[42]
Hi guys, CA Rachana Ranade here and I welcome聽 you all to another lecture, which is about聽聽
[46]
my new year resolution for 2021. Let me guess聽 what your new year resolutions can be, um it聽聽
[52]
could be getting up at 6 am, it could be working聽 out every day, it could be eating healthy food.聽聽
[59]
Well, I think none of them is going to go long for聽 more than two or three days. So let me give you聽聽
[63]
simpler options. You can either subscribe to my聽 channel, or at least just hit the like button. So,聽聽
[70]
my new year resolution for 2021 took a specific聽 shape, when I checked out my channel statistics.聽聽
[76]
If you can see here, the female subscribers are聽 barely 12 and a half percent. That's even a little聽聽
[81]
bit less than that. So, I thought why not have聽 a specific goal, a specific focus of increasing聽聽
[87]
the financial literacy amongst women, and I feel聽 my resolution can be met with your support. So,聽聽
[93]
please show my videos to your female friends,聽 who will then start their journey of financial聽聽
[98]
education, right. So, today what we are going to聽 learn in this video is that we are going to kick聽聽
[103]
start our 2021 year just two three days before it聽 actually starts, by understanding, three golden聽聽
[110]
rules, of how you can start your savings journey,聽 and in turn start your investment journey.
[116]
So let's start with our first golden聽 rule, the first golden rule is to go聽聽
[121]
through a friendship test. Now you might聽 be wondering what is this friendship test.聽聽
[125]
Let me give you a simple example. It might聽 be possible that many of your friends聽聽
[129]
love to go to exotic outings or they聽 always love to go to big budget hotels.聽聽
[134]
It might be possible that for you these big budget聽 hotels, might not suit your pocket every single聽聽
[140]
time, and sometimes it feels really awkward for聽 you to tell them that okay I can't afford that.聽聽
[146]
Do you really need to feel awkward, no it聽 is absolutely okay to tell them that I might聽聽
[152]
not be able to come to this hotel today,聽 because it is not in my plan right now.聽聽
[158]
Tell them clearly what your plan is. Let's say聽 your plan is to save 10 000 by the end of this聽聽
[162]
year. This is special especially for teenagers or聽 those who are in their early 20s. Let's say your聽聽
[167]
plan is to save 10 000. Let's say your plan is to聽 have your very first investment in stock market聽聽
[172]
and that's the reason why you're saving. Tell them聽 your goal, if they are able to understand, then聽聽
[177]
only they are your true friends. If not, you know聽 who to stay with whom not to stay with, right.聽聽
[183]
Let's see after one year on first of January 2022聽 you show them your demat account. You show them聽聽
[190]
that, look I had sacrificed something, to earn聽 something. They will really feel proud of you.聽聽
[197]
Just ask yourself is it okay if you don't have聽 one or two more pictures on Instagram at some聽聽
[202]
exotic locations? It's absolutely okay guys. Just聽 remember one thing, it's always better to be rich,聽聽
[209]
rather than just look rich. Golden rule number聽 two is to undergo a binge shopping test.聽聽
[217]
Now what is this? I鈥檒l tell you quickly. I know聽 many of my female friends who say that Rachana,聽聽
[223]
today we went shopping. We were feeling very聽 low you know, but when we had two bags full聽聽
[227]
of shopping material, that's where we felt聽 that yes, now I鈥檓 in a happy state of mind.聽聽
[233]
When I actually hear them say all these things,聽 I really try to wonder, okay, understood that it聽聽
[239]
is apparently said that when you shop some happy聽 hormone is released and you feel better, agreed,聽聽
[244]
but then is there some other way where you can聽 actually cut down on these expenses and still feel聽聽
[250]
better. So to take a specific reference of this, I聽 had read a book on habits. When it mentions that a聽聽
[257]
human habit is is went through or undergoes three聽 typical points. What are the three typical points?聽聽
[262]
Number one, there is a trigger. Number two, there聽 is a routine, and number three there is a reward,聽聽
[268]
okay. So let's understand this, number聽 one what was the trigger? Trigger was that聽聽
[271]
my friend was feeling very low and then she聽 said that to have a reward of feeling happy聽聽
[277]
I should have a routine of shopping, okay. So now聽 let's understand, we have to keep that reward,聽聽
[284]
which will be same. Reward should be that you聽 should feel happy, that should be your reward.聽聽
[288]
What is the trigger? Trigger is that you聽 are feeling low. What needs to be changed?聽聽
[292]
That routine needs to be changed.聽 Right now what is your routine?聽聽
[296]
You go do shopping the moment you are feeling聽 low. Now let's try to have alternate options for聽聽
[300]
that. Try to call up your friends whom we have聽 not talked for like, let's say past one month聽聽
[305]
and see if you feel better. Possibility number聽 two, what I do is I just take out my car, I listen聽聽
[311]
to my favorite music, I go out for a ride. I come聽 back like after half an hour, I feel very happy.聽聽
[317]
Try out to play a sport and see if you can feel聽 happy. So try out these alternate routines.聽聽
[323]
So as I mentioned, let the trigger be same.聽 Let the reward be same. Change the routine.聽聽
[328]
That's where you can save more and spend less.聽 Golden rule number three is the cost per use test.聽聽
[338]
Now you might be wondering what tests Rachana is聽 coming up with today. These are interesting tests聽聽
[342]
guys, listen to me. This is a story about me which聽 happened almost three four years ago, when I had聽聽
[348]
decided to go to Europe for a tour, okay. When聽 I was searching on the internet, I came across聽聽
[354]
lovely pictures of Europe uh many many exotic聽 locations, Switzerland So whatever, okay, and then聽聽
[361]
I thought that oh my god I need to have an amazing聽 camera and guess what I got... say cheese...
[371]
Well, but when I got this camera this camera cost聽 me roughly 50000 rupees. I might have used this聽聽
[379]
camera for like uh three times till date and I I聽 don't remember last time when I actually used it.聽聽
[386]
So, now you can imagine this, 50000 rupees camera,聽 I鈥檝e used it three times. I鈥檓 not sure when I鈥檓聽聽
[391]
going to use it after today. So, this is like聽 17000 rupees cost per use. Isn't that crazy?聽聽
[401]
Now, when I look back, I feel that聽 had I brought a good camera on rent聽聽
[405]
it could have cost me just two or three thousand聽 rupees, right. So, it's very very important for聽聽
[410]
you to understand, that before you go on shopping,聽 to buy some very expensive products, try to check聽聽
[416]
how many times are you going to really use it.聽 So that you can definitely save on a good amount聽聽
[421]
of spending. Guys I want you all to write in the聽 comment section about at least one thing which is聽聽
[426]
very similar to what wrong decision I have taken.聽 Let me know in the comment section I would be聽聽
[431]
really happy to read about all these things. Oops!聽 wait, let me also give you a very important bonus聽聽
[441]
tip. In the entire video we talked about how to聽 save, let's understand how and how much to invest.聽聽
[447]
So let's take a simple scenario, for this assume聽 it's your birthday party and you have invited a聽聽
[452]
few friends and you go out to eat domino's pizza,聽 okay. Assume that you are eight or ten friends and聽聽
[459]
easily the minimum bill that you're going to shell聽 out money for is going to be 2500 rupees easily.聽聽
[465]
So, now what you have done, you have splurged聽 2500, it's okay, I鈥檓 not saying that you should聽聽
[470]
not save even spend even one rupee at a聽 hotel. It's okay, it's okay to spend also,聽聽
[473]
but then make it a point that whatever聽 you're splurging, whatever you're spending,聽聽
[478]
that amount, at least minimum that much聽 of amount, should go in your investments,聽聽
[482]
okay. So, just to give you an equivalent聽 example. Assume 2500 you spent on a pizza party,聽聽
[486]
why not invest 2500 in the same share which is聽 of jubilant food works, which is domino's pizza,聽聽
[492]
right. Just to give you a fun fact, had you taken聽 this same thought process 10 years ago, assume 10聽聽
[500]
years ago you alone went to a domino store and you聽 bought like one pizza for 250 rupees. At that time聽聽
[505]
domino's share was around 250 rupees. 250 rupee聽 share 10 years ago, today the share is at 2500聽聽
[513]
rupees. That small cake or that small size of聽 domino's pizza would have been 10 times bigger,聽聽
[520]
okay. So, have that same thought process. Assume聽 you invest 2500 today, it can happen that it grows聽聽
[528]
may not be 10 per 10 times after 10 years, at聽 least five times after after 10 years, that's聽聽
[533]
possible. So make it a point that you invest an聽 equivalent amount of how much you are spending.聽聽
[542]
A small request, please share this video聽 with your better halves or with your kids聽聽
[548]
or with your family friends, especially聽 with those who are in their teen ages聽聽
[552]
or maybe in their early twenties. Help them to聽 understand some basic golden rules of saving.聽聽
[558]
Help them understand how they can start聽 their investment journey, by saving small,聽聽
[562]
by investing small, but dreaming big.聽 That's how you can help me to achieve聽聽
[567]
my new year resolution for 2021. Till then聽 take care bye bye and also Happy New Year
