The Truth About Buying a Fiat 500 Car - YouTube

Channel: Scotty Kilmer

[0]
rev up your engines, Asti 32003 says Scotty what
[6]
do you think of it getting used Fiat
[8]
2013 500 Abarth with low mileage is a
[11]
secondary fun car
[12]
I know FCA products of lousy reliability
[15]
that's the truth
[16]
well here's the thing they're cute
[17]
little cars to fiddle around with, you
[19]
know they got they don't have the stupid
[21]
Fiat engine they got the Alfa Romeo and
[23]
you which is a better made engine but
[25]
it's Italian technology too, if you can
[27]
get it cheap enough for a toy why not
[29]
they have no resale value believe me so
[32]
if you can pick one up for 2,3,4 grand and
[35]
you want to get around with it go ahead
[36]
it could be a fun toy you know if it
[38]
really is low mileage what the heck just
[40]
don't drive it every day you know it
[42]
could be a fun little toy and take
[43]
advantage of some fool buying a new one
[45]
if you can get it cheap enough go ahead
[47]
and buy it, there's nothing wrong with
[48]
that just don't drive it every day and
[50]
if it's the secondary fun car why not
[52]
Nelson Rodriguez says Scotty I got a 95
[54]
Chevy Blazer with 80,000 miles it is a good
[57]
purchase okay it depends what you paid
[59]
I'm not a GM fan but back in 1995 they
[62]
were building better they were stronger
[64]
transmissions were better and if it's
[66]
in good shape you didn't pay much for it
[68]
it can still last a long time just
[70]
realize course it's a 95 so what are you
[72]
talking about you talking about a 24
[74]
year old vehicle, generally with 24 year
[76]
old vehicle something's gonna go wrong
[78]
and you're gonna have to repair stuff so
[80]
you know if you didn't pay that much it
[82]
could still last a long time if it
[84]
really only has 80,000 miles you know a
[86]
lot of guys go to a junkyard they'll
[88]
just buy a used dash for 50 bucks that has
[91]
lower mileage and throw it in so you
[93]
don't know you'd want some proof that it
[95]
really only had that much mileage on it
[97]
next year says please help me mr. Scotty
[99]
I have a 98 proton Saga Ishwara
[102]
are red coolants better than green coolants
[104]
okay first thing you gotta realize the
[106]
color of your coolant is just a dye, they
[109]
don't have any color it's a dye that
[111]
gives them a certain color and they can
[113]
dye them any color they want now
[114]
classically when I was young in the 60s
[117]
all they had was green coolant and it
[120]
was the old-fashioned coolant that
[122]
didn't last that long, you had to change
[125]
it every three years, it didn't work as
[127]
well but now there's long
[129]
coolants which you can put in any cars
[131]
and they can last seven years 150,000
[134]
miles
[135]
so if yours came with red that's
[137]
probably the long life coolant so when
[140]
you change it, you change it with the
[141]
same type of long life coolant they're
[144]
called oat organic acid technology and
[147]
the really good one are called
[148]
oats hOAT which is hybrid acid organic
[152]
technology and they last the longest and
[154]
as long as you flush out your old coolant
[156]
you can use any of the new ones the HOAT
[158]
is the best to cost a lot more and the
[160]
oats can still last for five years or a
[162]
hundred thousand miles, so the color
[164]
doesn't really mean anything it's the
[165]
type that it is, cuz it's just a dye
[167]
robert love dog says, good morning Scotty
[169]
I got a 1990 Ford Ranger put brand new tires
[171]
all the way around and brand new brakes
[173]
the tires are four years old do you
[175]
think it could be the tires cuz it
[177]
slides now okay, well you said you had
[180]
brand new tires all the way around now
[181]
you're saying there four years old now
[182]
well I'm assuming they're four years old
[183]
now, if it slides the only reason cars
[186]
generally slide is because the tires are
[188]
worn and if they're cheaper tires
[190]
they'll slide real fast I had that
[192]
problem with these cheap Korean tires
[194]
that came on my wife's matrix when I
[196]
bought it secondhand, they look great
[198]
they had 95% of the tread wear on them
[200]
but they were just cheap Korean tires
[203]
and they would slide because they didn't
[205]
grip right, they were actually too hard
[207]
too soft tires will wear out faster but
[211]
the grip better, well the opposite the
[213]
really cheap tires are too hard and then
[215]
they don't grip and they slide so odds are
[217]
it's the tires the only other way you can get
[219]
sliding is if your
[220]
suspension is so bad the alignment is bad
[222]
and the tires are sitting wrong cuz one
[224]
sides at an angle yeah it'll slide that
[226]
but normally it's the tires make them slide
[229]
Daniel Geraldo, says Scotty my tie rod is
[232]
broken should I fix it now or can I leave
[233]
it for a while, definitely you want to fix
[234]
it now, tie rods are what pull your tire in
[237]
and out when you're driving you dont want that and
[240]
watch my video on fixing a tie rod
[242]
anybody can put them on you can go to
[244]
autozone and get an aftermarket tie rod
[246]
for most cars for like 20 and 25 dollars
[249]
and they're solid metal they'r
[250]
well made the video shows you how you
[252]
can change it yourself and then if the
[254]
alignment isn't bad now, when you take it
[257]
off there's threaded rods you count the
[259]
threads and then when you screw the new
[261]
one in
[262]
screw it in the same threads and then if
[264]
it doesn't track right you take it to a
[266]
front-end shop and say look I put a tie
[267]
right on a line the front end and
[269]
they'll line the front end for you so
[271]
it's something you can easily do
[272]
yourself, don't chance it cuz if a tie
[274]
rod breaks off the wheel can just turn
[275]
on its own and you can be killed on the
[277]
highway, you don't want to go to broke a
[278]
tie rod for very long and you don't want,
[281]
I know this one guy he welded a tie rod
[283]
on once, you don't want to just try
[284]
welding them on, just get another one they
[286]
aren't that expensive, so if you never
[289]
want to miss another one of my new car
