the turnover
[79]
pass how it looks learn it and then go
[82]
out and blow some minds alright we have
[85]
a deck of cards and the spectator names
[87]
a car that they see so which one do you
[89]
see right there oh let's say they say
[90]
two diamonds you go two diamonds I love
[92]
that card we'll leave it in the center
[93]
of the deck I don't know where it is you
[94]
don't know where it is but in fact with
[96]
the snap of the fingers you have
[98]
complete control over that card okay
[102]
before we get into the actual technique
[104]
of the turnover pass I want to go over a
[106]
few things psychologically when doing
[108]
this move now there's a few ways to do
[110]
it as you may or may not know this is
[112]
part of the invisible control category
[113]
where it looks like nothing is happening
[116]
and in fact all you're doing is turning
[118]
over the deck now before we get into it
[121]
I want to explain one thing the turnover
[123]
pass originally never made sense to me
[126]
and it's for one reason and one reason
[128]
only when doing the move all the time
[131]
you would have the card get placed back
[133]
and then the hand would turn over for
[138]
whatever reason he does a check the time
[141]
or to grab something or whatever and it
[144]
was a unjustified move for the most part
[146]
okay instead what I've done what the
[149]
turnover past is taken it and turned it
[151]
around 180 degrees so what that means is
[154]
that instead of doing the control with
[156]
the cards face down and then have the
[158]
cards go face up and then phase down
[160]
again is start with the deck face up
[162]
have the card selected
[164]
whatever the case may be and then turn
[166]
the deck from face up to face down
[168]
that's very important because that's
[170]
truly gonna build it into I didn't do
[172]
anything I just placed a deck on the
[173]
table or gave it to the spectator just
[176]
literally in this move instead of
[177]
instead of here here here okay so I hope
[181]
that makes sense and you'll see in the
[182]
performance why it's important okay so
[185]
before we talk about the actual
[186]
technique used for the turnover pass I
[189]
want to get a few things across that I
[191]
think is important before we begin like
[194]
I was saying instead of going from face
[196]
down to face up and then back to face
[200]
down because this is the starting
[201]
position of how every trick starts right
[204]
you have a card selected you place it
[205]
back into the pack and then you're in
[207]
this situation the deck is in your hand
[210]
and you're ready to find the card or
[211]
whatever you do okay so we always have
[213]
to get back to this situation now
[216]
instead of going from here doing the
[219]
move right originally how it was you're
[222]
like turn over do the do the move and
[224]
then your hand has to turn over there's
[226]
a lot of room for flashing and then you
[229]
turn your hand back over it's a lot of
[231]
things going on okay and I don't like
[232]
that so much so I decided to turn
[235]
everything around and start from mid
[237]
face up okay now for a few reasons it
[241]
feels more natural and free and I think
[243]
that's so much better than just having
[245]
this picture in their head all the time
[247]
here please pick a card okay
[249]
and I know I've said that over and over
[251]
and I'll continue to say it until you
[253]
guys stop being like everybody else and
[255]
start being unique I think that's
[257]
important so instead of doing this turn
[258]
over the cards say look which one do you
[260]
want now another thing that you may have
[263]
noticed and when I perform it I always
[265]
do this I start in front of the
[268]
spectator like this now the best angle
[269]
for this move is of course a little bit
[272]
to the side like this to prevent any
[275]
flashing okay this is the perfect angle
[277]
you are the spectator and the cards are
[280]
all the cards and this angle from your
[282]
eye to here would be the perfect
[284]
position to do the move just like that
[288]
okay now you obviously don't want to
[292]
start with your side okay and of course
[293]
this is too much alright doing something
[295]
like this and then going
[297]
way to the side is a very awkward and
[301]
don't never do that so from here I start
[306]
facing the spectator now I need a motive
[309]
I need a reason to do this alright and
[312]
it's very simple I spread the cards and
[315]
I say look which card do you want to use
[317]
for this effect obviously to them and of
[321]
course your point of view the cards are
[323]
upside down I noticed this and in
[326]
between in my line I go oh do you see
[328]
the cars and I turn okay so from here I
[331]
take a step with my right foot forward
[333]
and I go oh do you see the cards okay
[336]
you don't have to make a big deal out of
[338]
it is just here which one do you want to
[340]
use do you see them which one okay and
[343]
now you're in the perfect position
[344]
alright now from here you can execute
[347]
the move with whatever car they say and
[349]
we're gonna take a look at that right
[350]
now in three easy steps
[351]
okay so the first thing is you're going
[353]
to need to get a break underneath the
[355]
car that they named so once you spread
[357]
the deck just like this they're gonna
[359]
name a card let's say it's the ten of
[361]
clubs you're gonna catch a break
[362]
underneath now it's important not to get
[365]
your break as soon as they name the card
[368]
okay because this is how it's gonna look
[369]
if that happens they name the card you
[371]
get you move right you this is a very
[374]
awkward situation and it can look weird
[377]
when you they name a card and then you
[379]
do one of these things right and it's
[380]
pretty obvious you're doing something
[382]
okay so you want to look as natural as
[384]
possible
[384]
so I wait okay my pinkie touches the
[388]
back of the card but I don't push up all
[391]
the way and also the other reason is
[392]
that once you square up the deck and if
[394]
you get a break like that look what
[395]
happens okay this is very nasty I hate
[398]
this I feel like vomiting when I see
[399]
this when you're about to do a pass or a
[401]
turnover pass in this case we're just
[403]
holding a break I swear to god I see
[405]
this all the time and it drives me crazy
[406]
so we're going to try to eliminate that
[408]
and the way that we do that is they name
[411]
the card you place your pinkie touching
[413]
it just like this spread the rest of the
[415]
cards and you're going to square up and
[417]
don't get that break just yet look the
[419]
pinkie is not pushing up there is no
[421]
nothing to see on this side and you
[424]
should be good okay now from here you're
[427]
going to push up on the break only
[430]
when the hand comes over okay so as the
[433]
hand comes over that's when you push up
[435]
and you're not even gonna maintain that
[437]
break for a long time what you're going
[439]
to do is you're going to automatically
[441]
go into step number one okay so this is
[445]
the setup for it now for step number one
[447]
step number one is going to be tilting
[449]
this packet down like that because
[452]
basically what's going to happen is this
[455]
packet is going to rotate from face up
[457]
to face down and so as this packet is it
[459]
on also rotate from face up to face down
[461]
but they're gonna do it like that okay
[464]
so you're essentially invisibly cutting
[466]
the deck all right just like that all
[469]
right so from here the break you're
[472]
going to start by dipping your hand down
[474]
all you have to do is literally this
[476]
with your hand that's it okay this is a
[479]
very easy move if you put the three
[481]
steps together alright from here to here
[485]
okay I doubt that's hard
[487]
alright literally you're just dipping
[489]
just like that alright second move
[493]
alright so once that dips the second
[496]
move is going to be turning this around
[498]
alright so all you're doing for that is
[501]
just this alright again
[503]
not a hard move your first finger is
[505]
here turning it around like that alright
[508]
from here to here alright and you're
[512]
gonna do that almost at the same time
[513]
alright boom boom instead of boom
[515]
instead of doing this and you're waiting
[518]
and then doing that there's a lot of
[521]
room for flashing the packets or a part
[523]
and this position you don't want to be
[525]
held in this very confined position for
[528]
a long time number one I dip down until
[530]
it makes like a tee position okay this
[532]
is the letter T keep that in mind
[534]
once that T starts you can start pulling
[537]
this packet now in the beginning you're
[540]
gonna see that they start hitting each
[541]
other this is a good sign that means
[542]
you're doing it tight tight is good
[544]
loose is bad you could take that however
[547]
way you want tight is good tight
[549]
touching each other
[551]
dip down until it makes the T then I
[554]
start to turn so I know that it clears
[556]
and then step number three is I think
[560]
the most important one because from here
[562]
a lot of people
[564]
they would turn their hand over okay for
[567]
cover or they would let me check my
[569]
watch or move something or you know my
[573]
opinion is I don't like that do what you
[575]
want but from here I get my break as my
[580]
hand comes here I dip you see I dip and
[582]
now I start to turn this one too and now
[588]
for the last move my fingers of the left
[591]
hand sorry my fingers of the left hand
[594]
will push up the packet until it reaches
[598]
the nails okay so you could feel your
[601]
nails on there so one pull and then push
[605]
up until it gets to the nails so that
[608]
the cars are in the same position of
[612]
when they started they start on this
[615]
platform move is done you pull you push
[620]
up and it's the level right it's the
[623]
same level all right so that's important
[625]
so again really quickly I get my break
[629]
actually I just put my pinky I get my
[631]
break as the cards close in my hand
[633]
comes here that's when I push up my hand
[636]
dips down you can see that dip like that
[639]
my first finger after it makes that tea
[641]
starts to pull and now at this position
[645]
you're gonna push up until it reaches
[646]
the nails and now you can take it into
[649]
the right hands place it onto the table
[651]
you could give it to the spectator you
[653]
can just drop it into the other hand and
[655]
you're good to go okay so it should look
[657]
like here which one do you want or if
[661]
you see them the two of clubs break
[663]
pinky break now tilt down now pull now
[670]
and now very quickly after this is done
[674]
because if you're gonna go here you're
[677]
gonna get into a weird position you push
[679]
up with the fingertips and you get back
[682]
into that level plane pick up with the
[683]
right hand place it on the table
[685]
well can you hold the deck or just drop
[688]
it like that and be very free with the
[690]
cards okay one thing that I want to
[691]
mention is about the angles now once you
[694]
start to do it and you start getting it
[696]
in tighter you'll notice that the angles
[698]
are really not that bad of course that
[700]
would be the best position but let's say
[702]
you were in front of the spectator well
[705]
you can do something to cover that
[707]
action of basically what's going to
[710]
happen is at this point is probably
[711]
going to flash okay through this part of
[714]
the finger two of the hands all right so
[717]
to get away around that I use something
[720]
called the dip the natural up-and-down
[722]
motion of your hands now this happens
[725]
all the time
[726]
in magic and I think it's important to
[729]
use to your advantage so for example if
[732]
I have my hands and I'm here it's
[733]
natural if I place my hands higher okay
[737]
now I have room to relax all right
[740]
so that's important the room to relax is
[742]
going to be used to do it on this angle
[745]
so it should look like something like
[747]
this you've raised your hands in a in a
[749]
more than relaxed position
[751]
you spread let's say they say a card
[754]
you're going to do this and now as you
[758]
come over to do the move you're relaxing
[761]
okay so you're relaxing and then you're
[763]
coming back up okay
[765]
relaxing and coming back up back to the
[768]
sort of natural position relax for a
[771]
second come back up card is controlled
[774]
and you have a very nice moment that
[776]
doesn't involve too much misdirection
[779]
okay even from worse angles you can see
[783]
how this tights turn over pass could be
[785]
used let's say nine of Spades nine of
[788]
spades I don't know exactly where it is
[789]
and even if they were standing somewhere
[791]
behind you you can see how it's pretty
[794]
good pretty good
[794]
okay so a few things that I want to go
[797]
over and reinforce some of the facts
[799]
about the turn over pass is the
[801]
following so first things first this is
[803]
an invisible type of control where it
[805]
looks like nothing is happening so
[807]
please don't do this control and then
[811]
start shuffling the deck okay I think
[812]
that's something I said in a previous
[814]
video
[815]
there's no point okay if you do it
[817]
correctly and I know the mentality
[819]
because sometimes I used to do this as
[821]
well you do the control you think in
[823]
your head or I didn't do it so well so
[825]
let me just reinstall the fact
[827]
that it's lost by shuffling and you go
[830]
into that it's something that you should
[832]
try to stay away from as much as
[834]
possible because again in my opinion of
[836]
course it leads to the fact that oh
[839]
you're doing something quick with your
[841]
hands and I want to be the type of
[843]
magician card Handler whatever you want
[846]
to call it that if I'm gonna do
[847]
something I do it very smooth and
[850]
different from your typical card trick
[852]
okay
[853]
so everything that goes into this
[855]
sleight by having them name a card
[857]
face-up very important takes you away
[860]
from your typical card trick as well as
[862]
look place it on the table or I don't
[865]
want to touch anything I didn't do
[866]
anything no shuffling no it's not pick a
[869]
card I'm gonna shuffle it now I'm gonna
[870]
find it okay
[871]
once they name the card you do the
[872]
control put it in their hands on the
[874]
table and it doesn't feel like every
[875]
other card trick okay so the last thing
[877]
I want to talk about with the turnover
[878]
pass is just something that you can keep
[880]
in mind when practicing it and when
[882]
performing it something a little bit
[883]
differently and it's something that I do
[885]
all the time instead of spreading the
[887]
cards and having them name a card that
[888]
they see so you see that card is in the
[890]
middle and then perform the turnover
[892]
pass another thing you can do is have
[894]
them name a card off the top of their
[895]
head and without going through the deck
[898]
I mean without showing them really you
[899]
go through the deck find the card do the
[901]
turnover pass place it on the table this
[903]
way it feels more like they just named
[906]
the card and the selection process
[907]
wasn't there they didn't see the card or
[909]
whatever and you could take that a lot
[911]
further so one of the things I do is
[913]
have them name a card secretly find it
[916]
by spreading to the pack and saying you
[917]
know something like oh I don't know if
[918]
it's here which one did you say find it
[921]
do the turnover pass place it on the
[923]
table and I palm it off right away and I
[924]
go it's funny because I don't I don't
[926]
think it's in there before I started
[928]
this this before I took out the deck I
[930]
left one card in my back pocket just so
[933]
happens to be and you pull out the card
[935]
okay so just one extra tip that you can
[937]
do using the turnover pass because it is
[940]
all invisible it really looks like
[942]
nothing is done they name a card and it
[945]
ends up in your pocket or whatever you
[946]
want
[947]
okay alright guys so there you have it
[949]
that was a turnover pass like I said
[950]
this is my favorite control of all time
[952]
so thank you for letting me share that
[953]
with you and if you did like it please
[955]
subscribe to this channel if you haven't
[958]
already hit that like button share it
[959]
with your friends do whatever you can to
[961]
get this channel out there hopefully so
[963]
we could all learn card magic and
[964]
sleight of hand better and then there'll
[967]
be less bad magic around you know so I
[969]
think that's important thanks a lot guys
[970]
I will see you next time
