Hello Guys, Welcome back to Hum Tum In England. I am Gaurav.
[3]
Today's video is really a very important one as we get lots of questions...
[8]
that how international students can get PR or What is the route to PR for them in UK
[13]
What is the step by step process to get PR here
[17]
I am also going to share some key information on PSW as well
[21]
and what documentation will be required for applying PSW
[25]
so make sure you watch this video till the end to get all the information on PR route for International Students in UK and PSW documents, So Let's start this video
[43]
so let's start this video
[45]
Most of the students who are coming to the UK to study want to settle here and get PR. But some student also come for the quality education you get here
[56]
PR is Permanent Residency and how would you get it? Does your PSW counts towards PR or not !!
[66]
I will be sharing detailed information on PSW and the full process to apply PSW.
[74]
So the first step is to enter UK as a student, you will take admission in either undergrad, postgrad or PHD courses.
[83]
Once you start your course your next step would be to finish your course in time.
[91]
If your course is of 1 year then try to finish in 1 year and if for 2 years then similarly try to finish in 2 years.
[96]
If you don't finish your course in time then you will need to get the letter from the university again to extend your visa.
[105]
You will have to pay the visa fee and IHS fee again for visa extension and in some cases University fees as well, so try to keep these things in mind.
[112]
Lets talk about the next step, so you have finished your studies and got the degree from here.
[119]
The next step is to apply for PSW which is post study work visa after finishing your studies.
[123]
It would be better if you try to get internships for your last semester while studying.
[128]
Completing internships or dissertations in a company can help you to get jobs in the same company.
[139]
If you don't get that opportunity then make sure to make the most of your 2 years of PSW visa.
[146]
Before talking about how to make the most of PSW, let me tell you some key information on PSW.
[152]
These are the key information on PSW which i wanted to share with you.
[157]
First point is that whoever complete their Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PHD will be eligible to apply for PSW.
[165]
Secondly, students will need to be in the UK and hold a valid Tier 4 student visa to apply for PSW.
[171]
Next point is that you will not be required to demonstrate english ability so no IELTS will be required for PSW.
[176]
Also, you will not be required to provide evidence of finances. You only need to arrange the fees for PSW.
[187]
Next important point is that students will not automatically grated PSW, you will need to make a separate application and also pay IHS at full rate.
[204]
So for 2 year of PSW you will pay 2X 624 pounds plus 700 pounds application fee when you make the application, so try to save this money while studying.
[213]
Next point is that your visa will allow you to work full time in most jobs including self employment but excluding sportsperson or coach.
[224]
This PSW visa is not extendable so you will only be able to apply for this visa only once. If you are not able to get a sponsored job within 2 years of PSW by A rated company then you will have to go back.
[247]
PSW visa will not count towards settlement rights. Student visa and the 2 years of PSW will not count towards PR. Only the time on skilled worker visa will count towards UK PR.
[269]
The last point is that the study must be completed in the UK except for permitted study abroad or when distance learning was permitted due to Covid.
[285]
So this was the key information I wanted to share with you about PSW visa.
[291]
Before going to the next step let me tell you about the documents required to apply for PSW visa.
[297]
The first document which you will need is your valid passport that shows your identity and nationality.
[304]
Next your BRP card which is the Biometric residence permit given to you when you applied for student visa.
[307]
You will need your CAS reference number which you can find in the CAS letter provided by your University.
[318]
Some other documents which you might require are: proof of relationship if your dependants are also applying with you.
[328]
A letter from your scholarship provider approving your application if they paid for your course fees or living cost while studying.
[339]
The next important document you will need is your degree certificate from the university.
[343]
Along with the degree certificate you might also need the transcripts from your university.
[347]
So these were the documents you will need to apply for PSW visa after your studies.
[352]
Now lets talk about the next step which is PR route
[356]
so when you get 2 years PSW you can do any kind of job except sportsperson or coach
[366]
but the best would to find the relevant job as per your completed education in the UK
[371]
if possible, even find the part time job related to your studies so you can start building your experience
[378]
try to get relevant experience, try to build a network and contacts
[383]
try focussing on your English communication skills then only you will be able to find A rated sponsored job
[389]
I have already made a video on how to apply for a sponsored job in an A rated company which you can watch from this "I" button here
[395]
In that video you will find an "Eligible Occupation List" & "Shortage Occupation List"
[399]
so you can search jobs related to your education and expertise in that list. I have also included the link for the list of A rated companies
[409]
so you can go to these company's career page on their website and find a job from there directly to get a sponsored job
[417]
Now A rated sponsored means - those employers having sponsored license and who can provide you with "CoS" letter which is Certificate Of Sponsorship
[428]
If you work in a company who doesn't have this sponsor license then it will be difficult for them to provide you with a CoS letter
[435]
Once you get the job in A rated company and get skilled worker visa, now the 5 years PR route will start
[439]
after getting the job, you will need to convert/switch your PSW visa to Skilled Worker Visa
[445]
Employer will provide you with a CoS letter which you will need while applying for a Skilled Worker Visa
[452]
You can even get sponsored job during these 2 years PSW (like within 6 months or an year), as soon as you get that just apply for Skilled Worker Visa
[467]
Now once you get the Skilled Worker Visa, stay on that visa for continuous 5 years
[473]
Some people ask, can they visa India during these 5 years. Yes of-course they can visit !!
[479]
You usually get 2-3 weeks holidays from your employer so you can definitely visit your home country during these 5 years
[487]
and the second question comes, can you change your employer during these 5 years? Yes you can change your employer but...
[495]
you have to make sure the second employer is also an A rated sponsor so they can provide you with another CoS letter.. so you can be on the same visa category which is Skilled Worker Visa
[504]
So keep in mind.. you can change your employer but not the visa type or category. You have to spend 5 years on same visa type to get the PR
[513]
Now after spending 5 years on Skilled Worker Visa, you are eligible to apply for ILR (Indefinite Leave To Remain)
[520]
Now to apply for ILR, there is a different procedure. You will need to check all the requirements for ILR.
[525]
You will need several types of documents, if you won't have much knowledge on how to file ILR application then you can also find a solicitor who can help you with that
[535]
but to reach there.. you have to follow this complete route
[538]
After getting ILR, now you have to stay on ILR for 1 year atleast so you can be eligible for the citizenship
[547]
you can apply for the British citizenship after being on ILR for atleast an year
[555]
So this was the complete end to end route of getting British Citizenship and PR if you are coming to the UK as an International Student, which I thought to share with you in a quick video
[570]
So in short I'll Summarize, you enter as an International Student
[573]
then you applied for PSW visa after your course which could be 1 year or more
[578]
then you found an A rated sponsored job during your PSW visa
[581]
then you applied for the skilled worker visa
[583]
then after being on skilled worker visa for 5 years, you applied for ILR which is Indefinite Leave to Remain
[587]
so ILR is PR, now after being on PR/ ILR for atleast 1 year
[592]
you are finally eligible for the British Citizenship so this is the complete route
[596]
so hopefully you would have liked this video of the complete PR process on study visa
