either looking to join navy federal or

those of you that are already members of

davey federal and we're going to go over

a few things say that maybe you didn't
[15]
know about maybe federal because man
[17]
these are some things that i did not
[19]
know and some of the ways i've had to
[20]
find out about these things have been uh
[23]
just a hassle to put it lightly to say
[25]
the least so today we're going to talk
[26]
about five things that maybe federal
[29]
really for the most part they won't tell
[31]
you unless you ask them okay maybe
[33]
you'll get a representative who's a bit
[35]
more uh
[36]
can i say not necessarily volunteers
[38]
information but a representative who's a
[40]
takes a bit more initiative to let you
[42]
know about some of these things than
[44]
others who will just you know maybe
[46]
answer your questions and like that's it
[47]
they're not gonna give you any
[48]
additional info that might actually be
[49]
important to you so we're gonna talk
[51]
about that today and i do have to tell
[52]

my own experience through

other places online and stuff that you

five things navy federal won't tell you
[111]
unless you ask them
[112]
and maybe a bonus just saying maybe
[115]
okay there's a bonus all right anyway
[116]
the first thing we'll talk about in this
[118]
video is number one that you get a um
[121]
people know oftentimes will know about
[123]
the credit limit increase that you can
[125]
get you can not will but can
[128]
get automatically after six months of
[130]
having a navy federal credit card so yes
[133]
you can get that um at the six month
[135]
mark of having your credit card any of
[137]
the unsecured cards okay the um secured
[139]
card the end rewards that's a on a
[141]
different it's a totally different
[143]
animal than the unsecured unsecured
[144]
cards but yeah at the six month mark you
[146]
can automatically get approved for a
[149]
limit increase now the one thing people
[150]
often don't know about this and i didn't
[152]
know until recently i was just talking
[153]
to an operator or one of the
[155]
representatives and i asked her i told
[156]
her well hey i you know
[158]
i was coming up for a
[160]
that six month mark in like the next two
[162]
months and so i just got a credit limit
[163]
increase
[164]
um recently so
[167]
you know i do i have to wait three more
[168]
months another three billing cycles
[170]
because commonly they want you to wait
[171]
three billion cycles after you get your
[173]
credit card before you ask for the
[174]
increase but come to find out that
[176]
whenever you ask for that increase
[178]
yourself you make the request has no
[180]
bearing has no impact on that six month
[184]
automatic review for you to potentially
[186]
get another increase so say you have the
[188]
credit card and you had it for five
[190]
months and at five months you requested
[192]
a credit limit increase and they give
[194]
you that credit limit increase well the
[195]
next month on month six this uh system
[199]
will automatically at the six month mark
[201]
still look at your account to
[202]
potentially give you another automatic
[204]
increase now when i spoke to the rep she
[206]
said it's really just random the amount
[208]
they give you i mean of course you could
[210]
get approved you could not get approved
[212]
the cool thing though is if they don't
[213]
approve you at that six month mark every
[215]
month the system will look at your
[217]
account every single month after that
[219]
for a potential automatic increase again
[221]
so you know you understand that even if
[223]
you don't get the six month mark the
[224]
computer system will continue to look at
[226]
it month after month after that which
[228]
brings me to the second thing that navy
[230]
federal definitely will not tell you if
[232]
you don't ask um because i found this
[234]
out from one of my subscribers and i put
[236]
in a video and several other people had
[238]
the exact same thing happened to them
[239]
and this happened to me too
[240]
is your account your credit card account
[243]
can have a lock on it that you don't
[245]
even know about i've never seen it on
[247]
navy photos website anywhere i'd never
[249]
heard this seen it online anywhere i'd
[252]
never anybody talk about this but navy
[253]
federal can have a lock on your credit
[255]
card account and they won't even tell
[257]
you you won't know you won't get a
[259]
message you won't get an email you won't
[260]
get a phone call you won't get a text
[262]
message you will not get a letter in the
[263]
mail you'll get nothing
[265]
telling you that your account actually
[267]
has a lock on it that will prevent you
[270]
from getting that automatic credit limit
[272]
increase at the six month mark now there
[274]
are different reasons why this could be
[275]
it could be if you had a if you chose to
[277]
freeze your credit if you had a fraud
[279]
alert um
[280]
in the past or if maybe federal just
[282]
thinks your card is using um you know
[284]
the upper end of your limit a whole lot
[285]
or whatever there's a variety of reasons
[287]
they could do it but they're just going
[288]
to do it and they're not going to say
[290]
anything to you so you need to call navy
[292]
federal if you've got one credit card
[294]
two credit cards three credit cards with
[295]
them call and ask them to say hey is
[297]
there a lock on my account that would
[299]
prevent me from getting this automatic
[301]
um review for a credit limit increase
[304]
because again if you have that lock the
[305]
system every month is going to keep
[307]
checking well every month that lock is
[308]
on there the system's just gonna keep
[309]
going past your account you're gonna get
[311]
denied basically every single month
[312]
after after that six month mark and not
[314]
even know it so you have to call them
[316]
and ask them and when i asked i said
[318]
okay the lock is off my account is there
[320]
anything else on my account that i need
[322]
to know about is there any lock block
[325]
anything any notes anything that i need
[327]
to know about that could stop me or hurt
[329]
my you know hurt me getting the most i
[331]
can out of my relationship um you know
[333]
that i'm building with navy federal and
[334]
the rep goes no so you want to call them
[336]
and check on that the third thing
[339]
the navy fiddler will not tell you about
[340]
unless you ask them um is credit limit
[342]
migration now i didn't even know about
[344]
this until i found out about it uh with
[346]
american express that you can take the
[348]
credit limit from one of your cards or
[350]
you can at least take a portion of it
[351]
and transfer it over to another credit
[353]
card you have now with american express
[355]
you can only do it on the personal side
[357]
and on the business side between those
[358]
cards you can't go like across navy
[360]
federal has one business card they have
[362]
uh
[363]
six personal of the six personal five
[365]
are unsecured so you can do it between
[367]
those um unsecured cards i don't i don't
[371]
know if you can go across from the one
[372]
business card to the person with maybe
[373]
federal but it's probably not that
[375]
common but nonetheless you can take part
[377]
of your credit limit from one card and
[378]
put it with another so say you have a
[380]
cash rewards card with a thirty thousand
[382]
dollar credit limit on it and then you
[384]
apply for the platinum card and you only
[386]
have a five thousand dollar credit limit
[387]
and maybe you wanna do a balance
[389]
transfer well you can call navy federal
[391]
say hey i need to do a balance transfer
[392]
and i want to take 25 000 for my cash
[395]
rewards transferred over here to my
[397]
platinum and then you know you can do a
[399]
ten thousand dollar balance transfer
[400]
whatever balance transfer you want to do
[402]
you just want to have a higher limit so
[403]
now your platinum will have 30 000 and
[405]
your cash flows will have 5 000. now
[407]
understand within a federal you can only
[409]
transfer those limits for a balance
[411]
transfer that's it you can't just call
[412]
up and transfer because you want to so
[414]
if you in that situation i gave if you
[416]
want if you want to take that 25 000 and
[417]
put it back on your cash rewards you
[419]
have to do a balance transfer from your
[421]
platinum now to your cash rewards it
[423]
doesn't have to be twenty five thousand
[424]
dollar balance transfer but you do need
[426]
to actually do a balance transfer to get
[427]
that um limit back over there so but
[430]
nonetheless it's an option you have if
[432]
you want to do a balance transfer on the
[433]
platinum card and maybe you don't get
[436]
approved for a very high limit you can
[437]
do that if you ask maybe federal they'll
[439]
tell you they'll tell you you can do it
[440]
but they're usually not going to
[441]
volunteer that information
[444]
the fourth thing
[445]
with navy federal that you can do that
[447]
they're generally not going to tell you
[448]
about and i mean i can kind of see why
[450]
any credit card institution won't make
[452]
this a big deal to tell you is you can
[454]
request a lower apr on your card so you
[457]
know if you're running paying interest
[458]
you can actually have a lower apr on it
[460]
now with navy federal it has to be at
[462]
the one year anniversary that's the
[463]
soonest you can do it so you call them
[465]
you ask them for a lower apr they might
[467]
reduce it one percent they might reduce
[468]
it three percent it just depends but
[471]
once a year is when you can actually get
[473]
it reduced now if they don't reduce it
[475]
when you call them after on the one
[476]
one-year mark you can go back the next
[478]
day if you want like you could there's
[479]
it's not a it's not a hard inquiry it's
[481]
not a soft inquiry it's not anything so
[483]
you can just keep calling back and keep
[485]
asking you know until until you're
[487]
eventually able to get it reduced but
[488]
you know they are going to be looking at
[490]
your past history and use of the car so
[492]
if you've got like late payments and
[493]
stuff they're probably not going to give
[494]
you a lower apr but if you've been
[495]
responsible with the card then yeah you
[497]
can call up try try if it doesn't work
[499]
okay maybe you wait a couple weeks try
[501]
again and then they reduce it that day
[503]
okay then you have another year you can
[505]
call and do it again so some people you
[507]
know they obviously the results will
[508]
vary but one of the reps actually was
[510]
cool and she told me she got it reduced
[512]
she got hers reduced a few percent the
[513]
first year she asked and then she said
[515]
the next year when she asked she got to
[516]
reduce all the way down as low as she
[518]
could i think it was on her flagship she
[520]
got a reduced all the way down to like
[521]
the 9.65 or whatever it is on the
[523]
flagship card um so you know it may take
[525]
a couple years but hey every year on
[527]
that car's anniversary you're eligible
[529]
to ask for a
[532]
decrease on your apr on your credit card
[535]
so you can do that once you get approved
[536]
hey you got one wait one more year you
[537]
can do it again so again something else
[540]
you can do that you can utilize is maybe
[541]
federal that they're typically not going
[543]
to tell you about now the fifth thing
[545]
we're going to talk about that they
[546]
won't generally tell you about is how to
[548]
get one of their better cars without
[550]
actually having to apply for it so what
[552]
you can do is apply for one of the their
[554]
lower tier cards like the platinum the
[556]
cashier awards or the go rewards those
[558]
are probably like the three easiest ones
[560]
to apply for and then you can actually
[562]
product switch after you get approved
[563]
for one of those you can product switch
[565]
to a one of their higher cards like the
[567]
more rewards or the flagship card so if
[570]
you want you can apply for let's say the
[572]
go rewards card which as i make this
[573]
video i think they're offering like a
[574]
200
[575]
um sign up bonus if you spend two
[578]
thousand dollars in the first three
[580]
months with the card so you can sign up
[582]
for the go rewards hey hit your signup
[583]
bonus and after you do that then they
[585]
switch that i say i'd like to product
[587]
change to a more rewards card and you
[590]
can do that okay i mean you have to ask
[591]
them and you have to get it approved and
[593]
then you know they'll be willing to do
[594]
that for you um understand with the
[596]
flagship card though you do have to have
[598]
at least a five thousand dollar minimum
[600]
credit limit because that's the minimum
[602]
to get approved for the flagship cars so
[604]
if you have the platinum the more
[606]
rewards or the platinum the cash rewards
[608]
the go rewards or even the more rewards
[610]
and you only have like you know a 3500
[612]
credit limit you cannot product switch
[614]
that into a flagship card because you're
[616]
not going to meet that minimum
[618]
5 000 credit limit to have the flagship
[620]
card so just understand that that's the
[622]
one um thing to look out for if you are
[625]
going to be trying that strategy with
[626]
the flagship card
[628]
and the bonus
[629]
oh the final thing we'll talk about here
[631]
and this gets into a personal story of
[632]
mine that maybe federal may not tell you
[635]
about or i should say they won't tell
[637]
you that for me they didn't tell me
[638]
about it they weren't going to tell me
[639]
about it had i not called numerous times
[642]
and asked and happened to mention it
[643]
that was if you were actually even
[645]
approved for a credit limit increase a
[647]
lot of you guys watched my video i did
[649]
several videos on that getting denied
[650]
for the increase
[652]
initially getting told numerous things
[654]
by different reps um you know because
[656]
they didn't approve me right away when i
[657]
applied online so i caught a couple days
[659]
in a row first couple reps i spoke to
[661]
said yeah it's still pending it's still
[662]
pending i call a few days after that and
[664]
then a rep says i get denied she was
[667]
like you were denied you have to wait
[668]
six months for your next credit limit
[670]
increase there's no counteroffer there's
[671]
no reconsideration nothing it was like
[674]
your out of luck dude
[675]
basically what she told me she didn't
[677]
say those words but all in all that was
[679]
like damn okay i'm dead in the water on
[681]
this one and then i called a week later
[684]
uh spoke to another rep about something
[686]
totally different i just happened to
[687]
mention to her about what happened with
[689]
my credit limit increase request and she
[692]
offered to go look into it for me like i
[694]
said earlier some of some reps will take
[696]
more initiative than others when you
[698]
talk to them on the phone she just i
[700]
told her about it she goes that sounds a
[701]
little strange because i could take a
[702]
look into it for you if you'd like and i
[704]
said you know what sure why not let's
[705]
take a look and she told me she goes
[707]
actually i had not been denied the
[709]
credit limit increase they were actually
[711]
waiting for me to send they gave me two
[713]
weeks to send in documentation they need
[715]
additional documentation from me
[718]
which is basically like my tax returns
[720]
they want to see additional
[721]
documentation from me about like my
[722]
income and that kind of thing they had
[724]
actually put that out two days ago but i
[726]
never got a phone call email text
[728]
message um
[730]
message in the system a letter in the
[732]
mail
[733]
nothing about it so had i not been in
[736]
conversation with that newer rep and had
[738]
just happened to mention it and she just
[740]
happened to volunteer to go look into
[742]
the situation for me that two weeks
[744]
would have went by that i didn't even
[746]
know they were waiting for me to send an
[747]
information because they didn't tell me
[748]
anything that two weeks would have went
[750]
by would have expired i would just been
[752]
denied the credit limit increase and i
[753]
would have never known about it had i
[755]
not just happened to bring it up and she
[757]
happened to volunteer to look into it
[759]
for me so it pays to call and check
[762]
especially with something like that
[763]
where you're getting told no whether
[764]
it's a
[765]
credit card application a credit limit
[767]
increase a loan you're applying for
[768]
anything along those lines you get that
[770]
no answer i would call more than once
[773]
talk to more than one different rep and
[774]
just ask me what are my options what you
[776]
know what can be done here have you ever
[778]
seen have you in your experience have
[780]
you seen someone get approved in this
[781]
situation what else you know could
[784]
someone possibly do is there anything i
[785]
don't know about that i might have an
[787]
option available to me ask those kinds
[789]
of questions leave them kind of
[790]
open-ended like that and that way you
[792]
know the rep can say well you know if
[793]
you have someone who's experienced and
[795]
someone has it takes some initiative
[796]
they might say well you know i have seen
[798]
someone do this i've seen people try
[799]
this right they might just speak from
[801]
experience what they've seen other
[802]
people do then that can be very
[803]
beneficial to you but you gotta ask
[806]
because some of these things like i've
[808]
been sharing with you they're not gonna
[809]
tell you you're gonna have to take it
[811]
upon yourself to ask some of these
[812]
things and it's unfortunate because some
[814]
things like you know having your credit
[816]
account locked from the automatic
[818]
increase you would never know
[820]
yeah i'd never even heard of that just
[821]
happened to hear someone else mention
[822]
and i call it an ass and i had a lock on
[824]
my account i would never even think to
[825]
ask that so some of it's unfortunate
[827]
some of this stuff you're not going to
[828]
ever
[829]
think to know or think to ask because
[831]
you don't know about it but some of
[832]
these other things where you do get
[834]
denied you're getting some pushback ask
[836]
what are my other options what
[837]
possibilities are there what other
[839]
avenues do i have that could possibly
[840]
exercise you know what else do you think
[842]
i could do in this situation ask things
[844]
like that talk to different reps you may
[846]
get an answer from a rep that you know
[848]
you didn't expect and they might just
[849]
one it just takes one person they might
[851]
give you a little bit of information
[852]
that actually was being really helpful
[854]
in turning your whole situation around
[856]
