a vocational qualification required to work
[36]
as a skilled worker is called Ausbildung
[40]
there are 330 vocational professions in Germany
[45]
these include nurses, teachers, bankers
[51]
as well as carpenters, technicians, social workers,
[54]
IT support specialist etc
[57]
Germans work in these professions through ausbildung
[63]
it takes between 2 and 4 years to complete ausbildung
[68]
Why Ausbildung?
[70]
According to 2019 employment statistics
[73]
ausbildung based skilled professions are in high
[76]
demand than highly skilled workers
[81]
After Ausbildung you can look for a job at a German company
[86]
as well as start your own business if
[89]
you clear the master craftsmanship exam
[92]
the minimum requirement depends upon the
[97]
grade (class) when you left school
[101]
in case you are wondering, I have
[105]
previously made a video on these
[107]
you can either click on the info card now or check out the link in the description box
[113]
next i shall be telling the 3 types of ausbildung and explain
[117]
its process through an occupation so that
[120]
you can understand it better
[122]
First one is Duales Ausbildung or Dual Vocational Training
[127]
here your studies and training goes hand in hand
[133]
we learn the theory at a vocational school called Berufsschule
[138]
and training at a training company called 'Ausbildungsbetrieb'
[147]
From day 1 we get an opportunity to apply the skills in training
[153]
at the end there shall be a written and a practical exam
[158]
upon completion one shall acquire 3 certificates
[163]
1. exam certificate with grades
[167]
2. vocational certificate and 3. training certificate
[171]
The duration is between 2 and 3.5 years. Next I
[177]
shall be showing you an occupation that can
[180]
be done with this type of qualification
[183]
An example is automobile technician
[187]
in German its called Kfz mechatroniker
[191]
this job finds its way at car repair shops, service
[195]
stations, rental car fleet etc
[199]
the minimum requirement is 9th pass
[204]
there is theory as well as practical. A certain number
[208]
of days in a week shall be allocated for theory and practical
[214]
You shall be learning about cars in general in the first 2 years
[218]
mostly basic things one needs to know about a car
[221]
instructions on how to find a fault
[225]
on an individual component and fix it
[228]
as well about the electronics in a car
[232]
and dealing with customers, placing an order
[235]
is what shall be learnt in the first 2 years
[238]
in the remaining 1.5 years one can decide
[241]
upon what to specialise. These include passenger car
[244]
technology, commercial vehicle technology,
[248]
motorcycle technology, bodywork technology etc
[252]
You are paid around 850€, 900€, 950€ and 1000€
[258]
in the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4rd year respectively
[262]
this can vary depending upon the company,
[265]
its location etc but as an average you can expect this amount.
[270]
The second type is schulische ausbildung. People wanting to
[273]
work in the health and social services sector do this ausbildung
[277]
Its duration is upto 3 years
[281]
an example profession in this type of ausbildung is
[286]
Pflegefachfrau/Pflegefachmann
[290]
in English its known as Nursing Specialist
[293]
Previously these were specific ausbildung courses like
[297]
general, paediatric, geriatric nursing etc
[301]
However, since Jan 2020 they are now bundled into
[305]
one single course called Pflegefachfrau/mann
[308]
To be eligible you need a 10th pass certificate
[315]
Upon completion one can work in a hospital, retirement homes,
[318]
health centres, outpatient services etc
[323]
During the first 2 years you shall be learning the categories that
[329]
I mentioned such as general, geriatric, paediatric nursing
[335]
and in the last year you can specialise in a particular field
[341]
or even earn a general nursing qualification
[344]
You shall also get a stipend which is
[348]
1150€, 1200€, 1300€ in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year respectively
[354]
The last type of ausbildung is Dual Studium or Dual Studies
[359]
in addition to studying at a Uni or FH, you shall be undergoing a
[363]
training at a company relevant to your chosen study.
[367]
This combined course structure is called Dual Study.
[372]
since its a study at a university the minimum
[376]
requirement to enter is Abitur
[380]
there are two types within Dual Study
[384]
1. Vocational Integrated and 2. Practical Integrated
[390]
let's begin from vocational integrated dual study program
[394]
here, in addition to studying at a university you
[397]
are enrolled for a vocational course as well
[400]
at the end you are awarded with a university
[404]
degree and vocational qualification
[407]
During the course, the student shall attend the university,
[412]
vocational school and training company in a timely manner
[417]
despite the workload, if managed well you are
[422]
awarded with a double degree
[425]
next is practical integrated dual study program
[428]
as the name suggests, it is more practically focussed
[432]
it consists of study at a university and a practical training
[436]
at the end you are awarded with a university
[442]
degree and a training certificate
[446]
an example profession is social worker
[451]
here you are dealing with sensitive people or
[455]
integrating socially distracted people back to normal
[460]
as well as assisting people encountered with problems,
[464]
social history etc are few aspects that you shall be learning
[468]
The pay goes as follows: 1000€ 1050€
[473]
1100€ 1150€ in the first, second,
[477]
third, and final year respectively
[481]
Probably you might be thinking on whether a
[484]
non-eu can apply for an ausbildung?
[488]
Non EU citizens can also apply for a place
[492]
Now we shall see the application procedure
[496]
Firstly German language at least level B1
[499]
or level B2 for health and social services sector
[503]
secondly, get your school leaving certificates recognized
[508]
for this you need to decide upon where (city)
[511]
you are planning to do your ausbildung
[514]
and apply at the chamber in that city accordingly
[519]
for this we need to translate the certificates at first and then
[522]
submit for recognition. There is also a fee which is 120€.
[527]
In the provided link to anabin website you can find
[532]
out where to submit
[534]
Third step is to find a vocational course
[537]
there are 2 websites whose links are
[540]
given in the description box
[543]
Then you need to apply for a visa
[546]
applied under Training in Germany category
[550]
at the time of application, you need a
[554]
confirmation from a training company
[556]
which also includes information on your salary.
[560]
Also, you need to show proof of finance for your stay here.
[566]
on an average this shall be around 650 - 700€.
[571]
You also need a German health insurance
[575]
there are 2 ways by which your visa is processed
[580]
if it is school based vocational training
[583]
your visa is processed normally
[586]
on the other hand if it is a dual ausbildung
[590]
the employment agency shall first check if
[594]
a German has applied for it
[597]
then Eu citizen. You shall then
[601]
get the visa if none has applied for it.
[606]
It takes between 2-3 months to process the visa
[611]
so keep this mind while applying for an ausbildung.
