[9]

[14]

[18]

[23]
so let's get started job number six: associate聽 consultant at a management consulting firm聽聽
[29]
according to Victor Chang associate consultants聽 make $100,000 straight out of college that's聽聽
[35]
broken down by an eighty five thousand dollar聽 salary and a fifteen thousand dollar bonus聽聽
[39]
consulting is a vague term and a lot of people聽 use it and a lot of people can be consultants聽聽
[43]
but the specific type of consulting that I'm聽 talking about is management consulting and to聽聽
[48]
give you a quick definition management consultants聽 analyze and offer solutions to complex business聽聽
[53]
problems so for example let's say there's a coffee聽 company who has done explosively well and they're聽聽
[60]
looking to expand to international markets they聽 don't have that experience they hire consultants聽聽
[65]
who helped a ton of other clients from a ton of聽 different industries expand into international聽聽
[69]
markets so that's their specialty that's kind of a聽 difference in the nuance of management consulting聽聽
[73]
although they don't know that the specifics聽 of your business they'll know how to help you聽聽
[77]
solve problems that you are not used to that they聽 have solved for many other clients now day-to-day聽聽
[82]
responsibility is typically ranged from doing聽 research analyzing data and ultimately presenting聽聽
[88]
your findings to your clients so that you can聽 better help them with the specific solution or聽聽
[92]
the specific problem that they hired you for聽 now although that sounds really cool there are聽聽
[97]
some few key drawbacks that you should take into聽 consideration one you're working 60 hours a week聽聽
[101]
on average and a bigger consulting firm 2 you're聽 managing a lot of high pressure situation between聽聽
[107]
managing deadlines of your boss and management聽 deadlines of your client and 3 you're living out聽聽
[111]
of a suitcase Monday through Thursday because聽 you're typically on client site which could be聽聽
[115]
another city or another state or sometimes even聽 another country cool so now we have job number聽聽
[121]
5 which is an investment banking analyst according聽 to Wall Street Oasis a typical entry-level analyst聽聽
[127]
at a bulge bracket bank will make a sum total of聽 a hundred thousand dollars that's broken down by聽聽
[132]
a $90,000 salary and a 40,000 year-end bonus聽 investment Baker's help clients raise capital聽聽
[138]
to fund various activities that help businesses聽 grow typical reasons to hire an investment banker聽聽
[144]
is usually when you go public as a company or聽 you're looking to acquire smaller companies聽聽
[148]
but you want to get if their opinion of what that聽 company is worth in terms of day-to-day activities聽聽
[153]
investment banking analysts are typically known聽 to do a lot of the grunt works that can range聽聽
[157]
from running financial models valuing the company聽 or making pitch books but the two big drawbacks聽聽
[163]
of investment banking or even working on average聽 about 80 to 100 hours a week do the math I just 14聽聽
[169]
hours a day if you're working seven days a week聽 flash and secondly naturally it's a super high聽聽
[177]
stress high paced environment but you'll learn聽 a ton you learn how to value companies you'll be聽聽
[182]
really good with Excel so if those are things that聽 you want to do this could be a career path for you聽聽
[186]
so now we're moving out of the client services聽 industry and we're moving into the tech scene聽聽
[190]
so all the compensation information that I'll be聽 getting is from levels FYI so check it out if you聽聽
[194]
want more info about tech compensation all right聽 job number four is product designers entry-level聽聽
[200]
product designers at big tech companies like聽 Facebook Amazon and Google make a hundred and聽聽
[204]
forty five thousand dollars straight out聽 of college it's crazy just gets bigger and聽聽
[209]
bigger also as an added bonus Glassdoor ranks聽 product designers as a top thirty fourth best聽聽
[214]
job in America as of 2020 now a quick description聽 about each type of product designer there are two聽聽
[219]
distinct types one is a UX designer which stands聽 for user experience and the other is UI which聽聽
[225]
stands for user interface to get confused a lot聽 but a good analogy that I've heard of that helps聽聽
[230]
distinguish the two different types of rules is聽 think about a UX designer as the person who's聽聽
[234]
responsible for how the car drives whereas the UI聽 designer is responsible for the look and feel of聽聽
[240]
the car in terms of day-to-day responsibilities聽 product designers are responsible for user聽聽
[244]
research specifically try to answer the questions聽 who are our users how do they use our product聽聽
[249]
and what are the biggest pain points that we can聽 solve and - they design a lot of different mocks聽聽
[254]
so sample designs of what the could look like聽 and then three they work with cross-functional聽聽
[259]
partners so that the designs that they've made are聽 actually implemented into the product if you're聽聽
[263]
interested in design you like human behavior and聽 you want to be in the tech industry this could be聽聽
[267]
a really good fit for you so now we're moving on聽 to job number three product managers entry-level聽聽
[272]
product managers a big tech companies can expect聽 to make a hundred and sixty five thousand dollars聽聽
[277]
straight out of college as an added bonus they are聽 ranked as the fourth best job in America according聽聽
[282]
to class door and in terms of what these guys聽 actually do they're kind of like the mini CEOs聽聽
[286]
of the respective product they collaborate with聽 the team and brainstorm different product ideas聽聽
[290]
they set a product roadmap set milestones to make聽 sure that the team stays on track so ultimately聽聽
[295]
they're responsible for getting the team from聽 ideation to execution quick plug I'm actually a聽聽
[301]
product manager at Facebook specifically in rpm聽 and if you're interested in my journey and how聽聽
[305]
I became a product manager without any prior聽 product experience at Facebook check out the聽聽
[310]
link below now moving on to number two we have聽 data scientists entry level data scientists at聽聽
[316]
big tech companies can make upwards of a hundred聽 and seventy thousand dollars also they're ranked聽聽
[321]
as the third best job in America according to聽 Glassdoor and they've been in the top three for聽聽
[325]
the past like three or four years they're doing聽 really well in terms of what data scientists聽聽
[329]
do data scientists analyze and interpret data聽 to ultimately allow businesses to make better聽聽
[334]
data-driven decisions now on a typical day data聽 scientists will inform the team of new insights聽聽
[340]
that they found run a beat test and sometimes even聽 coin new metrics for the team to measure against聽聽
[345]
and as businesses are migrating into the digital聽 world there will be more data available and more聽聽
[350]
demand for data scientists who help businesses聽 make better decisions all right and finally聽聽
[355]
moving on to the number one job we have front-end聽 engineers not only are they the highest-paid out聽聽
[362]
of college standing at about a hundred and eighty聽 thousand dollars in total compensation at big tech聽聽
[367]
companies they're also ranked at number one聽 on america's best jobs according to Glassdoor聽聽
[371]
front end engineers are effectively builders聽 specifically they code designs that the designers聽聽
[376]
make and hook it up to the back end to provide a聽 seamless experience for a user when using popular聽聽
[380]
apps like Instagram Facebook and YouTube you might聽 be asking yourself why do software engineers make聽聽
[386]
so much money it doesn't make and the answer聽 is simple supply and demand there's only so聽聽
[393]
many people graduating from four-year degrees聽 studying computer science who are going into聽聽
[397]
software engineering while the demand for these聽 software engineers are through the roof right聽聽
[402]
now as companies are continually migrating to the聽 Internet and need these people to make that happen聽聽
[407]
as a result companies are willing to pay a premium聽 for this specific type of talent and because聽聽
[413]
there's such a big shortage of software engineers聽 here comes the boot camps big boot camps like Hack聽聽
[419]
Reactor promised non-technical people who didn't聽 study computer science in college an opportunity聽聽
[424]
to become a software engineer and I actually聽 think they have a 98% employment rate after聽聽
[429]
they graduate the program so if you're in college聽 and want to be a software engineer look into your聽聽
[433]
colleges computer science majors but if you're out聽 of school consider going into a boot camp but make聽聽
[438]
sure it's something that's reliable that has a聽 successful track record like Hack Reactor oh my聽聽
[443]
gosh that was a lot but that's a wrap and if you聽 made it this far into this video here's a bonus聽聽
[447]
fun fact for you prior to technology consulting聽 and banking used to be the highest paying most聽聽
[453]
sought after jobs after college but now that聽 Tech is in the game people are getting paid more聽聽
[457]
and they're happier and they're more fulfilled at聽 their jobs so more and more people are moving over聽聽
[461]
to tech in fact if you look at Harvard Business聽 School's employment history I think about like 20%聽聽
[467]
of people are now going into tech they're all聽 about similar and tight now if you found this聽聽
