CA EDD PEUC Unemployment Extension Update - Haven't Received a PEUC Extension - EDD Responded - YouTube

Channel: Ginny Silver - Business Coach for Creatives

Hey guys, it's Ginny Silver.
[1]
Now talk to those of you in the state of California who are
[4]
awaiting a PEUC extension.
[7]
If you are a UI or PEUC claim, or you reach the end of your
[11]
fed ed claim you're within your benefit year and you're at
[15]
a zero dollar balance.
[16]
You most likely have been awaiting the PEUC extension to be
[20]
applied to your claim.
[21]
Now, the American Rescue Plan Act granted an additional 29
[25]
week extension for PEUC up until claim week ending September
[29]
fourth.
[30]
Now the PEUC extension is broken down into three different
[33]
tiers. The first tier is called PEUC, and it is 13 weeks long.
[37]
The second tier is 11 weeks long and it is referred to as
[41]
either X or Tier two.
[45]
The third phase of PEUC extension is called PEUY or Tier two
[51]
Augmentation, and it is 29 weeks long.
[54]
You can collect the PEUC extensions all phases of them up
[57]
until claim week ending September four th, at which point
[60]
in time the program ends due to the stimulus bill.
[63]
For those of you that have reached the end of your benefit.
[66]
Here, the Edd does state that you must file a new claim when
[69]
you reach the end of your benefit year, but for those of
[71]
you that are within your benefit year that are at a zero
[74]
dollar balance and that are awaiting this new extension to
[77]
be applied to your claims.
[78]
And the Edd originally stated that they would complete the
[82]
rollout of applying these extensions to your claims by April
[86]
30th.
[87]
They then followed up with an additional press release, changing
[91]
this extension deadline and moving it up, saying that they
[94]
were ahead of schedule and that they would complete the process
[97]
of applying PEUC extensions to claims with the ability to
[101]
certify April 17, while April 17 came and went.
[107]
And Unfortunately, many of you are left without receiving
[111]
the PEUC extension.
[113]
While many of my subscribers reported that, Yes, they were
[116]
awarded the next phase of their PEC extension, an overwhelming
[121]
amount have also reported back to me that they have not been
[124]
extended, that they are within their benefit year, that they
[127]
don't have any additional holds on their accounts, such as
[130]
ID, verification, etc.
[131]
And they've been out of zero balance for quite some time.
[134]
While the Edd has failed a number of individuals to receive
[137]
the PEUC extension automatically.
[140]
When the April 17th deadline came and went, the Edd did
[145]
not address this issue anywhere.
[147]
They did not issue a statement saying that they had completed
[150]
the rollout of the PEUC extension being applied, that claims
[153]
they did not address it on Twitter.
[155]
They did not address it in a Press release.
[157]
Now, yesterday I noticed two very strange things.
[160]
Number one, yesterday was the EDD's regular date that they
[164]
release press releases every Thursday.
[167]
The Edd issues out a Press release.
[170]
Strange thing is that the Edd did not release a Press release
[173]
yesterday. They did not address in any form that they have
[177]
surpassed this 4/17 date for applying the PEUC extension.
[183]
Now they did not issue a Press release yesterday and I was
[185]
hoping for a Press release to give us more answers on if
[189]
they were still continuing to issue these if there was some
[192]
sort of a delay or if there's a new date to expect them by.
[196]
Unfortunately, the Edd did not issue a Press release.
[199]
Now the other strange thing is that the Edd has changed their
[204]
website in the area where they previously listed that PEUC
[207]
claims would be extended with the ability to certify by 4/17.
[212]
They have removed that piece from their website.
[216]
Well, yesterday I was asked to do an interview with KTVUs
[220]
Tom Baker.
[221]
I conducted the interview over Zoom, and then at the end
[223]
I decided that I would ask him my questions for the Edd and
[227]
see if he would be willing to help me obtain more information
[231]
because as someone who is a random person on the Internet
[234]
creating YouTube videos, I don't have as much access to getting
[239]
information from the Edd as news reporter would.
[242]
Now, I am so thankful to Tom Vicar for reaching out to the
[245]
Edd on my behalf because he did get a reply.
[249]
He got a reply from the deputy Director him to reach out
[252]
and follow up on the EDD's promise date of awarding PEUC extensions
[256]
by 4/17 States.
[258]
The PEUC rollout was completed ahead of schedule.
[262]
Please see the update we provided in last week's news release.
[266]
Whether or not someone can continue on or be moved to federal
[270]
extension benefits, including a PEUC claim.
[273]
All depends on where someone is on their claim and if they
[277]
continue to be unemployed or working reduced hours during
[280]
the pandemic.
[281]
It also depends on whether or not someone has come up to
[285]
the end of their benefit year on their initial claim.
[288]
This particular web page on that has received more than 3,000,000
[292]
hits so far because the information is so important to those
[295]
who started a claim a year ago and continue to experience
[299]
issues on their claim.
[300]
Thanks for helping us share out these valuable resources
[303]
to your viewers.
[304]
Now the press release that she references in this email was
[307]
she States that they announced that they completed rolling
[311]
out PEUC extensions.
[312]
I'm going to show to you.
[314]
The press release contains additional information, but I'm
[316]
going to show you directly the part that pertains to the
[319]
American Rescue Plan Act section.
[321]
The state that the Department has continued to pay an average
[324]
of nearly 10,000,000 claims a week this year and has paid
[327]
over 24,000,000,000 in benefits this year.
[329]
The Federal American Rescue Plan took effect on March 14
[333]
th over the month since Edd has paid a total of 2.7 billion
[337]
in extended federal benefits for millions of Californians
[341]
under the federal programs extended by the American recipe.
[344]
This includes PUA, PEUC and PAC, which is the 300 dollars boost also
[351]
known as FPUC.
[353]
The Department has continued to meet and move faster on implementation
[357]
targets for the American Rescue Plan, including ensuring
[361]
all 1.2 million collecting on an existing Pua claim have
[367]
been able to certify and receive benefits if eligible since
[370]
last month faster than the April 10th target.
[374]
Californians on regular state UI or Fed
[377]
Ed have continued to receive the additional 300 dollars federal
[381]
payment without interruption since the federal program launched.
[384]
It does not state in that press release that they have completed
[389]
the PEUC extension.
[391]
It States that they completed extending Pua claims.
[395]
The only thing it States about PEUC in terms of completing
[399]
anything is that PEC with a remaining balance within their
[403]
benefit year, we're able to still collect.
[406]
It does not mention an end date being reached for applying
[410]
PEUC extensions.
[412]
So essentially this reply back to the deputy Director is
[416]
insufficient. It's pointing to a Press release that doesn't
[419]
address the actual process.
[421]
The problem here is that claimants who are within their benefit
[425]
year or at a zero dollar balance who have been waiting weeks
[429]
some months to receive the PEUC extension have not received
[432]
it automatically.
[433]
If these claimants are all in good standing with their accounts,
[437]
their accounts are not expired.
[438]
They're not subject to an ID verification or anything else.
[442]
Those claimants have not been awarded the PEUC extension.
[445]
Well, the press release she directed to does not address
[448]
this issue either.
[449]
So what should you do moving forward if you are someone who
[453]
is still awaiting this extension?
[456]
Well, number one, make sure that you are within your benefit
[460]
year. If your benefit year has ended PEUC, UI, fed ed and you
[466]
were 12 months after the start of your claim start date.
[470]
As noted in UI online, then you must file a new claim.
[474]
But if you're within your benefit year and you're simply
[477]
waiting for the Edd to apply the extension because the Edd
[481]
is not addressing that there is any sort of a delay in awarding
[485]
these extensions and in fact, a replying that they completed
[489]
it ahead of schedule.
[491]
I do want to urge you guys to call into customer service
[495]
and try to get this fixed on your claim.
[497]
Number one, Fill out a UI online contact Us Form, number two,
[503]
Fill out an Ask Edd contact form.
[506]
Doing these two things passively may work out for you.
[510]
Most likely it won't result in getting your problems fixed
[514]
because they take quite a long time to reply to.
[516]
But just in case it happens to help do these two things right
[520]
away, call in to customer service and call in repeatedly.
[524]
I do have several videos that show exactly my tips on how
[529]
to get through fastest.
[530]
Unfortunately, calling in is extremely difficult this week
[534]
by telling you to call in I by no means and saying that that
[537]
is an easy thing to accomplish in order to try to call in
[540]
and have the best chances to get through.
[542]
I do recommend calling 1-833-978-2511 After selecting your
[550]
language preference, you're going to wait until the announcer
[552]
says, select from the following and then type in very quickly,
[556]
all at once.
[556]
134 If this hangs up on unit tells you that there's too many
[561]
colors, hang up and try again until it gets you through.
[565]
The trick does work and does help to save time.
[567]
However, due to the volume of colors, it will not work for
[570]
everyone, and it will not work without a significant number
[574]
of tries.
[575]
Number three, if you speak any of the different languages
[578]
that are offered on the EDD's phone lines, either Spanish
[582]
or one of the other phone numbers that I'm listing here,
[585]
select that line next.
[588]
If you are someone that feels that choosing a third party
[591]
app to redial for you is a good fit, take a look at the video
[595]
that I did where I test out the two paid apps that are redial
[599]
services that do get you through to a hold line.
[602]
This is not going to be a fit for everyone, and I completely
[605]
understand that you should not have to pay a third party
[609]
service to reach a government agency.
[612]
But many of my subscribers were reporting that this was very
[615]
helpful for them, and I'm continuing to receive positive
[619]
feedback. While I'm not directly recommending that you must
[622]
use a third party service to do this, I did want to test
[625]
it for you so you could see how it works.
[627]
See my experience with it, and then decide for yourself.
[630]
And Lastly, and this is extremely important is if you are
[634]
having trouble if you cannot get through.
[636]
If you have higher level problems that aren't seeming to
[639]
get resolved, contact your Assembly member.
[642]
Your Assembly members have been extremely helpful in many
[645]
cases in expediting the solutions to your problems and in
[650]
acting as a bridge between you and the Edd higherlevel representatives.
[655]
In some cases, they aren't able to resolve your problem,
[657]
and some people have reported them to be unhelpful.
[660]
But the majority of my subscribers are still reporting that
[663]
contacting their Assembly member has made a huge difference
[666]
in getting their claim issues for solve.
[668]
Okay, guys, I hope that was helpful.

[673]
Now, the press release that she referenced.
[675]
I'm gonna show you what it says.
[677]
Oops.
[681]
All depends.
[684]
Can't see any glasses,PEUC or PEUY.
[690]
See tier 2 and PEU.....
[694]
Too many letters.
[697]
Let me try again.
[700]
Okay.
[703]
Played on my hair.
[705]
My kids.
[707]
It's in there.
