welcome to medellin colombia in today's video i'm  going to be showing you guys what 20 us dollars  

or 76 000 colombian pesos can get you here in this  incredible city medellin has so much to offer from  

its stunning landscapes beautiful nature that  can be found right outside of the city limits  

and it's incredible nightlife this city literally  has something for everyone i hope you guys are  

excited this video is going to be jam-packed let's  jump right into the vlog we're going to be kicking  

off today's adventure here in medellin in the back  of an uber now i'm actually split in the uber with  

itamar right now it's ten thousand four hundred  pesos to get us down to plaza bortero in the  

middle of medellin now i highly recommend taking  public transportation it is a lot more affordable  

and it's also quite the adventure however when  it's two people the fair difference isn't all that  

much and it's so much faster taking the ubers well  depending on the hours of the day i should say  

so right now we're taking this uber to placa  potero it's around three us dollars for the ride  

i'm excited to see what we get our hands  on once we get to the center of the city

wow this is crazy it looks like right  now we're in the motorcycle area  

of the city there are bikes absolutely everywhere

we just made it to plaza potero now this here  is one of the most iconic plazas located right  

in the dead center of medellin now this area  is known for being a little bit more dangerous  

especially for tourists we've had a lot of friends  come here in the last few days and show back up to  

the house with absolutely nothing so i'm only  out here right now with the gopro documenting  

this adventure for you guys now here in this  plaza you're gonna find so many different  

incredible statues and also this beautiful  building which i'm not exactly quite sure  

what it is but the architecture and style of it is  absolutely beautiful just spotted this man selling  

lemonade so i had to pick up the glass the big cup  is actually 3000 pesos so a little shy of 1.75 us  

cents for a large ice cold lemonade now i'm  not really sure what kind of lemonade it  

is because it looks a little bit more on the  greener side of things but let's give it a go

wow tastes like it might be like chia  

i'm not too sure it's really really good it  has like a little bit of a spinachy taste  

to it i like it definitely a proof refreshing  especially for this dry humid medellin weather  

it's actually quite hard to grasp what's going  on out here there's so much like illegal activity  

it's kind of crazy and overwhelming there's a lot  of like prostitution people offering you drugs and  

also just so many like outdoor clothing  shops where they're selling everything  

from knockoffs to just locally crafted clothing  it's pretty damn cool hola bueno diaz pina bro

all right let's dive on into this  pineapple now this cup costs 2 000 pesos

so juicy so sweet so fresh worth every bit  of those 2 000 pesos if we didn't have a  

full day of walking around i'd probably  buy a few of these bad boys so good

because it's the weekend there's actually a huge  outdoor tiangi styled market that we're walking  

through right now and they're selling everything  from like tommy hilfiger to calvin klein  

and even street food the smells are absolutely  incredible i'm really curious to see what we're  

gonna be spending the next bit of our money on  it looks like up next we have some micheladas

i was not expecting that our next bit of money  was going to be spent on some ice cold micheladas  

right now we're sitting outside of the stand  watching them prepare these micheladas and they're  

selling like crazy these ones are actually a lot  different than any micheladas i've had in the past  

in mexico and in other places in the world this  one actually has mangoes salt and lime inside  

incredible so refreshing for this  day in seven thousand colombian faces

we actually just made a wrong turn and  ended up in like the red light district here  

in the center of medellin so i wasn't able to film  much but man was it unreal to see just so many  

girls and a lot of them like young walking the  streets asking for 30 000 pesos in exchange for  

for you know what pretty crazy but  right now we're on the main street  

another main walking boulevard and there's so many  things you can actually buy i think the next thing  

on our list today is some food by far one of my  favorite things about medellin are all of the open  

spaces and parks that can be found throughout  the city in the el pollado area specifically  

where chances are you're probably going to be  staying if you come to medellin as a tourist the  

neighborhood itself is filled with luscious  green spaces parks and just so many places  

to hang out medellin is one of those cities in  south america i could probably see myself living  

just left that plaza and right away spotted this  place called arepa west and i guess these arepas  

are actually made that chocolate right now i'm  gonna order myself one let's try these bad boys

wow look at this guys incredible the moment i've  been waiting for this smells incredible i love  

the way she's cooking them too flipping them  on top of that stove top and the cheese on top  

look at that guys it's thick it's a  layer of cheese on top of this arepa

the arepa itself has a very strong horn  

taste to it but it's a lot more  on the sweeter side of things  

so i definitely approved and then the cheese on  top the cheese on top is absolutely wonderful  

it's so soft and it's not overly strong it goes  absolutely well with the arepa wow magnificent

what a crazy day it's been so far we've only  spent 23 200 pesos which is roughly six us dollars  

and that means we have about 14 left and a whole  lot more sunlight out to explore this beautiful  

city so right now we're actually about to go  find a nice plaza relax enjoy a good hour of  

people watching and then we'll start making our  way over to a restaurant and i don't know if you  

have noticed by now but the quality of this video  is definitely a lot different especially with the  

sound quality and that is because i have been  super discreet while filming here in medellin  

this city is not the safest especially to be  walking around filming videos so i have been  

using my gopro the entire time please let me  know down in the comments if you can still  

really appreciate this video and you'd love  to see a lot more because that's the reason i  

haven't been filming too too much i've gone out  with my camera these past few days but man dude  

i find myself in some pretty rough spaces and  the last thing i can afford to lose right now  

is my camera so please give me your feedback  down at the bottom i would greatly appreciate it  

so we're actually about to order another uber  and jump into it and take it back to the el  

poblado neighborhood right now it is about 5 30  in the evening here in the center of medellin  

and things are starting to get a bit rough we're  about to sit down at this park called parque san  

antonio we were literally watching people smoke  crack pipes and we were like okay it's probably  

time for us to leave so we're heading over to the  more touristic side of medellin which is quite  

cool because you're gonna be able to witness  quite the contrast that the city has to offer  

yo guys absolutely insane right  now we're inside of the uber but  

a minute before we got in here we were approached  by a guy with a beer bottle and he was asking us  

what the hell we were doing while we were  standing in the corner for so long and why we kept  

looking at him because like we said there  was a whole bunch of people just using  

drugs selling drugs all kinds of things and  scared the [ __ ] out of you right brother

crazy dude cops literally just arrested  one person right in front of us in the taxi

just made it out of that taxi it was only ten  thousand seven hundred pesos to make it all the  

way here in el pablado now el poglado is the more  trendier area and the place where you can find the  

most tourists and pretty much all of the nightlife  atmosphere now right now before we go and get a  

bite to eat i want to show you guys something  that is extremely common here in colombia here  

in colombia street performers of all kinds line  up in front of cars and perform at red lights  

in order to make tips and that's how they  earn a living how crazy and cool is that

yo how crazy was that these people know how to  get down i just got done tipping them about four  

thousand pesos so around one us dollar what a  show i love seeing the red light performances  

here in colombia they don't feel like look  they're about to go out again for a round two

i could literally stay here all day to  watch this let's go get some food guys

just made it into a restaurant called santa's  melonas and i've actually ate here a few times  

over the course of the last week here in medellin  and i love it because it's located right in the  

heart of el poglado and right next to parque  poblado now here they offer a menu delbia which  

are pretty typical meals that can be found all  around south america and basically it's like a  

house menu item which includes an entree a main  course and a drink i just got done ordering me  

a plate with some kind of pork a bean soup and a  juice all for 14 000 pesos around four us dollars  

now this here is the juice that comes with  the menu albia i actually went with a hugo de  

guadabo not really sure what that is if you know  please let me know down at the bottom let's try it

wow kind of tastes like tamarindo guarapo  i like it i approve so the soup just came  

out and this here is a bean soup looks like  there's potato in there and some pork as well

oh man that's so good so many seasonings in  there oh it has a little tang to it too as  

well a little spice i like it let's  go ahead and try this pork shall we

wow this is incredible and it's covered with like  an alfredo sauce mushrooms onions so good now  

i do want to throw up this plate is  extremely affordable the food's delicious but  

it is so hot in here when you pay three dollars  you definitely don't get air conditioning but man  

this is definitely one of my favorite places here  in medellin if you're in the park area you need to  

come here and check it out so what you guys aren't  witnessing is that there's actually this young  

guy right behind me cleaning a bunch of windows  here as the cars stopped at the red lights and he  

actually just came by and asked us for some food  and man he's been out there working pretty hard  

so you know i think i'm actually going to spend  a bit of this budget and get him a meal as well

is

so i was just talking to him and  telling him like man dude that's  

a hard-ass job i see him out there  like working his ass off all day long

seven in the morning and this  is what he's earned today crazy

okay

just left that restaurant that meal was absolutely  incredible we spent 30 000 pesos 15 000 pesos  

per menu del dia but man did it feel good to buy  that kid a meal now he was actually 16 years old  

and he had just gotten here from venezuela about  five months ago he said life's been extremely hard  

he misses his family he wishes he could go back  to venezuela right now because out here he is  

just struggling so hard to survive definitely guys  if you can and if you're in an opportunity to help  

someone out even with something as small as a 15  000 peso meal which is literally like four dollars  

it can mean the world to somebody he was super  happy about it once we left the restaurant he  

called all of his other friends and they all  ate off the same plate i honestly wish i was  

fortunate enough to completely buy  every single person a meal there but  

of course i am physically and financially not  capable of making that happen right now we have  

officially spent 63 000 pesos and i think the  best way to finish the evening off is by heading  

up to a rooftop to enjoy the beautiful skyline  of medellin right now we're about to head up to  

the rooftop of messiah hosta located right here  in the center of el poblado and grab ourselves a  

nice drink with the remaining 12 000 pesos and  enjoy the view of medellin let's head up there

just made it to the rooftop of messiah and the  vibes here are exactly what you're looking for  

and what you need when you're in medellin here you  get 360 degree panoramic views of the entire city  

and the mountains that lie on the outskirts  of this beautiful city now i just picked up  

myself a beer this here is a club columbia  very very popular beer here in colombia and  

it is 8 000 pesos here up top of the messiah  rooftop bar on the streets you can find them  

of course for around 2 000 but for a view like  this you are gonna pay for it here in the city
