BREAKING - BIG STEP FORWARD for $3.5 Trillion Stimulus (What Happens NEXT) - YouTube

[0]
Hello everyone, and welcome to this important episode of Ignition Time.
[3]
Let's jump right into the news.
[5]
The House has now advanced the
[8]
$3.5 trillion reconciliation package, and there was a stalemate, if you will,
[13]
between House Speaker Pelosi and centrist, which has now ended.
[16]
You'll see this headline on your screen from Politico.
[19]
All House Democrats indeed voted in favor of the spending bill framework after
[23]
Speaker Nancy Pelosi clinched a deal with defiant House Democrats.
[27]
Folks, let me give you the big picture here.
[29]
This was always destined to pass the House
[32]
because of the majority of Democrats in the House.
[35]
Even though it's a razor thin majority, House Speaker Pelosi
[37]
could not afford to lose more than three Democrats.
[39]
She ended up getting them all on her side.
[42]
But now things move over to the Senate
[44]
because in the Senate, the conservative Democrat
[47]
from West Virginia, Joe Manchin, needs to vote in favor of this.
[50]
The Independent from Vermont, Angus King, needs to vote in favor of this.
[53]
Senator Kyrsten Sinema,
[55]
the Democrat from Arizona needs to vote in favor of this, and I believe they will.
[59]
And if they don't, they're probably going
[61]
to get a call from the President of the United States, Joe Biden.
[63]
So this is likely to pass the Senate.
[65]
And if there's a tie breaker,
[67]
which it's likely to be because there'll be 50 votes in favor of the
[71]
$3.5 trillion budget reconciliation, if there's a need for a tie breaker,
[74]
then the Vice President of the United States,
[76]
Vice President Kamala Harris, will cast a tie breaking vote.
[79]
So the House vote clears the way for Democrats to actually pursue a massive
[83]
package that could pass both Chambers without Republican support.
[88]
And it sets a vote on the 27 September on the Senate pass infrastructure bill.
[94]
Remember that's a $1 trillion infrastructure plan.
[97]
So all the Democrats,
[98]
including the roughly dozen Democrats who threatened to tank the party line
[102]
spending plan, the $3.5 trillion plan actually voted in favor.
[106]
And this is a show of party unity
[108]
for the Democrats that the Democrats were desperately looking for.
[112]
Now, this agreement was actually struck
[114]
between House Speaker Pelosi and the group of centrist Democrats that were led
[118]
by Congressman Josh Gottheimer, the Democrat from New Jersey.
[121]
Following many, many hours of negotiations that went late into the night on Monday.
[127]
House Speaker Pelosi actually outlined the details of the compromise
[131]
in a statement that was released during the vote.
[133]
And she actually thanked Gottheimer and his group for
[136]
"their enthusiastic support for the infrastructure bill."
[139]
Here's what she said in the letter,
[141]
I am committed to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill by the 27th September.
[146]
I do so with a commitment to rally House Democratic support for its passage.
[151]
We must keep the 51 vote privilege by passing the budget and work
[154]
with the House and Senate Democrats to reach agreement in order for the House
[158]
to vote on a build back better act that will pass the Senate.
[161]
Now, this compromise is a significant
[163]
victory for Josh Gottheimer, the Democrat from New Jersey,
[167]
for Congressman Henry Cuellar, who's a Democrat from Texas,
[170]
and Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, who's a Democrat from the state
[174]
of Florida, and many other centrist who have been telling the leadership
[178]
for weeks that they would vote against the budget resolution unless
[182]
House Speaker Pelosi actually made sure that the Senate passed
[186]
infrastructure bill would be voted for immediately in the House.
[188]
So it looks like they got what they wanted.
[191]
But in a way, House Speaker Pelosi also got what she wanted.
[195]
So this is what the moderate Democrats said in a statement.
[198]
This is a big win for America and will
[200]
help get people to work and shovels in the ground.
[202]
We have established a path forward that ensures we can pass this once
[206]
in a lifetime infrastructure investment by the 27 September, allowing us to create
[211]
millions of jobs and bring our nation into the 21st century.
[216]
So this is very interesting, folks.
[217]
You can see that the Democrats who are
[220]
arguing internally essentially have come to an agreement.
[223]
Basically, these moderate Democrats wanted a commitment from House Speaker Pelosi
[227]
and the entire leadership team within the House Democrats that they would
[231]
take part in extensive negotiations with Senate moderates, particularly
[235]
Joe Mansion and Kristin Cinema, who I mentioned earlier before putting
[239]
that three $5 trillion bill on the floor of the Senate.
[243]
They were actually concerned that a bill
[244]
that passed the House would simply go ignored inside the United States Senate.
[249]
He was a very interesting comment
[251]
from Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, the Democrat from Minnesota.
[254]
You know, the whole thing was a fiasco.
[256]
To be honest, I really don't know why they try to get into something without having
[259]
an actual goal that they wanted to accomplish.
[262]
It seems like amateur AB.
[264]
So many Progressives initially were quiet,
[267]
but many prominent Progressives said that this was very, very irritating.
[271]
Here's a quote
[272]
from House Democrat Caucus Chairman Hakim Jeffreys, who's a Democrat from New York.
[276]
He said, this democracy is messy and Democrats are not a cult.
[280]
We are a coalition. We are a big family.
[282]
We are a diverse family.
[283]
At times, we are a very enthusiastic family.
[286]
But that is the House of Representatives.
[288]
In fact, why don't we hear from Congressman Hakeem Jeffries again,
[292]
the Democrat from New York, who's a Democrat caucus chairman.
[295]
Let's roll the tape in her
[296]
from Congressman Hakeem Jeffries and see exactly what he had to say.
[300]
Let's watch. The Democrats
[303]
are not a cult. We're a coalition.
[305]
And when you're a coalition
[309]
of progressive and new Dems and blue dogs of people on the left
[315]
and on the center left and in the center of the Congressional Black Caucus
[320]
and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Asian and Pacific Islander Caucus
[323]
and the Women's Caucus and the Equality Caucus.
[326]
We're proud of the fact that we actually
[329]
reflect the gorgeous mosaic of the American people and every possible way.
[334]
And so, folks, this is a big, big, big development.
[336]
Here's another headline on your screen this time from CNN.
[339]
House approved three $5 trillion budget
[342]
plan in a key step for Democrats to pass legislation expanding social safety nets.
[348]
So in short, folks,
[349]
the House vote came after painstaking negotiations between the Democrats
[353]
and a group of moderates that yielded a compromise that will I won't say good,
[359]
but will lead to the passage of the three $5 trillion stimulus package in both
[364]
the House, which has already happened and the Senate.
[367]
There was a lot of gridlock about this
[370]
in the past 48 hours, but we are now past that point.
[373]
Here's another headline on your screen this time from Bloomberg.
[376]
Pelosi Strikes Deal with Moderates on Biden economic agenda.
[380]
This agreement is actually advancing
[382]
the three $5 trillion budget resolution, and the separate $1 trillion bipartisan
[388]
infrastructure bill is teed up for a later vote.
[390]
What does all of this mean, folks?
[391]
Let me break it down for you and keep it really simple for you.
[394]
This means we will see the passage of the $1 trillion bipartisan
[399]
infrastructure bill from the Senate past the House.
[401]
We will see that happen before the 27 September.
[405]
This also means that the three $5 trillion
[408]
budget resolution, which essentially is a way of saying, hey,
[412]
let's set aside three $5 trillion for what the Democrats want to do.
[415]
That is going to definitely pass the House
[418]
and is definitely going to pass the Senate once the Hawaii House.
[424]
Once House Speaker Pelosi gets the support
[426]
of Joe Mansion and Christian Cinema, which I believe is going to happen,
[431]
I do believe Joe Mansion and Christian Cinema will support this.
[434]
There may have to be some scaling back of the three $5 trillion proposal,
[439]
but I don't think that two senators, one from West Virginia and one
[443]
from Arizona, are going to sabotage a three $5 trillion infrastructure plan,
[447]
which is going to be crucial for the country,
[450]
and it's going to be crucial for the Democrats in the midterms in 2022
[454]
and crucial for the reelection of President Joe Biden.
[458]
This is a political game as well as an economic victory for the country.
[463]
Remember, at the end of the day, politics is about timing, about opportunity.
[467]
It's about tribalism us against them.
[469]
And it is about perception.
[471]
Democrats want to create the perception that they were the ones who move
[474]
the country forward with an ambitious infrastructure plan.
[477]
And Republicans will say, hey,
[479]
we were the ones who helped pass the $1 trillion infrastructure plan.
[483]
And the Democrats will say, no, no, no, no, no.
[485]
That was not enough.
[486]
We simply needed to do more and we got it
[489]
done, not the Republicans, but we the Democrats got it done.
