What Is A Retail Trader In Forex Trading? - YouTube

Channel: unknown

[0]
hi there manuel here and today i want to talk聽 about um retail traders i actually want to talk聽聽
[5]
about what is a retail trader and sort of the聽 difference between a retail trader and what we聽聽
[10]
do which is called smart money it's kind of smart聽 money trading we trade or we try to identify what聽聽
[17]
the banks are doing and then ride the coattails聽 of the banks you know so in essence though聽聽
[24]
let's be honest we are all retail traders the聽 only people that have enough money to move a聽聽
[29]
market to actually force the market to move in聽 whichever direction they want it to move are聽聽
[34]
banks or super super rich traders you know like i聽 don't know elon musk or warren buffett those sort聽聽
[42]
of people that can put millions into a market聽 and make it move in the direction they want to聽聽
[46]
most of us know we've got to kind of just follow聽 the direct hopefully we guess it right and we聽聽
[52]
follow the direction that the market's already聽 moving in you know that's more what a retail聽聽
[57]
trader does it's a more of a small trader you know聽 i mean to get a market to do this sort of a move聽聽
[63]
this big move down like that that's banks pushing聽 money into that selling the price off or you know聽聽
[69]
or like i said a really really rich trader that's聽 millions this cos this is millions and millions of聽聽
[74]
dollars being pumped into this to push this price聽 down your everyday trader isn't going to have that聽聽
[80]
you know your everyday trader is trading in i聽 don't know 10 10 pound a point maybe fifty ten聽聽
[86]
dollars a point maybe fifty dollars a point you聽 know they're not trading in two million dollars or聽聽
[90]
three million dollars a point you know so that's聽 that's big that's retail i mean that's um banks聽聽
[97]
doing stuff like that but a retail trader so the聽 definition for me of a retail trader it's usually聽聽
[104]
a person that follows certain patterns i'm going聽 to show you all the patterns that you're usually聽聽
[110]
taught when you first come into this it's usually聽 also a person that stays on one time frame i'm聽聽
[115]
going to tell you about myself when i first got聽 into trading and i done i done a course with my聽聽
[120]
sister that actually cost me a lot of money聽 actually ended up costing us 30 000 pounds聽聽
[126]
which is forty thousand dollars and it taught聽 us all these patterns you know i'll show you聽聽
[130]
the patterns in a second and you know and that's聽 what most people do when they get involved in this聽聽
[136]
so retail trader follows all these patterns they聽 trade off all these patterns support resistance um聽聽
[142]
highs and low i mean double tops double bottoms聽 all this sort of stuff consolidation you know聽聽
[147]
like that this sort of stuff when it next touches聽 the tops you you sell when it touches the bottom聽聽
[152]
you buy you know all these sorts of things and聽 they usually stay on one time frame like we were聽聽
[159]
we were talk to to trade off the daily time聽 frame and we were what we call position trading聽聽
[166]
so we'll get a trade and you'd probably hold聽 it you'd hold it for a week two to three weeks聽聽
[172]
and another thing with the retail trader is聽 your risk to rewards are usually quite small聽聽
[177]
you know what we were taught say for example聽 we were taught like say let me just put this聽聽
[183]
on here say i was going to sell this so聽 short position so i was going to sell this
[190]
you know say this there's something something聽 something like that so i was going to sell there聽聽
[193]
my stop loss would be there so that's the amount聽 and i would want it to go to there something like聽聽
[199]
that but i'd be waiting i don't know a week maybe聽 two weeks if i'm lucky to get a one to three yeah聽聽
[206]
so you can see not saying it doesn't聽 work you can see it's quite slow聽聽
[211]
now and usually they only stay on one聽 time frame you know and another thing聽聽
[215]
with a retail trader usually they don't聽 spend any time at all on their mindset聽聽
[221]
you know when they get a trade they live or聽 die by each and every trade so they get a聽聽
[225]
trade right and they're kind of doing the dance聽 and they're like yes i'm a trader i'm gonna make聽聽
[229]
my lamborghini i'm ready i'm gonna buy my house聽 i'm gonna go and live in miami or whatever it is聽聽
[236]
and when they lose a trade they're like oh my聽 god you know i'm not getting it right where am i聽聽
[239]
going wrong where am i going wrong they spend zero聽 time on their mindset there's a zero time thinking聽聽
[245]
that you know this is this is a it's a long term聽 strategy thing it's not win one trade and you and聽聽
[251]
you become a millionaire sort of thing so you need聽 to also spend time on your mindset you know which聽聽
[256]
most retail traders don't they they they live and聽 die by their trades and when they get a few trades聽聽
[261]
wrong they're either thinking right i'm ready聽 to give this up or they're looking for the next聽聽
[266]
the next um program the next person over there聽 that told them that they win all of their trades聽聽
[272]
so that's really my definition of a retail聽 trader they usually stay on one time frame聽聽
[277]
i'm gonna move this to four hour they usually聽 stay on one time frame they trade off these pa聽聽
[282]
certain patterns i'm going to show you and they聽 spend zero time on their mindset so when you get聽聽
[287]
into trading really as a retail trader you're聽 usually given all these patterns here let me聽聽
[292]
go through all of them so here we go we've got oh聽 that's too big there we go we got the double tops聽聽
[299]
you know something like that i don't know if i聽 can show you on the chart but say it would be聽聽
[304]
something along this lines there's something one聽 sort of two this kind of there's not it's not as聽聽
[309]
equal as it as it is on this chart but something聽 along those lines head and shoulders yeah so like聽聽
[314]
that's what you say head and shoulders you buy on聽 this line what they call the neckline rising wedge聽聽
[320]
or flag sometimes it's called price titans up聽 and then you you expect price to go down double聽聽
[329]
double buttons just like the double聽 tops again hits double times comes up聽聽
[333]
head and shoulders the other way falling聽 wedge flag going down expecting price to go up聽聽
[338]
continuation patterns these these wedges again聽聽
[342]
goes down goes up bullish patterns head and聽 shoulde you know like this pattern i showed you聽聽
[347]
on the chart this one is very very clear this time聽 this here boom expecting it to blast out one way聽聽
[356]
with this one you know they say it's聽 come up go sideways and then continues up聽聽
[360]
bullish pennant all this sort of stuff聽 wedges penance descending triangles all聽聽
[367]
this sort of stuff these are the patterns聽 that you're gonna go you go on to the chart聽聽
[371]
you look for these patterns and as well as聽 that you usually as a retail trader also have聽聽
[377]
indicators let me show you my other charts this聽 is what the charts look like when i used to trade聽聽
[382]
you have this in all i mean you can barely see聽 the price here it's just so messy you know um聽聽
[390]
and it's just it's just horrible to look at you聽 know what i mean and usually with indicators聽聽
[395]
here's the thing indicators are usually lagging so聽 what that means is that once the price has already聽聽
[403]
moved and the indicator is telling you yeah yeah聽 get ready now because it's about to get ready now聽聽
[407]
because it's about to move but it's gone the price聽 has already gone it's too late it's all gone yeah聽聽
[413]
so you know that's tonight that's another thing聽 about about retail trading you know so but does it聽聽
[419]
work does retail trading work well yeah of course聽 it has to think of a casino imagine you went into聽聽
[426]
a casino and every single time you went into聽 the casino you lost eventually you wouldn't go聽聽
[432]
but here's the thing what they say is they have to聽 give you one win out of six one win out of six is聽聽
[438]
enough to keep you going to keep you in the game聽 you know that's even in gambling as well roulette聽聽
[444]
all of this sort of stuff you need one win at聽 six so you could lose five of your trades and as聽聽
[449]
long as you get one even if it's a small win that聽 doesn't cancel out all your losses that's enough聽聽
[454]
to keep the juices going to keep you getting back聽 on and continuing to lose your money you know聽聽
[461]
and another thing is that one win is usually聽 quite a small win compared to all the losses聽聽
[467]
that you have do you mean because like i said i聽 mean like i showed you one to three would have聽聽
[471]
to be waiting two weeks to do that you know when聽 you start to learn this stuff properly and start聽聽
[477]
to see things like i've showed you in my other聽 in my other videos and you start to see the way聽聽
[481]
that the banks trade because they have to leave a聽 footprint and then you start to follow the bank so聽聽
[487]
you become what we call you know a smart money聽 trader and you bought and you catch moves like聽聽
[492]
this this is a one two i don't even know what this聽 is one to let's see if we if we caught this move聽聽
[498]
let me just have a quick look here and let me show聽 you uh short position yeah just imagine we caught聽聽
[504]
this move here so now instead of catching a one聽 to three we call we call even just up to there聽聽
[512]
that's a one to eight and that happened in this聽 is four hours this happens in less than two days聽聽
[519]
all right so you can see the difference when you聽 start to see the smart money concepts and start聽聽
[523]
to understand them you start to see the difference聽 and you can start to kind of make these risks to聽聽
[527]
rewards this is like what i'm saying the people聽 that i trade with some of them make one to five聽聽
[532]
you know 10 in a day some one to ten some one to聽 forty in a day in one trade risking two percent聽聽
[539]
of your account to make these sorts of returns聽 do you know what i mean and they're not over聽聽
[543]
leveraging what by that i mean they're not they're聽 not like risking tons and tons of their money all聽聽
[548]
this sort of money there to make these little聽 these little um moves two percent of the account聽聽
[553]
but if you catch it at the right place and you聽 know what you're doing smart money concepts聽聽
[557]
you can make these sorts of returns you know聽 so i hope you understand the difference then聽聽
[562]
the difference between the retail trader who聽 stays on one time frame usually as well you聽聽
[567]
know with smart money you fish about you go聽 to different time frames you try and find the聽聽
[571]
best looking candles the best looking you know聽 moves that gives you the most risk to reward聽聽
[579]
another thing they use tons of indicators you聽 know they put indicators all over the charts聽聽
[583]
hardly sometimes you can't even see the price聽 action smart money a lot of the time it's just raw聽聽
[588]
trading it's what is you can see the patterns you聽 know it's the directions that the banks are taking聽聽
[593]
things you know another thing they had they spend聽 zero time on their mindset very very important in聽聽
[598]
fact 90 of the best traders in the world it's聽 not even about their strategy it's about their聽聽
[604]
mindsets about knowing they know even when they聽 have a loser it doesn't matter we've never had the聽聽
[610]
winner they're not like you know suddenly thinking聽 about the lamborghinis they're gonna buy you know聽聽
[615]
same emotions they're almost like robotic traders聽 and in fact when you get really really good at聽聽
[619]
trading it's actually quite boring to be honest do聽 you mean you don't get the buzzers you don't get聽聽
[624]
the highs and the lows you know they're a retail聽 trade that does you know so anyway listen i hope聽聽
[630]
you got some value from this i hope this helped聽 you you know a little a little bit if you do聽聽
[633]
want to get see the exact way that we trade to get聽 these sorts of risks to rewards to do smart money聽聽
[639]
trading and and follow the coattails of the banks聽 with the banker strategy then i am going to be聽聽
