Channel: Justin Barker - Stock Market Living

[0]
hey justin barker here today i'm going to聽 give you my top 10 alternative etfs that聽聽
[4]
you can buy or look into if you're for looking聽 for other possible investments again i'm just聽聽
[9]
going to give you a high level overview聽 to introduce you to these possibilities聽聽
[12]
along with some of my reasons for potentially聽 choosing them but be sure to do your own research聽聽
[17]
okay quick note if you haven't already hit that聽 red subscribe button it motivates me to keep聽聽
[21]
putting out good videos and 9 out of 10 of you聽 watching have not subscribed so if you did hit聽聽
[26]
that button i thank you for subscribing聽 all right so alternative etf number one聽聽
[31]
a crypto etf and these are in no particular聽 order as i've just been asking myself how聽聽
[37]
i can get some some more exposure and growth聽 outside of the typical stocks and etfs that i聽聽
[42]
normally invest in and so i started looking around聽 at uh you know some different types of investments聽聽
[47]
outside of the mainstream where i could possibly聽 invest some money to get a little more exposure聽聽
[51]
in those areas and also get some better returns聽 and so these are the 10 areas that all seem to聽聽
[57]
have some potential future growth in them and聽 so that's how i came up with this list all right聽聽
[62]
the first one is going to be a crypto etf聽 or a blockchain etf and that is going to be
[70]
the amplify transformational data sharing聽 etf or block blok now um this is an actively聽聽
[78]
managed fund and it's also uh it invests 80% at聽 least 80% of its net assets into companies that聽聽
[85]
are actively involved in the development and use聽 of blockchain technologies and its current top聽聽
[91]
holding is microstrategy but it also has many聽 other companies including paypal and square as聽聽
[96]
some of its other large holdings now uh block it聽 it's returned over 150 percent over the last year聽聽
[103]
as you can see here it's uh it's done really聽 well although it is down looks like over the聽聽
[107]
last few months but um you know this is one to聽 just keep an eye on and you can also search for聽聽
[112]
other crypto etfs as well i haven't purchased this聽 one necessarily but again just looking into it and聽聽
[117]
wanted to share it all right so now what about a聽 bitcoin etf well this one's going to be a pretty聽聽
[123]
quick going i guess you could say because the聽 u.s. has yet to approve uh any specific etf or聽聽
[130]
or for any cryptos there's just no etfs for聽 for cryptos essentially but there are some聽聽
[135]
bitcoin etfs going on in canada and europe聽 but um basically the easiest way to really get聽聽
[142]
any exposure on the american market via聽 a bitcoin etf would be probably to invest聽聽
[147]
in something like this one ark generation or聽 next-generation internet etf which is a cathie wood聽聽
[155]
etf and basically and and the reason you might聽 want to invest in this one is because its top 10聽聽
[160]
holdings are one of its top 10 holdings scroll聽 down here and look at it let's see can we see聽聽
[167]
at 4.13 percent is the grayscale bitcoin trust聽 i know that's not a lot four percent of its聽聽
[174]
total holdings but that's pretty much the only way聽 i can see right now to where you could really get聽聽
[179]
some bitcoin etf going on the american market the聽 grayscale bitcoin trust it's it basically derives聽聽
[186]
its value from bitcoin in a similar way like a聽 gold etf would but i mean other than that again聽聽
[192]
there's not there's there's just really any other聽 options out there at the moment that i could find聽聽
[196]
at least so uh next speaking of gold etfs gold聽 still very popular and a commodity and currency聽聽
[203]
and also as an inflation hedge and the simplest聽 and best way to get invested in it through an etf聽聽
[210]
i would say is probably to just purchase the next聽 one which would be the spdr gold shares gld this聽聽
[218]
etf tracks the the price of gold bullion so聽 gold bullion is basically just the physical聽聽
[222]
gold that's in the form of bars and coins in the聽 over the the counter market and each of these gld聽聽
[229]
uh shares represents one-tenth of an ounce of the聽 price of real gold or one-tenth of the price of a聽聽
[236]
one-ounce bar of gold or or a gold coin so think of聽 something like the the popular one ounce american聽聽
[242]
gold eagle coin 10 shares of gld would equal one聽 of those coins essentially and so when you own聽聽
[249]
gld what it actually represents is a fractional聽 ownership interest in the trust that runs gld and聽聽
[257]
all of their assets are gold bullion the reason聽 why you want to do this basically is an etf聽聽
[262]
over say physical goal is just because it helps聽 eliminate barriers of owning actual physical gold聽聽
[266]
which includes the cost of finding it buying聽 it storing it and all the extra costs and聽聽
[273]
associated with that transaction cost things聽 like that not to mention insuring it and other聽聽
[277]
logistics that come with actually owning physical聽 gold all right so in keeping with this commodity聽聽
[283]
theme we come to copper and copper etfs now聽 copper is one of the oldest metals in the world聽聽
[289]
and it's been used just like gold as an actual聽 currency in the past it's still one of the most聽聽
[295]
widely used metals today and it's often used in聽 in construction and other industrial uses around聽聽
[300]
the world and it's also become very popular as a聽 potential inflation hedge as well just like gold聽聽
[306]
it's just a popular investable asset due to just聽 the increasing demand for raw materials globally聽聽
[312]
especially coming from emerging markets now聽 for investors seeking exposure to copper beyond聽聽
[318]
actually owning physical copper or or through mine聽 some sort of mining company that does it your best聽聽
[323]
alternative really probably just going to be聽 something like this one the the united states聽聽
[327]
copper index fund or cper there's definitely some聽 clean energy etfs to be found and one of them聽聽
[334]
that i did find was the invesco solar etf or聽 tan tan which uh nice play on on the on the聽聽
[342]
words there for the for the symbol um so anyway聽 tan is uh it's basically invests in in solar聽聽
[348]
companies and its largest holding i believe聽 is enphase last i checked let's double check聽聽
[352]
it m phase which is a large solar company based聽 out of california and uh pretty much all of their聽聽
[359]
holdings are going to be uh solar companies so if聽 you wanted to play the clean energy index this is聽聽
[366]
a nice one to take a look at all right be sure to聽 hit that like button and say hi in the comments聽聽
[370]
and let's keep going alright so moving on we have聽 a next gen play and that's going to be 5g etfs聽聽
[378]
and so um you know there's a few decent ones here聽 and pretty much all of them pay dividends and so i聽聽
[383]
just want to walk through a couple of them you聽 want to take advantage of the 5g movement so聽聽
[387]
basically all these etfs they're they're investing聽 in stocks of companies that are helping to develop聽聽
[393]
and deploy 5g technology and first one here is聽 vox or vanguard communication services index fund聽聽
[401]
now basically this is going to be your broadest聽 choice in this space it's going to give you聽聽
[406]
the the most global exposure to pretty much all聽 communication services and applications that are聽聽
[412]
are making use of 5g and it also has a super聽 low fee to go along with it and it's one of the聽聽
[416]
largest etfs on the market so but there's also聽 some other ones like the the benchmark pacer聽聽
[422]
benchmark data and infrastructure real estate etf聽 server srvr now this is a reit and or real estate聽聽
[430]
investment trust so it's going to pay out most of聽 its income in dividends and it basically invests聽聽
[437]
in other reits that own things like data centers聽 or cell phone towers and all of its top holdings聽聽
[443]
are going to be evenly split amongst those and聽 why would you go this route essentially and that's聽聽
[446]
because even though 5g is a wireless signal a lot聽 of physical infrastructure is is required to make聽聽
[453]
it work and so things like data centers and cell聽 phone towers are essentially needed to manage and聽聽
[461]
transmit those uh those 5g signals and so srvr聽 best plays that angle now the smallest 5g etf i聽聽
[469]
saw was next g nxtg it's a newer etf so i mean as聽 you can see it like doesn't even have like any聽聽
[475]
numbers or data volume so maybe it's too small聽 i don't know i didn't dig into it too much but聽聽
[481]
um that's when you could take a look at and then聽 there's also another one fivg this is the defiance聽聽
[487]
5g next-gen connectivity etf so it's uh looks like聽 it's got some better numbers there so a little聽聽
[493]
more volume so you can uh make some trades on聽 that if you wanted or however you want to invest聽聽
[498]
in it all right so i'm just gonna keep moving聽 on here so i had mentioned cathie wood earlier聽聽
[503]
in regards to a bitcoin etf and also in the news聽 recently you've got billionaires going into space聽聽
[509]
and so there's uh the potential there for a聽 possible play in the new space race or possibly聽聽
[515]
a consumer space travel who knows where any of聽 that is going to go but if you're interested in聽聽
[521]
maybe getting ahead on that in a space etf聽 there's not really too much out there but聽聽
[525]
one might be the arkx which again is a cathie wood聽 etf uh actively managed by her and her team i'm聽聽
[531]
just going to read this from what i saw on their聽 website it says it defines space exploration as聽聽
[536]
leading enabling or benefiting from聽 technologically technologically enabled聽聽
[541]
products and services that occur beyond the聽 surface of the earth and so those are the types聽聽
[545]
of companies that arkx invests in and right now聽 its current top holding is trimble but it's got聽聽
[550]
a lot of other things in there such as like 3d聽 printing boeing and even netflix among others聽聽
[556]
now if you're more interested in a passively聽 managed etf or index fund there's also the much聽聽
[563]
smaller procure etf or ufo as you can see聽 again when n/a there's like no data so聽聽
[571]
it's super small you may not even be able to get聽 much going with that so but something to take a look
[576]
at or keep an eye on or put on your watch list聽 who knows where that goes in the future all right聽聽
[580]
let's keep going so um one of the fastest growing聽 tech sectors currently is in cloud computing which聽聽
[586]
is basically saving data to the cloud and allowing聽 you to to access that information instantly from聽聽
[591]
just about anywhere and so what are some good聽 cloud computing etfs that we can look into to聽聽
[596]
to take advantage of of that growth the first one聽 i have on here is skyy skyy again it's a small聽聽
[604]
one a lot of there's a lot of etfs popping up all聽 the time in in in all these spaces something to to聽聽
[609]
keep an eye on if you want to get exposure into聽 that area i believe this uh their current top聽聽
[613]
holding is microsoft which obviously is a cloud聽 computing giant in that space now the cheapest etf聽聽
[620]
that i could find are based the one with the the聽 lowest um expense ratio and also that actually had聽聽
[625]
volume that more active that is the wisdom tree聽 cloud computing fund wcld it's pretty much the聽聽
[631]
most diverse in this space and it's also equally聽 weighted amongst all of its holdings as opposed to聽聽
[638]
a few larger stocks like say microsoft for example聽 getting more of the exposure all right so now we聽聽
[643]
come to spacs which have become very popular in聽 the last few years as more and more money and聽聽
[649]
new investors are piling into the markets and聽 with that some spac etfs have emerged as a new聽聽
[655]
investment tool for us investors to access the ipo聽 market basically spac stands for special purpose聽聽
[660]
acquisition companies and basically they're just聽 shell companies or blank check companies that聽聽
[665]
have no existing operations and their sole purpose聽 for being created is to raise money through an ipo聽聽
[672]
or an initial public offering in order to find and聽 purchase a private company that it'll eventually聽聽
[678]
acquire and so spacs they basically offer the聽 opportunity for retail investors like you and聽聽
[684]
me to who've basically largely been shut聽 out in the past from being able to invest聽聽
[688]
in private companies to invest in pre ipo聽 companies by investing in the spac itself and聽聽
[694]
the spac itself it's just a it's like a public聽 venture capital like firm i guess you could say聽聽
[698]
and with that we get their eventual uh聽 venture capital expertise to find these聽聽
[704]
companies for us and then you know since a lot聽 of individual spacs they're you know there's聽聽
[708]
they're not going to be winners essentially聽 a spac etf is going to give you the diversity聽聽
[713]
by investing in many spacs all at once now the聽 first in this space and the best one i could find聽聽
[721]
i would say is uh it's a passively managed fund聽 that gives you exposure to the entire ipo market聽聽
[727]
again it's pretty it's pretty small doesn't even聽 have average volume on here it's uh it's called聽聽
[732]
the the defiance next gen spac derived etf it聽 pretty much gives you the best way at this point聽聽
[738]
to get returns from both the spac itself and from聽 the stock's potential return after it hits the聽聽
[744]
market right now spak spac its top holdings are聽 lucid motors or lucid group which is essentially聽聽
[753]
you know lucid motors which is the electric car聽 company and also draftkings is one of their top聽聽
[758]
holdings the fantasy sports betting company all聽 right be sure to check out these other videos next聽聽
