All My Credit Cards - How Many Credit Cards Do I Have? Part One - YouTube
Channel: CreditFast
[0]
okay so I have this channel credit
[3]
fast-talking all about credit cards but
[6]
how many credit cards do I actually have
[8]
well that's what I'll be talking about
[11]
today all my credit cards so this is
[19]
going to be a two-parter because I have
[22]
more than just a few
[29]
[Music]
[36]
so these are all my credit cards up
[44]
until doing this video nobody knew how
[47]
many credit cards I had including myself
[51]
I actually thought I had 13 credit cards
[55]
somewhere along the way I lost count
[58]
because my actual number of credit cards
[61]
are 15 and because of that I'm going to
[68]
break up this video into two parts so
[72]
this will be part 1 and I'm going to be
[74]
talking about the first six credit cards
[77]
that I got I always approached it in
[81]
this way I only got cards that I
[85]
actually needed or wanted for a specific
[89]
reason of my credit lines 14 out of the
[94]
15 have no annual fee and they have some
[98]
sort of rewards or benefits attached to
[101]
them so I have a clear reason on why I
[105]
got these cards I think that if I didn't
[111]
have this channel the number that would
[113]
probably be a natural number for me to
[115]
have would be about eight cards but
[119]
because I have to talk about different
[121]
credit card companies I did get more
[124]
than I probably would have if I didn't
[127]
have this channel but still these cards
[130]
for the most part I use my my advice to
[134]
people and how many credit cards they
[135]
need because that that that is a topic
[138]
you find on the internet that people
[139]
search for at the very least have one
[143]
credit card so you can build some credit
[147]
because along the way you don't know
[148]
what you have in store for your future
[151]
and you might need to have some kind of
[154]
established credit but I think I'm
[157]
probably a normal amount for most
[159]
Americans would be three to five and
[161]
then you know some other people they
[164]
really like having different
[166]
types of credit cards and you know I I
[169]
guess I fall into that because each card
[173]
has different perks and benefits and I
[176]
know how to utilize them to get a lot of
[180]
benefits from these credit cards and I'm
[183]
going to be talking about my first six
[186]
credit cards that I got after I went
[191]
through my foreclosure and I had to
[193]
rebuild my credit again so so I have
[197]
talked from time to time that I did go
[200]
through a foreclosure and a lot of
[203]
people probably think since I've been
[204]
involved in the credit industry since
[206]
2002 that I've always been very into
[211]
credit cards but after my foreclosure I
[214]
didn't have a credit card for about five
[217]
years I was frankly sick of it and I
[222]
wasn't going to get a house I didn't see
[224]
a point in having a credit card and I
[227]
even had a friend who said like why
[229]
aren't you rebuilding your credit you're
[230]
still even in a small way you're still
[233]
involved with credit cards why aren't
[235]
you doing what you talked about and that
[239]
frankly I I didn't want a credit card at
[243]
that time and it was about five years
[245]
where I didn't have a credit card at all
[248]
and I didn't even want to go through the
[251]
process of getting some kind of hefty
[253]
fee secured card to rebuild my credit
[255]
because at that point I just really
[257]
didn't I didn't care I had it five years
[262]
I didn't have a credit card and you can
[265]
lift quite easily without them but like
[269]
I said you never know what you have
[271]
planned in your future so you shouldn't
[274]
make it a point to have at least one
[276]
credit card to build a credit so one day
[280]
when I walked to my mailbox
[282]
I saw a invitation offer from Capital
[286]
One for the Capital One Platinum
[288]
MasterCard which is a credit card for
[291]
Fair Credit I couldn't believe it
[293]
because at this point I figured I'd have
[295]
to start with a secured card first but I
[298]
figured why not
[300]
let out see what happens and sure enough
[302]
I got approved for it I actually got a
[306]
Capital One Platinum MasterCard for Fair
[309]
Credit no annual fee and no security
[313]
deposit so this was my first credit card
[316]
after my foreclosure now having this car
[321]
two or three months in I had a customer
[324]
service issue and I had to call customer
[326]
service and this is something I talked a
[328]
lot about in my channel I tell people
[331]
that if you get the Capital One Platinum
[335]
MasterCard
[336]
you can upgrade it so at the end of that
[341]
call the customer service representative
[343]
asked me if I wanted to upgrade my card
[346]
to the Capital One Quicksilver card the
[349]
one with no annual fee so obviously I
[352]
said yes to that and I got this in the
[356]
mail and this is one of the cars I use
[361]
the most I like it because it's just
[364]
pretty much straightforward and simple
[367]
sometimes with cash back credit cards
[369]
you have to earn a certain amount before
[373]
you couldn't redeem your cash back
[374]
rewards with this one I can take any
[378]
amount out so if I wanted to redeem five
[381]
dollars I can do that or what I can do
[384]
is if I had an odd amount like eighty
[387]
three dollars I can use that whole
[389]
amount I don't have to take cash rewards
[392]
in increments of $20 so this one has
[396]
always been very easy and
[397]
straightforward for me and I still use
[400]
this one a lot today okay so six months
[404]
later I got another letter in my mailbox
[407]
an invitation offer and it was for the
[412]
First National Bank of Omaha which
[415]
probably a lot of you don't have but I
[418]
had this one as my second card but the
[422]
thing about this card
[423]
much like the platinum master card from
[426]
Capital One it doesn't have any room
[429]
wars or at least it didn't start with
[432]
rewards one time I did
[434]
call my customer service rep about
[437]
something and I probably said something
[441]
like well I really like this credit card
[443]
too bad it doesn't have rewards so the
[448]
customer service representative said
[450]
well with this card you actually have an
[453]
option to earn rewards so there is a
[456]
reward system with this card you can
[459]
earn rewards with this card you earn one
[463]
point for every dollar and then you can
[467]
redeem it for different merchandise in a
[471]
catalog so I thought that was really
[473]
nice to have some kind of reward program
[477]
associated with it it made me use this
[479]
card a little bit more than I would
[480]
otherwise so if you like me started out
[485]
with this card and you thought it wasn't
[488]
a reward card call customer service
[491]
there is probably something they can do
[494]
about that
[495]
so I would say one week after receiving
[498]
the letter from the First National Bank
[501]
of Omaha I got a another letter from
[505]
Capital One for the Capital One five
[508]
power card which is the GM card so with
[514]
this you can earn five percent rebate
[517]
towards a new car I've had this for a
[520]
while now I really like it but it's kind
[524]
of weird it is actually the credit card
[526]
I have with the lowest credit limit I
[529]
know I don't really talk about my credit
[531]
limits on this channel but I started out
[533]
with a three hundred dollar credit limit
[536]
with this card and then after six months
[538]
they gave me a five hundred dollar
[540]
credit limit and that's where it stands
[543]
today
[543]
I asked once or twice before you know
[546]
for our credit line increase they didn't
[548]
give it to me so I just said well you
[550]
know what I'll just let it go if they
[553]
give me one one day that's fine but as
[555]
it stands this just has a $500 credit
[558]
limit and the interesting thing about
[560]
this one is that every once in a while
[563]
they offer special promotions one of the
[567]
interesting promotion
[567]
they had with this card was they would
[570]
give you $100 rebate if you spent a
[574]
hundred and twenty-five dollars dining
[576]
out during the holiday season so that
[580]
was very easy for me to get done so I
[585]
spent about a hundred twenty-five
[586]
dollars on a couple of dinners and I got
[589]
a hundred dollar rebate so that's what a
[591]
lot of these cards do outside the normal
[593]
structure of earning rewards there'll be
[596]
some kind of special that they're
[598]
offering where you can earn even more
[599]
than than the regular reward rates so a
[603]
hundred dollars for spending one hundred
[605]
twenty-five dollars that I was going to
[606]
spend anyways a good deal but outside of
[610]
that you earn five percent and they do
[612]
cap it this is a good card to have I
[616]
recommend it if your next car will be a
[619]
GM so now I have had what's now the
[623]
Quicksilver card from Capital One for
[626]
one year the Bank of Omaha visa for six
[630]
months and the Capital One buy power
[634]
card for six months so now I know I have
[638]
built up my credit to a decent credit
[641]
score so it is December now and I decide
[644]
that I want to open two new lines of
[648]
credit and they are the best buy Visa
[652]
card and the target red card and I did
[656]
that all in one night and that's one tip
[659]
that I can offer to you and at least I
[662]
found some success with it if you've
[666]
waited awhile and you've built up your
[668]
credit and you haven't applied for
[671]
anything so you're you know your chances
[674]
are going to be good to get a credit
[676]
card that isn't too difficult to get
[679]
approved for which the best buy Visa
[683]
card and the target red card they're
[685]
fairly easy to get approved for what you
[687]
do is if you are certain you want these
[691]
cards apply for them both in the same
[693]
night and that's what I did I first
[695]
applied for the Best Buy Visa card and
[698]
honestly if you want to know that
[701]
this could possibly be my favorite
[704]
credit card that I have just because I
[707]
just like stuff I just like tech stuff I
[711]
like computers I just I like gadgets I
[715]
like cameras like all of it
[718]
but the problem always was I couldn't
[720]
afford those things and that's where the
[723]
best buy Visa card came in for me
[725]
because it allowed me to buy things and
[729]
then paste my payments out and as long
[733]
as I made the payments on time I paid no
[737]
interest so that was the way that I've
[739]
been able to afford to buy a lot of the
[742]
gear that I use to film my videos so the
[745]
best buy Visa Card is pretty much one of
[748]
the most important credit cards that I
[750]
have but you have to really understand
[755]
if you have this card that you need to
[757]
pay the full amount off by the time the
[761]
promotion is over because if you don't
[764]
all the interest that you didn't pay
[768]
will be tacked on onto your next bill
[771]
and that could be a lot of money
[772]
depending on how expensive the item was
[775]
so generally I will buy something and
[778]
then pace out my payments and the latest
[781]
thing that I bought was an Apple watch
[784]
and there's no way I could have bought
[789]
an Apple watch if I didn't have a Best
[791]
Buy Visa Card
[792]
and the promotion they had was it was a
[795]
special Apple event recently and it was
[799]
two years zero interest financing so
[804]
with two years of zero interest
[805]
financing I decided I wanted to get this
[808]
watch and how I make it makes sense for
[811]
me is that I plan to pay $50 a month
[815]
every month until the watch is paid and
[818]
that's more than enough to get this
[821]
watch paid off before two years so
[824]
that's how I have set it up for myself
[828]
so this is the watch this is not the
[831]
band that it came with but one that I
[833]
bought off of Amazon
[835]
I actually bought 11 different bands
[838]
they all ranged between $5 and $20 for
[842]
the leather tight bands but this was so
[846]
much fun because the different bands
[849]
make it a completely different watch
[852]
this is well this was this was the
[854]
latest band that I bought but I have
[856]
another one here but I've linked the two
[860]
bands I've shown you today in the
[863]
description below so if you want to
[864]
check those out there there it's okay so
[868]
I went into Target and I applied and got
[870]
approve of the target red card this is
[873]
the target red card store card it was
[875]
the only store credit card that I had
[878]
out of all the credit cards I had for
[881]
the longest time about a year and a half
[883]
ago
[883]
I got a letter in the mail asking me if
[886]
I wanted to convert this card to this
[889]
card and I accepted that offer now I did
[893]
a video on it and I talked about how it
[896]
was strictly an invitation only offer
[899]
that you got through the mail it was not
[901]
something you could call Target about
[903]
and asked for it
[905]
so recently I talked to a target red
[908]
card associate on the phone and they
[911]
told me that right now they have not
[915]
been offering the target red card
[918]
MasterCard but don't worry they'll
[921]
probably do it again where they'll offer
[924]
the MasterCard but right now they're not
[927]
and you're not losing out too much
[930]
because there are no rewards to this
[933]
MasterCard the only benefit is that you
[936]
can use this card outside of Target so
[940]
the target red card is actually one of
[942]
my favorite credit cards because we all
[945]
need to buy stuff everyday things and
[948]
with Target you get a straight 5 percent
[951]
off all your purchases even if the items
[954]
are on clearance for 75% off trust me I
[958]
know 75% off you'll also get an extra 5%
[963]
off so this makes it a great card I know
[966]
a lot of you guys like the
[968]
artstor card and if you're a regular
[970]
shopper there it's probably gonna be
[972]
making a lot of sense to you but for me
[975]
I don't have it it's not one of my 15 I
[979]
prefer the target red card just because
[982]
it's an easy straight forward 5% off on
[986]
all your purchases all right so the last
[992]
credit card I will be talking about the
[994]
sixth credit card I got was the Amazon
[998]
Visa card and I didn't plan on getting
[1001]
this one I had already just applied and
[1005]
got approved for the Best Buy visa and
[1007]
the target red card I wasn't planning on
[1010]
getting anything I was going to put a
[1012]
pause but I needed to buy something on
[1015]
Amazon and it was kind of expensive and
[1019]
when you apply and get approved they
[1021]
give you a major discount so I went
[1025]
ahead and I applied for it now there is
[1028]
a thing that people know about with
[1031]
Chase it's call to chase 5:24 rule where
[1034]
you cannot apply it for five credit
[1037]
cards within 24 months if you try to
[1039]
apply for certain chase cards you will
[1042]
not get approved five credit cards
[1044]
within 24 months so this is the
[1047]
interesting thing about the chase 5:24
[1049]
rule is that I've read a lot about it on
[1052]
the internet and now it's starting to
[1054]
get hazy because some sites will say
[1057]
okay this this credit card is not
[1059]
impacted but this Chase credit card is
[1063]
I've been hearing things about the chase
[1065]
Amazon Visa card that it is impacted by
[1069]
Chase 5:24 overall but I'm holding it
[1073]
now this was credit card number six so
[1077]
for me the Chase 5:24 role did not apply
[1083]
when I applied one thing I wanted to
[1088]
mention about amazon.com and you don't
[1091]
need an Amazon Visa card to do this you
[1093]
just need a credit card
[1095]
sometimes they offer a special $10
[1099]
credit if you buy a one
[1102]
dollar gift card so instead of getting
[1105]
$100 you get a hundred and ten I
[1107]
recently took advantage of this they
[1109]
offer this every now and then so I did
[1114]
it this time and it was very easy so
[1116]
it's like getting 10% rewards on buying
[1121]
$100 so you're getting 110 for spending
[1125]
a hundred I just wanted to let you know
[1126]
that and you can use any credit card to
[1130]
get this you don't need to use your
[1132]
Amazon visa for it so those were the
[1135]
first six credit cards that helped me
[1138]
rebuild my credit and there's some of my
[1140]
favorite credit cards that I still use
[1142]
today
[1143]
so what credit cards do you have in your
[1146]
wallet right now that are your favorites
[1148]
tell us in the comment section below and
[1150]
tell us why we should get these cards
[1153]
thank you so much until next time
