Hi everybody this is Krista so today I'm going聽
to show you how to make this hat here it's got聽聽

the red a brim that folds up the nice edging聽
on it and it pom-pom on top which of course聽聽

you can leave off if you want now this hat is聽
really easy to make it's just made with simply a聽聽

single crochet and double crochet done in the back聽
loop now it's made if you look on the inside you聽聽

can see where the where it was slip stitched聽
up so it's made in one rectangle and then we聽聽

slip stitch it up the side like this and then we聽
gather the top at the end gather it up close and聽聽

shut the top and then add a pom-pom if you want聽
and fold up your hat but it's not hard at all so聽聽

let's go ahead and get started on this okay for聽
this project I am using a red heart Super Saver聽聽

stripes it is a 100% medium weight number four聽
acrylic yarn on Amberson acrylic now you don't聽聽

have to use this yarn any a medium weight for聽
yarn will work the color I am using is called聽聽

Sutherland striped and there are 236 yards in聽
the skein and one will be enough to complete聽聽

the Hat and then I'm going to be using a size J聽
which is a six millimeter crochet hook alright聽聽

you want to start off with the chain of 41 now聽
once you get your chain of 41 done you want to聽聽

do a single crochet in the second stitch from聽
the hook now remember we do not count the one聽聽

that's on our hook so in the second stitch聽
we're gonna do a single crochet and then I'm聽聽

gonna then I'm going to do one single crochet聽
in every stitch for the length of the chain

so like that okay so if you need to add a聽聽

little bit more or take out a little bit less聽
in case you crochet tighter or looser the meet聽聽

that's fine just make sure it's right around聽
22 inches after it's stretched but I did the聽聽

42 rows and you want to end in a row of double聽
crochet so now what we're gonna do is seam it up聽聽

so you see here where the double crochets are聽
facing the right side up this is the front of聽聽

your work so you want to we're going to sew it聽
up backwards so what we're going to do is just聽聽

flip it in half like that so this is the wrong聽
side of course if you want this to be the right聽聽

side that's fine whatever you want but this聽
is the side that's going to be on the inside聽聽

of the Hat we're gonna seam it up like this so聽
and then we'll flip it right side out and that聽聽

way the seam won't show so all we're gonna do聽
is slip stitch it together so we're gonna go聽聽

both loops now so we're gonna go through both聽

rest of the Hat yep so you can see the seam is聽聽

I really can't ask for much better than that so聽
now we're gonna sew just kind of gather the top聽聽

up and sew it up so you want to get your yarn聽
needle in a piece of yarn in my yarns piece is聽聽

probably like five foot long it's better to have聽
too much than not enough so what I'm gonna do is聽聽

this go back and forth across the top leave a tail聽
here that we can sew in later and then we'll what聽聽

we'll do is we'll pull it all together later I'm聽
kind of just going out there into the stitch there

you see how I'm going I'm not really going in I'm聽

hole there I'm gonna do this all the way around聽

here and then we'll kind of pull it together and聽
it should close it up and then stick a pompom on聽聽

I'm just gonna continue going all the way around聽

here now I wanted to do is take my tail and I'm聽
gonna slowly kind of just gather up my top you聽聽

can pull your other tail that you started with聽

with you can just pull them until the Hat gets聽
as tight closed as possible and then won't sew聽聽

you can get it pretty tired with doing this

this extra tail because I definitely聽聽

you just want to take it at the top keep聽聽

these tails and then you can hide any remaining聽

a pom pom you can now there's many different ways聽聽

to add pom poms I bought these pom-poms I think聽
I said Amazon in the beginning and these have a聽聽

loop on him some have buttons some some of them聽
have loops I prefer the ones with the elastic聽聽

loop now you can't sew it on real tight to where聽
it's not gonna come off some people hot glue them聽聽

on which I had done before or you can I'll show聽
you what I'll do with this one this way it can聽聽

be removable in case you want to wash your hat聽
just take a piece of yarn and a yarn needle and聽聽

go through the loop and through where you want聽
to put your at the top of the hat there pull it聽聽

out anyone do the other one the same way in the聽
same spot and you basically just kind of knot聽聽

it on or tie it from the inside and that way you聽
can untie it whenever you want to wash your hat聽聽

that's what I'm going to do this time but if you聽
want something more permanent I suggest hot glue聽聽

or sewing it on with regular thread and needle聽
but this way you can just put some knots in it聽聽

real tight and then leave the strands hanging and聽
then if you want to wash your hat you could just聽聽

clip the pom-pom off wash your hat and then do聽
this to put the pom pom pom pom back on that's聽聽

it that's how I'm gonna add that pom one that's聽
it another hat is vanished I think it turned out聽聽
