[12]
Surat al Tin starts off with Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim ู ุงู„ู„ู‘ูŽู€ู‡ู
[16]
[19]
(I swear) by the fig and the olive According to the scholars there are so many
[25]
opinions as to what the fig and the olive could mean.
[29]
Some have said it means exactly what is said โ€“ tin and zaytoon.
[33]
Some have said it is figuratively and refers to the 2 mountains where these foods are planted,
[40]
one in Syria and the other Jerusalem.
[43]
It also refers to great prophets who were raised in these places.
[48]
Some have said fig refers to the time of Adam and Eve as they had clothes made from fig
[53]
tree leaves and Zaytoon โ€“ the olive refers to the time of Prophet Noah when he sent out
[59]
a pigeon searching for land after the flood and it came back with a small branch from
[64]
an olive tree.
[65]
Some have also said there is an inner interpretation where tin and zaytoon refers to Imam Hasan
[72]
and Imam Hussein (as).
[75]
The next verse says Watoori seeneen
[79]
And by Mount Sinai Mount Sinai is a mountain full of bounties,
[84]
or full of trees and is the same mountain Prophet Musa used to visit.
[90]
Some have said this mountain is near Kufa while others believe it is in Egypt.
[96]
Some have also said the inner interpretation of this verse means Imam Ali bin Abi Talib
[101]
(as) The next verse says
[102]
Wahaadhal baladil ameen
[107]
And by this secure city Al baladil ameen, this secure city refers
[113]
to Mecca.
[114]
This city is especially important in Islam that the people, the animals, trees and birds
[121]
should be left alone in complete security.
[124]
Some have said al baladil ameen refers to the Prophet Muhammad (s) himself.
[131]
Why has Allah swt made an oath by 4 things, the tin, the zaytoon, toori seeneen and al
[140]
baladil ameen.?
[142]
The next verse explains Laqad khalaqnal insaana fee ahsani taqweem
[146]
[150]
Indeed, We have created the human being in the best form
[155]
Taqweem indicates that Allah created the human in the most excellent form physically, spiritually
[161]
and rationally.
[162]
The human has been blessed with the best faculties of thought, knowledge and intellect which
[167]
no other creature has been blessed with.
[170]
It could be said that the 4 oaths are places associated with the Prophets as proof to the
[176]
human having been created in the best form.
[179]
So the verse could indicate we created mankind in such an excellent form that it produced
[185]
humans who attained to the rank of Prophethood and Imamah.
[189]
The next verse says Thumma radadnaahu asfala saafileen ู‘ูŽ
[194]
Then We returned him to the lowest of the
[198]
low Allah has given the human being the potential
[201]
to reach the best of perfection.
[203]
But this same human can use the same faculties and deviate from the path of truth and become
[210]
greedy, selfish, lustful, envious and fall so deep to the lowest possible position even
[218]
lower than the animals.
[220]
Some have said asfala saafileen is the lowest level of all levels in Hell.
[226]
The next verse says Illal-ladhina aamanu wa โ€˜amilus salihaati
[230]
falahum ajrun ghayru mamnoon ุฅูู„ู‘ูŽุง ุงู„ู‘ูŽุฐููŠู†ูŽ ุขู…ูŽู†ููˆุง
[233]
[235]
ู…ูŽู… Except for those who have believed and do
[237]
righteous deeds, for them is a never ending reward.
[242]
This verse indicates that those who believed in Allah and shaped their lives in righteous
[247]
deeds and piety and remained consistent with the best form that Allah had created them,
[253]
then they are the ones worthy of a never ending reward.
[257]
Some have said those who have believed and do righteous deeds are Imam Ali and his followers
[263]
and for them is a never ending reward.
[266]
The next verse says Famaa yukadhibuka baโ€™du biddeen ููŽู…ูŽุง
[270]
After (knowing) this, what makes you still
[274]
disbelieve in the Day of Judgement.
[276]
So Allah is saying after you know the human has been created in the best form but you
[281]
chose to be morally corrupt or you chose to believe and do good deeds, do you actually
[287]
believe you wonโ€™t be judged on the Day of Judgement?
[290]
Do you actually believe they are both equal?
[294]
Even in this world they will be judged for their crimes.
[298]
Some have said the word din has an inner meaning and it means the wilayah of Imam Ali (as).
[305]
Meaning that Imam Ali is the immediate successor and guardian over the people after the passing
[311]
of the Prophet (s) The next verse says
[315]
Alaysal lahu bi ahkamil haakimeen
[320]
Isnโ€™t Allah the Wisest of all judges When someone wrongs you in this world you
[325]
expect a judge or someone to give you justice.
[329]
What about Allah?
[330]
Isnโ€™t Allah the best or all Judges?
[332]
This Surah is so beautiful that we can be interpreted in so many different ways.
[338]
One way of looking at it is by Allah taking an oath by 4 special places were certain special
[345]
Prophets were.
[346]
And these prophets are witnesses and proofs that the human has being created in the best
[351]
form.
[352]
And the human is capable of reaching a high station even higher than the angels by following
[358]
the examples of the Prophets.
[360]
If the human decides to disbelieve and be morally corrupt, then he would have reduced
[365]
himself to the lowest state even lower than the animals.
[370]
So how can you expect the morally corrupt and the believer who does good deeds to be
[375]
the same without any judgement?
[377]
Isnโ€™t Allah the Wisest of all Judges.
[380]
Another way of looking at it through its inner meaning, and that maybe it could mean that
[385]
Allah swears by the fig and the olive, Imam Hasan and Imam Hussein and Turi sineen Imam
[392]
Ali and swears by the secure city who is the Prophet (s) and the people that were obedient
[400]
to them were secure.
[402]
And Allah created humans in the best form and the proof for that is these figures mentioned.
[408]
Those that followed them will have a never ending reward, but those that rejected them
[414]
will be the lowest of the low.
[417]
So what made you reject the din ie the wilyah of Imam Ali while you knew this, to Allah
[425]
you will be judged.
