Aetna Medicare Supplement Rates - YouTube

[0]
Well, when it comes to Medicare Supplement Insurance, there's no
[3]
shortage of companies that offer it.
[5]
And in your area, there's probably 15 to 20 different ones.
[9]
However, there's one company that we've been writing for years.
[11]
Absolutely one of our favorite companies.
[14]
Definitely a top three.
[15]
We've got thousands of clients with them.
[18]
And that's Aetna Medicare.
[19]
Today, I'll be discussing Aetna Medicare Supplement rates, the differences in the
[23]
plans and why you should consider Aetna as one of your choices.
[27]
Now, Aetna is based in good old Nashville, Tennessee.
[31]
Boy, what a great city that is.
[33]
We're headquartered in Austin, Texas, which they call the live music capital
[36]
of the world.
[37]
Let me tell ya, Nashville ranks right up there with them.
[40]
And I'll tell you a little story.
[42]
The last time I was in Nashville, I got to see Mel Tillis live at the Grand Ole
[47]
Opry, and my wife wishes that never happened because I never stopped
[52]
singing, "I got the house and she got the set."
[56]
Yes, yes, I know. My wife says my singing brings tears to her eyes.
[60]
I think that's a good thing.
[62]
Anyway, Aetna has a family of companies, not just one.
[66]
So you might have Aetna Health and Life. Or you might see their company now,
[69]
Accendo Medicare supplements, or Continental Life Insurance, and another
[74]
one called American Continental.
[76]
Yes, believe it or not, all these companies offer Medicare Supplement
[80]
plans. It just depends on the state they're in.
[82]
So let's talk a little bit about what Aetna Medicare Supplement plans actually
[86]
do.
[87]
Well, Medicare Supplement plans, also called Medigap, supplement Medicare Part
[92]
A and B.
[93]
Now, Part A is hospitalization. B is doctor services.
[97]
They don't cover everything for you.
[99]
They cover the main things.
[100]
However, there are co-pays, deductibles, as well as co-insurance that you're
[104]
required to pay.
[105]
So a Medigap plan, or Medicare supplement plan, whatever you want to
[109]
call it, put out by Aetna or any other company, helps to pay those gaps or
[114]
expenses in Part A and Part B Medicare that you're required to pay.
[119]
Now, all of the plans put out by any company are what's called standardized.
[124]
This means that no matter which company offers a plan, they have to have
[129]
identical coverage from company to company.
[131]
However, the premiums for these plans vary widely.
[134]
Now, Medicare supplement plans are put out and designated by letters.
[139]
So the most popular plans being Medicare Plan G, Medicare Plan N, and Medicare
[145]
Plan F, if you had Medicare prior to January 1 of 2020.
[150]
The reason is they got rid of that plan.
[152]
Anybody new enrolling in Medicare on that date or beyond, cannot get a Plan
[156]
F.
[157]
Now, I'll break down the benefits of each plan quickly here.
[160]
And then we'll talk about it in a Medicare supplement plan rates.
[163]
Because like I mentioned, everybody's got the same coverage, Aetna's rates are
[168]
going to be entirely different than everybody else's rates.
[171]
So let's start with Medicare Supplement Plan G from Aetna.
[175]
Now, Plan G is now the most popular plan out there.
[178]
The reason is Plan F went away, like I told you.
[181]
If you have a Plan F still, I highly encourage you to look at Plan G, you'll
[185]
save a ton of money.
[187]
And the only difference between Plan F and G is who writes the Part B
[191]
deductible.
[192]
So quickly, Medicare Supplement Plan F, what does it do?
[195]
Well, it pays the gaps 100%; those gaps in Medicare Part A and Part B.
[200]
Now, Medicare Supplement Plan G is identical to that, where you get 100%
[205]
coverage, however, you just must first pay the Part B deductible yourself.
[211]
Now here we are in 2020. You're probably asking "Russell, how much is that
[215]
deductible, by the way?"
[216]
Well, in 2020, that deductible is $198.
[220]
And now, this is a once per calendar year deductible.
[223]
It means you pay it once, and for the rest of the year if you have a Plan G,
[228]
that plan picks up 100% of the gaps in Medicare.
[231]
So after $198, you have no medical bills for the rest of the year.
[236]
So if that sounds like great coverage to you, it is, it's fantastic coverage. And
[240]
that's why it's the most popular plan.
[242]
And Aetna Medicare Supplement Plan G rates are some of the most competitive
[246]
out there.
[246]
The great news is, like I mentioned, they're a family of companies, we've got
[250]
four different ones to choose from.
[251]
Now, they're not all available in every state.
[254]
However, we'll shop them all to see which one is available and which one has
[259]
the lowest premiums for you, all for that, a Medicare Supplement Plan G.
[263]
Now, another plan that is highly popular and gaining popularity as well is Aetna
[269]
Medicare Supplement Plan N.
[272]
Now, why is this?
[272]
Well, Plan N is very similar to G, but it's got lower premiums than Plan G.
[277]
Now, don't get me wrong, you don't get the same coverage for lower premiums,
[281]
you get slightly less coverage.
[283]
But I'll break it down even further.
[285]
Here are the benefits of an Aetna Medicare Supplement Plan N.
[289]
With Plan N, it's just like Plan G where you still pay out of pocket, the
[294]
Medicare Part B deductible.
[296]
So, again, I mentioned it being $198 for 2020.
[300]
The first $198 of your medical bills, you just pay.
[304]
Now, let me explain that deductible really quick. That changes every year.
[308]
So in 2021 and beyond, depending on when you're watching this video, you can have
[312]
a different amount.
[313]
The rules remain the same, though.
[315]
Plan N, you write that deductible check yourself just like Plan G.
[320]
However, the difference with Plan N is after you meet that deductible, you
[324]
might have a small co-pay per doctor's visit.
[326]
The co-pay will be never more than $20. It could be less or it could be no
[330]
co-pay, it's just depending on what you go for, and how they code it.
[334]
In exchange for those lower premiums again, on Plan N over Plan G, you also
[340]
might get a small co-pay, but only if you visit the emergency room and you're
[345]
not admitted.
[346]
If you visit the emergency room, you're not admitted and you go home, they're
[349]
going to charge you a $50 co-pay.
[351]
So, most people go to the emergency room because they have emergencies.
[355]
However, can you imagine, there are some people out there who go to the emergency
[359]
room for non-emergencies; happens all the time.
[362]
Well, they're going to tell you, "Hey, come on in, we'll treat you. But if you
[366]
go home, it's a $50 co-pay."
[368]
One other thing on Plan N that's not covered is what's called Part B Excess
[372]
Charges.
[373]
These are extremely rare. It's estimated over 97% of doctors in this country
[378]
accept the assigned rates for Medicare.
[381]
There's a small percentage who say, "No, for our entire practice, we don't do
[385]
that."
[385]
So your chances that your doctor accept the assigned rates for Medicare are very
[389]
good.
[390]
In the event they accept the assigned rates for Medicare, they do not charge
[394]
Part B Excess Charges and you will never see one.
[397]
Like I mentioned, these are extremely rare.
[399]
In over a decade of business, I've never had a client get an excess charge.
[403]
Plan N is a fantastic choice for one other reason as well.
[407]
It has lower rate increases than Plan G every year.
[411]
Well, when a plan has more out of pocket expenses, people tend to use it slightly
[415]
more responsibly.
[417]
Therefore, they're allowed to, or they have lower rates.
[420]
The rates are dictated by the amount of claims that are being paid out of the
[423]
group. That's one factor.
[424]
So when you have out of pocket expenses, people use it more responsibly,
[428]
it can equal lower premiums as well as lower rate increases, especially over
[433]
Medicare Plan G.
[435]
Now, I'll quickly cover Aetna Medicare Supplement Plan F, because I know
[438]
there's a lot of you watching who actually still have that.
[441]
Plan F, yes, you are allowed to keep the plan.
[444]
But that's not a good thing. That plan is closed off, which means you're going
[448]
to have higher rate increases.
[449]
Historically, and I've been in this business a long time, anytime a Medicare
[454]
supplement plan closed, which Plan F did in 2020. Yes, you get to keep it,
[459]
but there's no new premiums coming in to offset higher rate increases.
[463]
Now, what does that mean?
[464]
Well, you have a couple options.
[466]
I would highly recommend we look at Plan G or Plan N for you, based on what I
[470]
just said.
[471]
Fantastic coverage. You'll save a tremendous amount of money on your
[474]
premiums coming down to Plan G, even after you write that deductible check.
[479]
If you're dying to keep Plan N, you can stay with Plan F and you could actually
[484]
switch to a different company and save money.
[486]
So we can help you there as well.
[487]
Now, to do that, the easiest way on any of these plans, if you're ready to ask

[547]
"Well, what about Aetna Medicare Supplement plans for 2021?
[550]
What are they going to offer?"
[552]
Well, they're going to offer exactly what I just said.
[554]
It's going to be Plan N and Plan G.
[557]
And if you have a Plan F, you can switch to their Plan F.
[560]
But there are no new big changes with Medicare Supplement plans for 2021.
[565]
