so the first step is to sign up for the

washington cares act um going to the

secureaccess.wa.gov website and clicking

the sign up button now on the signup

you'll have to create your own user id

password as well as provide your email

address

the state will send a verification link

to the email address provided you will

need to verify your address before

clicking and logging in on the website

after you log in you're going to click

add a new service it will take you to

the next screen where you would like to

browse a list of services it should say

everything is in alphabetical order so

you put in your age and you will also

items to say that you're at least 18

that you have a long-term care insurance

policy that you want to opt out of the

washing cares program and also that you

understand that if you are approved you

will never be eligible for this program

state has the

information and they can verify it

or request additional information for

go ahead and click next

and here is where you're going to upload

your proof of identity

so you can include your driver's license

your passport or your residency card

go ahead and click choose file to upload

that document

next it will show you that your

application has been confirmed

you can click the home button to see the

status of your application

exemption approval letter

it's really important that you keep a

copy of this letter because you have to

provide it to all your current as well

as any future washington state employers

if you do not provide this letter to

your employers

the state will withhold taxes on your

pay stub and those

those are not

refundable if you you know delayed

giving the employer your
