Hi Nasia Davos here in this video we'll talk about the CBQ method maybe you've
[6]
come across the name or you know someone who quit with the CBQ or you know
[11]
about its 4 stages or maybe you even know some techniques and practices from
[16]
this method. But you're still not sure exactly what the CBQ method is how it
[23]
works or why it can help you. So that's what we're going to answer today to help
[29]
you put everything in context and use the CBT method so you can quit smoking
[33]
for good. So what is the CBQ method? CBQ stands for Cognitive Behavioral
[41]
Quitting. The CBQ method is a natural four stage method that helps you
[47]
overcome your mental dependence on smoking. Your mental dependence on
[51]
smoking which is 80 percent of the smoking addiction is your desire or need for
[57]
cigarettes. In other words how smoking makes you feel and how much you believe
[62]
you need it. And the CBQ method helps you overcome that. Specifically cognitive
[68]
is about what you do with your mind to quit like understanding why you smoke
[73]
and changing how you think and feel about smoking and behavioral is about
[79]
changing your smoking behavior and breaking the habit. Now the CBQ method
[84]
has been developed by my team and I over years of research and testing to help
[89]
you overcome your mental dependence on smoking so you can quit without anxiety
[94]
without feeling deprived without gaining weight relapsing or using willpower
[99]
medication or substitutes and really the goal is to go from a smoker to a happy
[105]
nonsmoker. The CBQ method is based on CBT which is cognitive behavioral
[110]
therapy but we have customized it to addictions and habits based on our
[115]
findings and have also enriched it with Neuro Linguistic Programming and
[119]
Neuroscience. So how does the CBQ help you overcome the mental dependence
[125]
of smoking? Well it does that because it follows the exact 4 stages that our
[131]
brain gets attached or detached from a habit or an addiction.
[135]
Yes the 4 stages of the CBQ method are the exact 4 stages that your
[141]
brain gets attached or detached from a habit or an addiction. Also these are the
[147]
exact 4 stages you went through when you first got addicted to smoking. I will
[153]
explain how in a bit. And following the same 4 stages in the right
[158]
sequence without skipping any stage breaks your mental dependence on smoking
[163]
now the name of every stage starts with a letter C so a simple way to remember
[168]
them is by calling them the 4C's. Now I'll just name the stages but if you
[174]
want to learn what about them check the links below this video okay so the first
[179]
stage c1 is Choose to quit this stage prepares you to quit so you can make a
[186]
real decision and commit to quitting smoking. The second stage c2 is Cultivate
[193]
your potential and crush the fear of quitting in this stage you remove the
[198]
fears that stop you from becoming a nonsmoker so you can believe that
[202]
quitting is possible and believe that you can do it that you can quit. Then the
[207]
third stage c3 is Change your smoking pattern on this stage you break your
[212]
smoking habit overcome the desire for smoking and smoke your last cigarette
[217]
and a big part of this stage is knowing how to cope with your cravings and
[222]
emotions without smoking. And the last stage c4 is Condition your smoke-free
[227]
life this stage is about remaining a happy nonsmoker without feeling deprived
[233]
or relapsing and here's the thing like I mentioned a few moments ago the 4
[239]
stages of the CBQ are the same stages you went through when you became a smoker
[244]
you probably weren't aware of it at the time but think about it you first chose
[250]
to try cigarettes and later you chose to buy your own pack. That's stage 1. Now
[256]
after you bought your own pack you started cultivating this habit in other
[261]
words you started thinking of yourself as a smoker and started smoking
[265]
on social occasions or with a friend so what happened is that you removed the
[270]
fear of becoming a smoker. That's stage 2. Now when you removed the fear of becoming
[276]
a smoker you changed your smoking pattern and went from smoking on social
[281]
occasions to smoking habitually on a daily basis. That's stage 3. And since then
[287]
you've been conditioning your mind and body to get used to smoking and to help
[292]
you cope in certain situations. That's the last stage stage 4. So now that you
[298]
want to stop smoking all you have to do is go through these stages again and you
[303]
will quit so the CBQ method can help you quit smoking by overcoming your
[309]
mental dependence from smoking and to overcome the mental dependence follow
[313]
the 4 quit smoking stages of the CBQ method, thanks for watching.
