Bible story "For Me!" | Primary Year D Quarter 1 Episode 11 | Gracelink - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[9]
Hello everyone, it's Aunt Frenita.
[13]
Today's story is called,
[15]
"For Me!"
[20]
The memory verse
[22]
is from John Chapter 3, verse 16.
[26]
It says
[27]
"For God so loved the world,
[29]
that He gave his one and only Son,
[33]
that whoever believes in Him,
[35]
shall not perish, but have eternal life."
[39]
The message is
[40]
I want Jesus, to be my personal Saviour.
[46]
Who is your best friend?
[48]
Would you be willing to suffer to help that friend?
[52]
Is there anyone you don't like?
[55]
Would you do whatever it takes to help
[57]
that person, if they were in trouble?
[61]
I know someone who would answer "Yes"
[64]
to both questions.
[66]
He suffered and died in our place,
[68]
to save everyone.
[70]
Let's read His story.
[74]
"I have examined this man, and He is innocent"
[78]
Pilate argued.
[79]
"I will have him whipped
[81]
but then i will release Him."
[84]
A great roar
[85]
rose from the crowd.
[87]
"Crucify Him! Crucify Him!
[90]
Release Barabbas to us!"
[92]
The crowd shouted
[94]
louder and louder.
[96]
It was the custom
[98]
to release a prisoner during the Passover season.
[101]
The crowd was demanding that a
[103]
terrible criminal be set free.
[105]
And that innocent Jesus be put to death.
[109]
Pilate was the governor.
[110]
But he was afraid of the people.
[113]
And at last, he let them have their way.
[117]
Pilate knew Jesus was not guilty of any crime.
[120]
But he turned Him over to the mob.
[122]
And he let Barabbas out of prison.
[126]
Thousands of people lined both sides of the road
[129]
as Jesus struggled along.
[132]
He staggered under the weight of His cross.
[135]
Most people shouted and jeered at Jesus.
[139]
His friends and followers, wept.
[143]
Finally Jesus fell down.
[145]
He had no strength left
[148]
after being beaten by the soldiers.
[151]
The soldiers grabbed a strong looking man
[154]
who was standing nearby
[156]
Simon,
[157]
a traveler from the town of Cyrene,
[160]
was forced to carry Jesus' cross.
[163]
They reached the place called Calvary,
[166]
the place where criminals were crucified.
[169]
The soldiers pushed Jesus roughly
[172]
down on the cross.
[173]
They pounded long, iron spikes
[176]
through His wrists and His feet.
[178]
Then they lifted the cross
[180]
and dropped the bottom of it
[182]
in a hole in the ground,
[184]
so it would stand upright.
[187]
The pain was terrible.
[190]
Crucifixion was the most painful
[193]
and cruel way to put someone to death.
[196]
But Jesus prayed,
[198]
"Father,
[199]
forgive these people,
[201]
they don't know what they're doing."
[205]
The crowd watched as leaders made fun of Jesus.
[209]
"He saved other people, but He can't save Himself!"
[212]
They jeered.
[214]
The soldiers made fun of Jesus too.
[216]
They made a sign and nailed it above His head.
[219]
"This is the King of the Jews!"
[222]
It declared.
[223]
Two thieves were crucified along with Jesus.
[227]
One of the men mocked Him.
[229]
"So you're the Messiah!
[231]
Prove it by saving Yourself, and us too!"
[235]
The other thief responded
[237]
"We deserve to die." He protested.
[240]
"But this Man, has done nothing wrong!"
[244]
He turned to Jesus and said
[246]
"Remember me when you come into Your Kingdom."
[250]
And Jesus promised that He would.
[255]
At noon, the light from the Sun completely disappeared.
[259]
The darkness lasted
[261]
until 3 o' clock when Jesus cried.
[264]
"Father!
[265]
I entrust My Spirit into Your hands!"
[269]
And then, He died.
[272]
The earth shook.
[273]
The curtain in the temple was torn
[275]
into two from top to bottom.
[278]
Only God or His angels could have ripped
[281]
the thick curtain!
[283]
A good man named Joseph went to Pilate,
[286]
and asked for Jesus' body.
[289]
Joseph put Jesus' body in a new tomb.
[292]
One that had been carved out of a rock.
[295]
The very tomb that Joseph had made for himself.
[299]
A big stone was rolled in place to seal the tomb.
[304]
It was very late Friday afternoon.
[308]
All was quiet.
[310]
Everyone knew something powerful... had just happened.
