Channel: Milton Chiropractic Clinic Cambridge
[0]
hi uh i'm sure some of you know what i'm
[3]
talking about if i talk about a buffalo
[6]
hump or a neck hump or a dowager's hump
[9]
and it's essentially a hump that you can
[11]
have at the the base of your of your
[14]
spine and all it is is uh it's a deposit
[17]
of fatty tissue
[19]
but it's lay there to protect the spine
[21]
and the reason why their bodies lay that
[23]
fatty tissue there is because people
[25]
have got faulty posture so they have
[27]
rounded shoulders they have the chin
[30]
sticking forward there's too much
[32]
pressure going on on this area here and
[34]
that can give you a buffalo hump or a
[36]
neck hump
[39]
now the good news is there's something
[41]
you can do about it and i'll give you
[42]
three really simple very effective
[44]
exercises for you to help you with it
[46]
shouldn't take too long it's persistency
[48]
that that's the key um but the first
[51]
thing you need to do is sort out your
[52]
posture so make sure you're nice and and
[54]
upright shoulders back chin in so you
[56]
don't create that constant tension on
[58]
this on this area there um okay so
[61]
before i continue with the exercises um
[63]
i really enjoy making these videos for
[65]
you but if you could just help me out
[66]
and just like it or comment in the box
[68]
below i really really would would
[70]
appreciate appreciate it um okay so the
[72]
first exercise is a
[74]
ywtl exercise and essentially what we're
[77]
trying to do is to stretch out
[79]
straighten out the whole thoracic spine
[81]
from the top to the bottom and it's very
[83]
very simple so what you do you raise
[85]
your arms in the air hand palms facing
[88]
forward arms in the air and you really
[90]
pull your arms backwards keep your
[92]
elbows straight pull your arms backwards
[94]
and hold this for about 30 seconds if
[96]
you can and then from the y from the y
[99]
position we go to the w position so this
[102]
is w position so you pull your arms back
[105]
and make sure your elbows are pointing
[106]
down and the same thing hold this for
[109]
about 30 seconds
[111]
now after 30 seconds you spread out your
[113]
arms elbows or your palms still facing
[115]
forward so you make a t ywt so again
[119]
putting your arms back again
[121]
and 30 seconds and then we're going down
[123]
to the l elbows in the side
[126]
arms out and really pull your
[128]
arms
[129]
your forearms back and that's an l
[132]
position and again hold that for uh
[134]
about 30 seconds so that's exercise
[136]
number one why
[138]
wtl really good exercise to get rid of
[142]
that
[143]
dow just hump
[145]
in the back of your neck the second
[147]
exercise i'd like to show you
[149]
for the neck hump the buffalo hump very
[152]
effective as well simple again and
[154]
effective um what you need to do is
[157]
place your hands behind your back grab
[159]
your wrist
[161]
pull your arms
[162]
straighten your elbows and pull your
[164]
arms back make sure you squeeze your
[165]
shoulder blades together and then you
[167]
tilt your head back
[169]
and you hold this for about 30 seconds
[171]
and whilst you're tilting back you're
[173]
breathing out
[180]
my final exercise to combat the neck
[183]
hump or the buffalo hump is probably one
[185]
of my one of my favorites a simple
[188]
exercise to do all you need is a is a
[190]
wall so make sure in this case do the
[192]
right arm slide the hand
[195]
up on the wall make sure it's nice and
[196]
high don't do it here make sure your
[198]
hands really arms really high up and
[201]
then what you need to do is you need to
[202]
in this case right arms up i'm going to
[204]
turn to my right and we're going to tilt
[207]
my head backwards another to rest here
[209]
for about 15 seconds before i come back
[213]
again and again turn to the right and
[216]
tilt backwards and hold this for about
[218]
15 seconds now make sure you don't get
[220]
dizzy be careful with this it's a really
[223]
really really good exercise that's one
[225]
side and obviously you need to do the
[227]
other side as well so left arm up and
[229]
i'm turning to the left and i'm tilting
[232]
my head backwards and hold this for
[234]
about
[235]
10 to 15 seconds really good exercise
[238]
probably one of my favorites and it's
[240]
very specifically targets that area of
[242]
your neck where you have that bit of a
[243]
of a hump
[245]
often people who experience a neck hump
[248]
or a buffalo hump
[250]
