handful of long-haul truck drivers what

did they have to say they had a lot to

say Chris you might actually be

surprised to find out that trucking is a

seven hundred twenty five billion dollar

industry and one in 16 jobs in the u.s.

goes to a trucker but this particular
[48]
group who I spoke to in Jackson Georgia
[51]
they say the promises made by the
[53]
President to put them first weren't
[55]
exactly the promises kept
[57]
so they started a protest and are now
[59]
sounding the alarm that the Rosi
[61]
economic picture the president is now
[63]
painting is not exactly what they're
[65]
seeing through the windshield after
[70]
working as a truck driver for 20 years
[73]
Billy bogar is thinking of calling it
[76]
quits how hard are things for truckers
[78]
right

impossible now he's one of thousands of
[82]
truck drivers throughout the country
[84]
hoping to get the White House's
[86]
attention with a new protest group
[88]
called black smoke matters named after
[92]
the exhaust smoke that used to come from

big rigs do you feel like this

administration is listening to you as
[98]
truckers a mix of Republicans Democrats
[103]
and independents how many of you voted
[106]
for the president in the last election

one two three many of their complaints

are unique to trucking like parking
[113]
costs and a lack of training for new
[115]
drivers you'll receive but they say some
[118]
of their issues affect all Americans
[120]
like the republican-led tax bill how

many of you by a show of hands saw your
[125]
taxes increase this year okay one two
[129]
this year they won't see all of you so
[132]
most of you saw your taxes increase the
[135]
reason something called a per diem in
[138]
the past
[139]
truckers could deduct things like food
[141]
and daily expenses from their taxable
[143]
income
[144]
now with Trump's new tax bill they no
[146]
longer can I have a young family at home
[149]
and with our per diem they took the per
[151]
diem out that made an eight thousand
[153]
dollar difference eight thousand Aleppo
[155]
so what were you paying in taxes last
[157]
nothing a hit that comes especially hard

after promises made by the president

America first means putting American
[167]
truckers first you said you also believe
[170]
the president would help truckers do you
[171]
think he's doing a good job now no I
[173]
don't I mean there's nothing that he's
[175]
doing too

help us out out here in any way possible

I mean no mr. Trump run on the platform

have done away with Obama bad regulation

well he quite well done that for I'm
[188]
gonna say corporate America but us
[190]
blue-collar America we've got
[192]
regulations that we have when Obama was

in office I would like to ask him why

didn't he do away with the bad
[198]
regulations for us the independent
[200]
owner/operator a trend they say should
[202]
be concerning for everyone have you all
[205]
ever thought about quitting every day we
[210]
want the American Dream we want to be
[212]
part of having to be able to strive to
[215]
do better to take care of our families
[217]
and do a good a good job for the
[219]
American people the American Dream is

getting further away every unattainable
[224]
yeah whether you're at home or on the
[227]
road eight pounds dollars Wow Morgan so

what is the White House said about all
[233]
of this especially about those / dams so
[235]
the White House said that based on
[237]
recent rate cuts as well as enhanced
[239]
child tax credits it should basically
[241]
off said the need for those deductions
[243]
but they said they are willing to work
[245]
with Congress to help any of those
[247]
truckers who are seeing those lack of
[249]
deduct that's a lot of money I'm curious

if any of the three who say they voted
[252]
for Trump will vote for him again
[253]
they said they Durst certainly do not
[255]
think that he is going to have their
[256]
vote but they are still waiting to see
[257]
