And who are Pixel Vault?

They are a business that builds intellectual聽
property around NFT assets. So far,聽聽

they鈥檝e created two interrelated projects鈥擯unks
Comic and Metahero Universe鈥攖hat merge comics,聽聽

heroes, NFTs, DeFi, DAOs, gaming, and the聽
metaverse into one mind-blowing world.

I know, I know, that is a lot to process.聽
But we鈥檙e going to break it all down for you.

The Pixel Vault journey starts with the collection聽
of 16 CryptoPunks. Being one of the first聽聽

generative Non-Fungible Token collections鈥攚here聽
traits are generated through code鈥攖hese聽聽

pixel-art collectibles are some of the most聽
valuable NFTs on the market. Pixel Vault聽聽
[60]
brought 16 avatars to life as characters in a聽
comic book NFT, each with their own backstory.

We got in touch with Pixel Vault鈥檚 founder,聽
GFunk, to learn more about the project.

I was hanging out a lot in the CryptoPunks discord聽
and I started to see that people were developing聽聽

these personas behind these avatars and I thought,聽
okay let's take this to the next level, myself聽聽

coming from a background in the entertainment聽
space. Let's try to develop real stories behind聽聽

these NFT assets that can drive value in a way聽
that people become connected to the characters聽聽

much more deeply than they would just an NFT聽
otherwise sitting in their wallet doing nothing.

Punks Comic was launched in May 2021,聽
with its Issue 1 NFT minting for 0.2 ETH,聽聽
[105]
which was around $720 at the time. It took聽
over a month for all 10,000 to sell out.聽聽

But once people realized the value聽
behind these NFTs, the price shot up.

And what value does the comic NFT have?聽聽

Artwork, innovation, and storyline aside,聽
Pixel Vault fractionalized the 16 Cryptopunks聽聽
[126]
into 100 million Punks Tokens, valued at over聽
1,200 ETH, to distribute to its NFT holders.

So I would say the Punks Token is designed to give聽
you exposure to what would otherwise be a very聽聽
[139]
inaccessible collection in the crypto punks with聽
the floor, obviously now over a hundred ETH, most聽聽
[144]
people can't participate in that sort of legendary聽
product. Also, we have this unique aspect where聽聽
[150]
we're building IP on those characters. So the聽
thought is as that IP becomes more successful,聽聽
[155]
potentially that will imbue value onto聽
that original collection of CryptoPunks.

And at inception, Pixel Vault鈥檚 Founder DAO,聽
also held other rare NFTs valued at over 600 ETH.

The treasury of NFTs meant that from day one,聽
the project had value from its underlying assets,聽聽

rather than just a roadmap, which in聽
many cases, never comes to fruition.

And what happens with the聽
fractionalized Punks Tokens?聽聽

Half of them will be distributed to Issue 1聽
holders, if they choose to stake their NFTs.

Game theory is laced into every聽
one of Pixel Vault鈥檚 projects.聽聽

You鈥檙e required to make strategic聽
decisions about what to do with your NFTs,聽聽

where your outcome is impacted聽
by the actions of others.

And this is where it gets really interesting.

The first decision you鈥檙e presented with is this.聽聽

Do you hold onto your Issue 1 NFT and stake it聽
to receive a share of 50% of the Punks Tokens,聽聽

and fractional ownership of the 16 CryptoPunks? Or聽
do you burn your Issue 1 NFT for a Founder鈥檚 DAO聽聽

NFT? With this, you鈥檒l get proportional governance聽
rights over the Pixel Vault Founder鈥檚 DAO,聽聽

which holds and continues to purchase rare聽
NFTs, and receives 25% of the PUNKS tokens.

One thing that makes Pixel Vault and our projects聽
very unique versus every other project out there聽聽

in the NFT space is that at the end of the day,聽
your collection will very much be a result of聽聽

the decisions you yourself make. So, you know, are聽
you somebody that's very risk averse? Or are you聽聽

somebody that perhaps embraces risk and you want聽
to roll the dice? It's very much a reflection of聽聽

you as an individual and a collector. And I聽
think it keeps our community very engaged.

Now if that isn鈥檛 groundbreaking enough,聽
let鈥檚 introduce Metahero Universe.

It is a community-owned and governed social and聽
gaming Metaverse being developed by Pixel Vault.

Metahero Universe is comprised of nine planets聽
and one moon. These planets are home to hero,聽聽

villain, and mutant MetaHero Identity NFTs;聽
comprised of 146 Core Identities鈥攚hich聽聽

will be featured in Punks Comic Issue 3聽
and beyond鈥攁nd 9,678 Generative Identities,聽聽

programmatically generated based on聽
the features of these core characters.

So, what鈥檚 so great about these MetaHeroes?聽聽

Well these NFTs aren鈥檛 your standard聽
run-of-the-mill profile pictures.

Each of these NFT Identities will have聽
embedded traits that will carry over to 3D聽聽

full-body characters for future聽
gameplay. And in the future,聽聽
[316]
each MetaHero character can be staked for the Pow聽
Token, the in-game currency of MetaHero Universe.

So how can you get involved?

For a long time, most people were priced out聽
from participating in Pixel Vault鈥檚 projects.

But on September 30, Pixel Vault聽
launched its Planetary DAO sale,聽聽
[336]
opening its project to the public for the first聽
time since Issue 1 sold out in June. It鈥檚 an聽聽
[342]
opportunity for newcomers to join the community聽
and acquire a piece of the Metahero Universe,聽聽
[348]
by purchasing a Planetary DAO token, which聽
gives you proportional ownership of the planet.聽聽
[353]
And collectively, the planets will govern聽
the development of the MetaHero Universe.

Each planet will have its own聽
unique interactive environment.聽聽

And will provide revenue opportunities to聽
the DAO token holders through land sales,聽聽

environmental resources,聽
wearables, gameplay, and more.

With the planetary DAO tokens ranging聽
from 0.5 ethereum up to 5 ethereum,聽聽

it鈥檚 a much more affordable entry point into聽
the Pixel Vault ecosystem. The price difference聽聽

factors in the gaming development schedule, which聽
will occur in order of proximity to the sun.

And true to Pixel Vault鈥檚 ethos of聽
creating value for early supporters,聽聽

all Planetary DAO tokens come with a Mintpass聽
#2 which can be used to claim a Sidekick NFT,聽聽

and the first 23,336 planet tokens minted will聽
be able to claim an additional Jupiter token,聽聽

which also provides an additional sidekick,聽
if held at the time of the snapshot.

But you鈥檒l need to be quick. The Planetary聽
DAO token sale will be paused on October 31st.

So once the planet tokens go on pause, ultimately聽
the decision to begin minting those again, will聽聽

be in the hands of the people, a decision based聽
on the vote of each individual planetary DAO,聽聽

and also the UPDAO, which is sort of the聽
collective governing body. But if you don't聽聽

get to participate in the planets, we will聽
be coming out with punks comic issue two聽聽

sometime in November. So, people will have another聽
opportunity to get in at a low price point.

Pixel Vault has already raised over $30聽
million to commence the development of its聽聽

AAA MetaHero Universe game, without聽
the help of Venture Capital investment.聽

They鈥檝e been approached by聽
many VC funds, including a16z,聽聽

but turned them down to keep the game in the聽
hands of the community rather than its investors.

We asked The Virtunaut about the聽
vision for the MetaHero Universe game.

The vision is pretty big. Like, you know, we聽
started off like hey, let's build this really聽聽
[475]
expansive world that spans across these聽
10 different planets or celestial bodies.

So yeah, the idea is to you know,聽
start with like a, you know, three to聽聽
[485]
six players on a team objective-based arena聽
shooter. And then, once the core game plan聽聽
[491]
mechanics are solid and feel great, we聽
can build out the rest of our vision聽聽
[495]
from there, while also at the same time getting聽
a bunch of feedback from the community. Because聽聽
[499]
again, the idea is that all of the聽
DAOs will have say in what gets built.

So what else can we expect from Pixel Vault?

Their goal is to create intellectual property聽聽
[507]
around these NFT projects so they聽
can evolve beyond the crypto world.

In October, top entertainment talent聽
agency WME signed Pixel Vault,聽聽
[516]
with plans to help them venture into other聽
mediums like TV, film, podcasting, and gaming.聽聽

With WME鈥檚 parent company, Endeavor,聽
having invested in huge names like聽聽

Epic Games, its networks are expected聽
to be a boon to Pixel Vault鈥檚 growth.

So first off it'll be very useful as we develop聽
the game, but also, you know, as I try to build聽聽
[539]
out the IP in the ways of animated series,聽
feature film, YouTube, Twitch. And then obviously,聽聽
[546]
you know, building out the comic itself through聽
their books department. They'll be able to open聽聽
[550]
doors in basically every facet of the business聽
and provide a lot of legitimacy to the project.

I don鈥檛 know about you guys, but we聽
can鈥檛 wait to see how Punks Comic聽聽

and the Metahero Universe will continue to evolve.
