The reason behind this sharp rise in stock price can be the company's strong quarterly results.

On 23rd Oct, ICICI Bank declared its financial year 21-22's quarter 2 results.

ICICI Bank's profit after tax increased from 30% to Rs.5511 crores compared to last year.

The company's bad loans provisions were reduced and asset quality was improved.

We saw double-digit growth in the company's Net interest Income, Operating profit, and other incomes

The company's net interest income which is the difference between the bank's interest-earning and interest expenses, also increased by 25%.

ICICI's Net interest margin increased from 43 basis points and was recorded at 4% year on year.

ICICI Bank's total advances increased by 17% year on year.

Its retail loan book grew by 20% and domestic loan by 19% year on year.

According to Sept 2021 numbers, retail loans account for 62.1% of ICICI Bank's total loan portfolio.

Also, ICICI Bank's business banking portfolio increased by 43% year on year.

SME segment saw a growth of 42% year on year.

The borrowers considered in the SME segment are those who have a turnover of less than 250 crores.

In ICICI Bank's network as of Sept 2021, it has 5277 branches and 14,045 ATMs.

The company's total deposits increased by 17% year on year and reached 9.77 lac crores in this quarter.

As per asset quality, ICICI Bank's NPA (Net Performing Asset) was 0.99%.

In absolute terms, quarter on quarter, its Net NPA decreased by 17% to 8164 crores.

A decrease in Net NPA is a good sign for any bank.

Overall ICICI Bank's profit growth and net interest income beat analyst expectations.

This may be a reason why the share price of ICICI Bank surged.
